If you have lived your life in the USA, retiring in India is difficult. I am just sharing my thoughts with all the examples of indian retired folks around me in florida. They said they couldn't adjust back in India after living so long in USA.
Would be nice if you can add questions like 1. what he did with his 401K 2. Did he kept his equity investments? 3, What is he doing in india after retirement? 4. How is he managing Citizenship of kids?
Will ask. Sometimes guests are not open to share. 1. We did couple of videos about 401k ( check them out on channel) 4. Not sure of this question. Nothing special you have todo. One can renew passport at embassy in India

I think you have done the right decision. The cost of living has reached a crisis point in G7 countries, people are living a constrained life, health service is deteriorating, salary hike is very little. I doubt people can ever retire in G7 countries due to the countries debt burden and ageing population. Whereas India is better place as long as inflation is contained within limit.

In the long run education of kids is a problem which may face young people with kids. Indian education system is hyper competitive and seats are few. Us citizen kids later want to come to us to study for the bachelor degree and then the advantage of low tuition from state universities has to be given up
That's one aspect to consider for sure and I have seen parents moved back to be able to eligible for in state tuition. Also if kids grown up in India and US can decide which is the right place for them. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and watching the video.
i disagree with the comment that one has to sell the house. Its an asset and one needs to figure it out to rent it out so that i gets paid down. There are several property managers who can help run it for a 5-6% service fee. Also, not everything goes as planned, if you choose to return for whatever reasons you have a place to go vs having to start from scratch all over
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Couple of points on why one might want to consider selling house 1. For a non US citizen or GC holder, one need visa to visit US to sell or rely on friends/family/PM (hassle) 2. Missing out $500k capital gain exemption for primary house is another important thing to consider. At the end it depends on each individual short/long term plans and decide whats right for them.
Returning as indian born and raised is ok but kids born and bought up abroad finds hard to adjust as education pattern differs, they dont get facilities like parks, libraries etc
