Besides, you can constantly see more humans all across the game, in your island, in other islands... Humans are just another species that live in the Animal Crossing world

In New Leaf, it's possible for grumpy characters to ask you what animal they'd be if they were an animal. Thing is, if you answer them with what animal they are, they're quick to point out that they already are that. So. There ya go.

@@Callo_2823 Could be another part of the delusion, or they could have an infestation that they don't have the means to properly combat, as the ranges for flea birthrates number anywhere from 100 to multiple 1000s depending on the breed over the course of a single flea mother's life. And yes, that's just 1, now imagine having 10+.

They do comment on your look! And its funny how in Wild World on the DS Lite there was an axolotl as a shrink that would come to town every now and then and teach you to express emotions. Even in Horizons the Islanders teach you how to express certain emotions. I’ve always had a suspicion that our character is living with a certain mental illness.
I think an even better example of the character haveing some kind of out of body experience is the dream islands. You can literally travel around other people's islands without actually being there

A few things, in the older animal crossing games you can’t just customize your character in a mirror, what about if you play multiplayer, obviously that other player character will be another human, some villagers have dialogue if you wear the animal costume associated with them where they comment that you’re dressed like them for example if you talk to kiki while wearing a cat costume

The Idea of Animal Crossing game came to developer after he had to move from his hometown to other city for his job. He wanted to show in this game how did he feel when he moved.

This was an awsome theory and loved to hear it! Games are a great means of escape and are going to be the aid to help teach children. Like for me growing up learning came from movies or books. Now as games start to be more prominent I wouldn't be surprised that in the future games have hidden lessons not just for theory channels like MatPat's but for future generations to learn about the world.

Well, there is literally a family tree in the museum that explains that the villagers are more "evolved" forms of our normal animals, or that at least they split somewhere in the tree from the "normal animals". There is even the fossil of a primate before the spot where your villager can pose. Basically they see less-evolved animals the same as we humans see monkeys.

@@DJAyt69 in the fossil section of the museum there is marking on the floor showing the 'tree' of life. In the last room there is a section for your character to pose in and out shows the different branches of the other species.

What about when you talk to Sable at Able Sisters, sometimes she says “if you need something, could you talk to the other hedgehog, please?” Meaning that they are actually hedgehogs and therefore they are animals and so are the rest of the characters in the game. Plus, I don’t remember exactly how it was worded, but I know that Tom Nook once says something along the lines of “it’s all too much work for one raccoon” but I’m not 100 percent about that one.
I guess we can always count on matpat to look into the darker side of things

I figured it'd be something like a post-apocalyptic world setting, with uplifted animal-human hybrids replacing humans following some event that decimated the original human population, like the increasingly severe consequences of global warming, or nuclear war, or something. This was certainly a more original take on it.
