  • The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, A 510bhp powerhouse but will it break the bank if you decided to finance one? Here the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio finance is broken down to both a new PCP and used PCP finance deal. I hope you find it useful. Also some nice accelerations and exhaust sounds from the Giulia QV!

      Stef, When you rev that high in rpm and shut down instantly it's very bad for the turbo's as they run dry out of oil and will damage the turbo and engine over time. Always alow 30 sec or more in idle before shutting down the car. It hurts to see you do this!

    Great Vid Stef. Proper brass taps reality check, factual lowdown on a car we all aspire to own. Lots of thoughts as to how this car will depreciate? How desirable it will be as a second hand purchase when its out of warranty? How tough mechanically will it be long term? Having driven the Autolusso tuned veloce Giulia I can say I was very impressed with this car. Nothing like the qv of course. But a nice veloce q2 for me one day, mapped and sorted is my obtainable reality. Keep up the great work mate. Really enjoy your down to earth approach to your reviews and video's.

    I like the video because of the point ''I can afford to have it now'' . I fell in love in Giulia , would really love to have it but.... I think the best thing to do is to buy it with cash , no credits no PCPs and stuff. If we take the price of registration , assurance and the fuel it is way more expensive than we thought on the beginning (also there will be speeding tickets because of this monster). Thanks Stef for the video.

    Great video as always Stef. You forgot to mention another way to have the car new....PCH! I got quoted for 8k miles a year with a 12 month deposit and over 4 years just over £600 per month including VAT. Then you simply give the car back after 4 years and order a new car. I think it's the cheapest way of having this dream car brand new without having to worry about depreciation and having the trouble of selling afterwards.

      @H2TEN 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steven Hearnden you can add more mileage. You don’t have to go with 8k miles. For example 10k would add another £20 per month. It’s not that ridiculous if you live and work in London...

      Is it just me that thinks the concept of giving back any car after paying a huge monthly price is very very expensive motoring!? £600 x 48 = £28800 total spend for basically renting a car for 4 years.....that’s over £7k per annum cost for just the car!!!!
      Here’s an idea, buy a £10 or £15k car in the first place and sell it 4 years later for £7 to £10k....or even better buy an appreciating asset (e46 m3 / z4m etc) still enjoy driving and not lose any money on its assett value.!!!
      I just think the world has gone mad on people financing things they really can’t afford!

    • @H2TEN
      @H2TEN 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      William Oakes yes that’s how much you’d lose in depreciation anyway wether you buy it or “rent” it. Cars just lose value like it’s going out of fashion unfortunately. If you like new cars which no one has owned previously then this is one of the best options. If you like or don’t mind used cars then it’s a better spend.

    @cem330 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good channel, salient points made.
    Different folks, different strokes and all that. But unless buying as a business I'll never get my head around these finance deals. I mean sure, if you don't mind paying through the nose for something that isn't yours (unless of course you're willing to pay off the balloon at the end)...
    Also, 6%+ interest is just criminal when your bank will almost certainly give you a rate approaching half that, if not half (assuming you've got a decent credit rating of course). I've taken two loans out for car purchases in the last 7 years and both times interest was in the low 3% region.
    Onto the Alfa - this is the only car that will replace my modded and much loved 987.1 Cayman S. I've got two kids and although have occasional access to the wife's car, when my youngest starts school in 2 years time, a 2-seater is obviously going to present a rather fundemental problem on the school run.
    Thing is Alfa have been properly lax re: Apple/Android Carplay which is a must-have for me so I'd opt for a used MY2018 car come '20. At present my car's worth around 14-16k (private) and hopefully it will retain that value until I'm in a position to buy.
    If I'm not, I'll just keep the Porker and buy a little runaround until I can save more.

  • @johndemer4329
    @johndemer4329 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is the car to avoid buying, with finance or without.
    I bought list price for 64.5k in cash (all the options except ceramics and sport seats).
    Tried to sell 8 months later (due to terrible brakes, unuseable tyres, and serious throttle lag).
    I called 14 Alfa dealers, to try to sell the car. Only 1 was interested. The other 13 didn't want it, weren't interested, wouldn't call back, etc.
    I sold for 47.5k.
    That's a 17k hit in 8 months. The car had done 2800 miles.
    Hire-purchase won't work on this car, because you'll be sick of the brakes and turbo lag after 1 year. And you won't want to buy a set of winter tyres.
    PCP, you'll have poor finance terms, and won't want to pay the balloon.
    I've instead bought a Cayman GTS. Won't depreciate like a QF, is as quick as a QF (and quicker off the line in normal mode), and is more driveable in every situation.

    A good video Stef would be to show that you can walk into any premium car dealer and buy one of these with NO deposit up front. For every £1000 down it equates to roughly £25 extra a month. So in your PCP example, it turns £750 a month into £1000. From a financial point of view it is absolutely pointless putting such a big deposit down on a car which is yet to lose all of its initial depreciation. The bulk of that £10k would be lost straight away. It is better to use the £10k to earn money on itself during the lifetime of the car. Say you take out a 48 month pcp to get the lowest monthly, everyone tends to swap cars after about 24 - 30 months into the term. You will never get the return on that £10k in that time, it is dead money, where as paying the extra £250 per month over that period equates to £7k over the life of the vehicle ownership period. Meaning you pay less, lose less and have a lot of liquidity to use money to make money.

      Patrick2332 thank you for such a plainly described financial point.

    • @feelsgoodman245
      @feelsgoodman245 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is bad advice from a financial perspective.
      The ideal deposit size really depends on the PCP interest rate and on how much you value the liquidity that keeping the deposit offers. Any money you put down as a deposit reduces the amount you borrow for the PCP, and therefore the amount that you are paying interest on. If you can obtain a better return than the PCP rate, then it does indeed make sense to keep the deposit and invest it.
      Likewise, you might be able to get a return which is only slightly worse than the PCP rate, and accept that slight loss as the cost of higher liquidity.
      However, PCP rates are commonly far higher than the guaranteed return the average investor can get for their money. This is especially the case for second hand PCPs. Using this video as an example, Magnitude's 6.8% APR is quite a bit higher than you could guarantee over a 4 year period.
      The depreciation and resulting balloon payment for the car does not at all factor in to judging the deposit size, at least from a financial perspective. From a psychological perspective there are other considerations that might affect deposit size, including the relative sizes of deposit and balloon payment.

    Nice video, a car in most cases does not qualify as a depreciating asset, rather a car is a liability that cost you money to own and run with a gradual depreciating curve. The word investment is incompatible with a car purchase, but there is an exception such as a rare vintage Ferrari or Porsche. I will wait until it hit the final point of its depreciation curve before I buy this car, I did it with my Z4M coupe.

    Unless the interest rate on a PCP is 0% then buying a car, especially one as expensive as this, on finance is financial idiocy. Just look at the interest payments! £7k on your second-hand example - £7k! Madness. If you have to pay on finance then you can’t afford the car - simple.

You know you want it ... and a Fiat Abarth 125 Spider or a Fiat 595 or an Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio (the most flawed Sedan ever made! just look at the B pillar. well you can't miss it! and your rear seat passengers are going to charge you for their chiropractic bills when they no doubt injure their backs getting past the ridiculous rear wheel arch...it might as well be a Coupe !!!!! ) ... @@StefABtv One aspect is a car on lease is a negative asset. As you don't own the car it has no tangible value. Essentially your literally renting it nothing more (Unless you pay the balloon payment at the end) So you drop a big deposit down, pay XYZ per month for something you do not own. For taxi drivers, driving instructors etc it's perfectly fine. They will likely offset these huge bills onto there corp tax.
      I know countless people who have leased cars (PCP's) and Banks and Building Societies will not touch them because of them. I worked in finance for 4-5 Years with many mortgage advisors and it's a serious stumbling block for people to get approved. As I said the banks see them as monthly spent money for absolutely nothing. At least if the cars on personal finance their is an asset to claim on.
      Honestly Stef, PCP's in my view are one of the biggest failings of modern motoring. Your better off owning your own car (even if it's far cheaper) you have no debt to your name etc...
      Sorry pal you did ask 🤣🤣 rant over.
      Am sure PCP'S suit certain people but I honestly think people are just not advised on the long term effects and especially if they want future (more important) financial commitments.
      Don't get me started on mileage caps, conditon appraisals and miss selling 🤣🙈

      I respectfully disagree with some of the other views. Leasing makes complete financial sense, I would never invest large amounts of cash in a depreciating asset. If you have £60,000 in the bank, you should either invest in a high return account or pay a chunk off a mortgage so your interest payments are less... but don’t spunk it on a car that loses money every single month.
      Of course you have to be in a position that you have a spare £700 per month and should not stretch yourself to that but investing in a depreciating asset just doesn’t make sense.
