You gave a great point about chosen family. The family we choose will always be stronger than a biological family because they’ve earned our loyalty, love, trust and place in our lives. Biological family is just there and didn’t warn any of it.
Not trying to hate on biological families. If you love each other that’s what really matters. I personally don’t have many positive experiences with biological family so it’s difficult for me to see “biological family” in a positive way
Alternate theory: the sharks are in an aquarium. That would explain the different species, as aquariums sometimes put different species of sharks that they know won’t harm each other in the same tanks. The older sharks are the ones that had been there the longest, so they “adopt” the younger sharks that are caught in the wild and help them adjust to their new life.

I have a theory that the Pink Fong mascot is an alien
See, the mascot appears to be some sort of red panda, maybe a fox..? Basically, a mammal. Mammals don't have gills. They can't breathe underwater. Yes, the mascot does have a snorkel, but the top of it still needs to be above water. The mascot can even be seen laughing, which I believe does require breathing.

If memory serves me right, there was an episode of GTLive (not live) where he was reviewing theories from the subreddit and one of the ones presented suggested this and pointed out a lot of things in this vid. So technically MatPat didn't make this theory.
