Many years ago I read somewhere that emigrating means becoming a foreigner in 2 countries: the country you emigrate TO, and the country you emigrate FROM. That's why many people regret emigrating.
Nice information. Very niceperson and actual facts
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts
I took a 3 year sabbatical to Kerala, India. Rented out my house, sold my cars and left. The plan was for one year but ended up staying almost 3 years. It was a good experience. I could have made a lot of money and moved up the ladder during that time but money is not everything. Life is short, enjoy on the go.
Very true. Thanks for sharing your story
@@MalluStyleMultiMedia wow, that’s interesting, we would love to know your experience. I am at a point in life where I realized how much money is needed practically and get out of this rat race to focus on what I love to do.
@@deepakjagadeeshwar9404 it was a super experience. I ate like 16 jackfruits during that time 😂 had a lot of fish. Ate all of my favorite nostalgic items. Even something simple as coconut chutney was amazing over there. So ya took that trip in my early 30s. We’re not in IT so we didn’t bother to look for a job over there. Just enjoyed and stretched that dollar. I had a small rental income stream. That’s about it. Kids were small and it was easy to adjust. They went to international school in Kerala. It was hard leaving actually. Kids wanted to stay in India.
I still plan on retiring in India. I don’t think kids will go back but it’s alright. Let them stay wherever they are comfortable. For me it’s the cost of living and man power in India. That’s what we need when we get older. I worked in many hospitals and nursing homes here in the US. If you have good insurance, you’ll be alright 😁
Would you be open to share your journey on our podcast as it will be helpful and inspiring to others? Thanks
I also have been in Kerala for nearly 4 years. I have only one problem here. The people are terrible! I was initially very sociable with everyone now I try to have minimal contact with them.
I and my family came back to India for good bfor COVID after 23 Years in USA....Now, I am happy to be in my native place
Thats great! Thanks for sharing that. Would you be interested in sharing your journey with us on the platform and it could help others with their decision process.
I’m jealous still stuck here after 23 years
Did you get GC before moving?

Just wondering, Next time, you interview, can you ask questions on taxation for
1. US Rental Income
2. Dividends in your 401K and
3. Dividends in your ROTH
4. Growth in Capital in 401K without any sale of equity
5. Growth in capital in ROTH without any sale of equity
5. Social Security
6. Private Company Pensions
Thanks for the feedback. We have an interview with financial planner in the past and intend to bring to more videos related to finance that would benefit everyone. th-cam.com/video/cM_d1sQ4R24/w-d-xo.html
I'd moved for 4 years n came back to US. I'm planning to move back in few years..for now we moved to Malaysia for work temporarily. Hopefully in few years it's going to happen. Iv lived in US for 30+yrs. Finances are big factor in terms of taxes 😂I know taxes are big challenges, if you've any income from US you get taxed there in US. You've to file taxes in both countries. Indias much more flexible I can but not as organized. Certainly if you get a good /better opportunity in India, & live closer to family, a good health insurance, certainly international schools , good community with facilities such as hospitals/ malls/ grocery/pharmacy/laundry service( these days you find communities) with such facilities.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Would you be open to share your story on our podcast and I am sure it would be helpful for lot of people.Would love to have you as a guest . Thanks
Thank you so much for sharing all the information and your experiences. After 14 years in Canada, we are planning to relocate back to India. While we are financially well-settled here by the grace of God, it feels like the right time to return to our roots. However, at the same time, it's quite daunting, and our minds are filled with numerous uncertainties.

It would be good to gather recommendations for the returnees good points of contacts be it broker, dairy provider, organic foods etc to make the transition back easier for others.
Thanks for watching and providing feedback. Its worth exploring at each big city level as a reference doc.
His point about gates community is good

Please do a detail video on how to search jobs in India and share resources.. for a senior IT employees ..
We will do something in the future. Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah that’s the biggest hurdle for most of people who have good jobs in USA and wants to return back, having a good job in city they want to relocate helps to take such decision much much faster , I would say that’s the service I would love to pay as well if there can be a good career partner who helps in such transition

Will your kids go to Indian colleges or us colleges. Indian admission process os difficult in good higher education institutions
Depends on kids as they grew up. True what you siad for non indian citizens however there is a special category for them even in govt institutions
Did he mention what grade his elder kid was when they moved?
I believe the elder kid is middle school

I will return for retirement in India in 15 years when I turn 55. I am hoping India will be a very developed country by then.
It is going in the right direction currently.
Who will you return for?... at age 55
@@chaosNinja790
For himself!
But it is interesting where India will be as retirement country compared to US
@@bvssrsguntur6338 It's deep and philosophical, A lot can be created in 15 years but a lot can vanish too.
I never lived in india, but want to retire there. Need some guidance. Looking for a place which is modern (roads and traffic wise), not polluted, low crime rate and best weather. Kerala seems to have cooler weather and Ayurvedic places, I know Chandigarh is a modern and my friend went to Hyderabad and said it is as modern as USA etc.
How you planned to move back kids adjust
Frequent trips to India, discussions in the family and regular calls with grand parents, cousins etc., will all help for kids to adjust better when back. Key thing is while they are young, it's much easier than when they grow up. Better to move (if possible) while they are still in primary or lower grade
15 years in usa and now planning to go back to India by next year

its been a decade here in USA then Canada and UsA again.
Oh nice. Would you be open to share your story with us on the podcast platform?
Your statement is ambiguous. Are you saying it's been a total of 10 years in USA1, Canada, and USA2 combined? Or you mean to say you spent 10 years first in the USA and then moved to Canada for a few years and then came back to the US?
What is your take on Hyderabad Traffic and pollution? Does it bother you much? Will it be a major factor in quality of life style? thanks.
Hyderabad traffic could be troublesome during peak hours. Pollution is not bad at all. If you have flexibility with managing traffic (close to work, timings etc.,) no issues in quality of life style. Also you can have driver who can help with the commute.
If you are young you can cope with traffic and pollution but if you are of retirement age and return to l India for good to live in a major city your health will definitely deteriorate.
@@DesiReturnPollution isn't bad at all???? Come on, don't generalize it. Pollution in Hyd is killing me for the past 10 years. It caused a great deal of depression. I lost so many wonderful opportunities because pollution affected my mood and mind. Hyd is overcrowded at this point. There are tons of blue collar as well as white collar folks coming to Hyderabad every single day.
Did you give up your us citizenship or still holding it ...
😂
I am not sure if it is me I am not able to make out what exactly he is saying.
Very heavy accent
There was another couple who had such bad English accents after spending 25 yrs in the US that even a grade 5 Indian student was audible.
It's cringe to listen to Indians speaking with an accent. I'm saying this as someone who live in UK for 22 years.
It's not just you. He's so unclear in his speech. Somewhere in the first 10 minutes, he says his team in the US where he worked for 10+ years was like family and would love to go back to working on the same team. I wonder how they developed such a great bond with his level of communication. I'm sorry if he's reading this but someone gotta say it.
When Indians move to US they try to create in 'little India' in US , and when come back from US , they try to create 'little US' in India 😇😃
I don't think it's only indians. It's human nature to associate with someone who can share some similar topics etc., Little italy, little china etc., Very valid point... Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Have all the returnees surrendered their US Passports and taken Indian passports ?
Typically if someone has US passport, they take OCI or visa to live in India. They dont renounce US passport as the process is quite long and complicated. Some people wont take US citizen ship even though they ate qualified to maintain Indian passport
What is the immigration status of this gentleman?
Mat aao re. Kuch nahi badla yaha
The kids won’t be happy in India….
I think he has lived in the US for far far too long. 15 years is kind of max you must stay. Now this person is trying to replicate his US style in India, which is not going to work. Also his idea to choose gated community with expats, means he is still not ready for India. He is trying to live in a self made bubble. His main problem is his accent and his kids also probably have a thick accent which is why he feels they will struggle in a local community.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. One can choose the lifestyle one wants to live anywhere in the world (India or US).
@@DesiReturn Yes indeed, my point is people who are watching this shouldn't get dissuaded, he says we need to join various R2I groups. The R2I groups are full of OCI people putting their kids in IGCSE/IB and their plan is going to be very temporary. This is not true R2I. They have some fascination about bringing their kids to India during their most critical years and then send them again to the US/Europe and they try to replicate their western world in India.
For people who want to truly R2I, you need to mix up with locals and behave like a local. This person is just an American with Indian roots. He is not really R2Iing. I would personally not follow most of his advice. I will live in a community full of locals, no western NRIs/OCIs. I will send my daughter to CBSE school with plans to continue college in India. So 100% adaptability with India is needed. And of course no house helps for us. This idea that you want to hire a maid, gardener, driver and live like a upper class person, you will never really be able to associate with the real India. Those are my thoughts.
@@Revhappy829 Everyone's perspective is different that what makes it beautiful and lively. Good luck with your journey and we all choose our own path... Take care
