What about 2D barcodes? (like GS1 datamatrix and QR codes) that can then hande GS1 digital link. I think these will be the future in a lot of cases.
RFID would be the ideal but it is sometimes prohibitive, depending on the product/business, but they still need to be scanned by consumers as this is common practice now which means NFC in phones and a learned behaviour to wave, like we do with contactless or we keep a barcode on there too.

Hi Lorna, we absolutely agree. Barcoding is still a viable solution, especially when you consider the QR code's growing applications. Some of our solutions have even incorporated both barcode and RFID to capture the strengths of each system. It all comes down to your use case and environment.

Sir it is necessary to put the RFID TAG in front of RFID READER to read the tag

Hi. The tag does not have to be within the line of sight, or right in front of the reader, but it must be within the read range of the RFID reader. Our Need-To-Know Starter Guide for RFID Systems might be helpful - it breaks down the basics of RFID. You can get a copy here if you're interested: bit.ly/3t4frct

      Hi Marlie,
Thank you for your question. With the right software, both barcoding and RFID systems can track vehicles and record employee information. Our team will need to hear more about your needs and use case to determine which system will work best for you. Contact us at abr.com/contact to speak with one of our specialists.

Can the RFID tags be given unique ID's? Say instead of wanting to know I have 6 shirts in inventory, I want know that 2 are red, 2 are blue, and 2 are green.

Hello, thank you for your question, and pardon our delay. Yes, that is possible. You can uniquely identify your shirt colors with an Electronic Product Code (EPC) for each tag. If you would like to discuss your project in-depth with an RFID engineer, you can contact us at abr.com/contact.

Could you create a QR code with the rfid embedded so you can have a gs1 registered QR barcode and be able to scan inventory with the rfid?

      Hi Sarah,
Thank you for your question. Yes, this is possible: An RFID tag can have any barcode, QR code, or text printed on it. If you want to speak to an RFID specialist about your use case in-depth, please reach out at abr.com/contact.
