- Hey everyone, Welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. I come to you with news regarding the upcoming Harry Potter TV series. I’ll kick things off with the update and then I’ll dive in to some more details of the project for those who are interested. Following the Emmy Awards last week, HBO's CEO and chairman, Casey Bloys, provided some fresh new details regarding the upcoming and highly anticipated series.

This isn't at all "bad news". It's actually great. It means that they arent rushing the show and are taking their time to carefully craft it.
I hope so.
Though that sometimes, if a project takes too much time to be launched, it can be still ended like a story bad developed and with a room for improvement.
Like Kingdom Hearts 3, that was a planned project since a decade prior its releasing, and it ended being like a poorly developed story, cheap mechanics, rushed plot, some ommited parts and many aspects that left a lot to be desire, in comparisons with the other Kingdom Hearts.
I hope that at least the project of Harry Potter, can be a proper and well done story.
not really, it means that everything is running behind schedule is a bad sign for produciton management. if it takes 15 years to come out with 8 seasons like I think it will, its going to a poorly managed show.
@@Jensen-C Good point. Perhaps even if Kingdom Hearts 3 had a lot time to be developed, it possibly ended like a poor developed game for a incompetent and mediocre management.
Well, i hope that the management of Harry Potter be excelent, otherwise, we'll have a notable disappointed.
i’m in the acting industry, and whilst they released an open casting, people who are already a part of casting agency for speaking roles will be auditioned in a “regular way” with self tapes with parts of the script from the film and such.. which leads me to believe that we’re in good hands when it comes to castings.
if the show premieres in 2026 it'll be exactly 25 years after harry potter and the philosopher's stone movie hit theaters in 2001
Bad news is that no production date as of yet but everything else is going good like budget and the casting call

The casting is so pivotal that if they don’t get it right it will be unwatchable, and no amount of budget can save the show if they can’t recapture the magic with actors that can carry the torch. I think it’s a big hurdle and maybe unlikely they will manage , but I really do want to see more from Harry Potter so.

They’ve already told Harry Potter’s story through the movies, and quite well imo(even as a huge book fan). I wish they would have used this opportunity to tell a different story in the Harry Potter Universe. Maybe like a Hogwarts origin story or something involving following a different group of students through a different age.

This is what I was thinking, for the films they all had to be British and I'm wondering if that'll happen with this too.
Either way, I just hope the company actually use and make big set pieces and not just CGI everything. That's what I like about the movies and watching behind the scenes, is the charm and magic of turning real places into parts of Hogwarts. You just don't get that much these days. Of course you have to CGI a lot of things, even back then, but most movies now won't even make a basic set, they'll just CGI it, which is sad.
How did you find the CGI in GOT?
I'd rather Warner Bros make Fantastic Beasts 4 and 5 than this show!
Why, it’s has almost none of the appeal that a good HP show would have. Look at the viewing numbers for Fantastic beasts, it hasn’t captured the audience

You don't want someone who is too old for Dumbledore, this person has to be around for nigh on a decade most likely so you run risks like what happened in the films.

It's a tv show based on the novels that 8 movies were based on. It would not surprise me if it never comes to fruition to begin with.

The HP video games were actually pretty good until you got to Goblet of Fire. Chamber of Secrets on the PC was great.
Watch Blackkklansmen and you'll see Driver and his INSANE voice skills , if he doesn't have too much on his plate he would be the only decision other than trying to deep fake Rickman

Frankly, I'm glad to see HBO dragging their feet. It's more time between now and when they've ruined the show. I'm in this pleasant place where I can just ignore Fantastic Beasts and Cursed Child and enjoy Harry Potter like normal.
I know I keep saying this, but I hope and pray they don't do any forced diversity, race-swappings or any of that stuff which has caused so many Disney products to fail. Stick to how the characters are described in the book, and everything will be find.
I'm an Elder Scrolls fan, I am used to waiting for new games, so take all the time you need, just for the love of Lord Sheogorath, don't mess this up.

I am totally ok with the show being pushed back. It will give the directors, producers, writers, and everybody else who is part of team more time to not rush the show. We, the fans of the books and movies don't want a bad show. Especially when there's going to be 7 seasons for the 7 books. I actually haven't read the books and will for sure be getting the books and reading them before the show premieres.
I wish they would write new stories in the universe. Hogwarts legacy nailed the setting. I think it would be awesome to see the harry potter universe in medieval times.
David Zaslav may be a bad person and I’m neutral towards him, but it’s very nice of him to allow the Harry Potter series to be released.
I must agree with you on that one, Greg Draven DOES do an expert impersonation of Hagrid, I have seen him do it on a video commercial on TH-cam he was doing it for some adventure park he was going to appear at some months ago, maybe a year, I could be mistaken but I agree with you on that choice for Hagrid. Benedict Cumberbatch lol now I remember watching that, he was great! If he has to be British and I had to choose, it would be him! I forgot about Tom Hiddleston doing an impersonation of Alan Rickman, he does come close though. I am glad they are taking their time with the project, at least it shows they are taking great care into the whole process. Thank you for this update, I am glad I read the notification! Peace. ☮

With the announcement so fresh I didn't expect to see this show for at least 4 years
am i the only one who wished they would have made it animated? I think they could have done so much more with animation and it would have to live up to the expectations that we love from the originals.

If you're gonna do a TV show based on Harry Potter and NOT make Fans absolutely angry about bad casting.

The biggest issue with the show is all the bigotry coming out from JK Rowling.
Makes ya take a closer look at the problematic stuff from the books. Breaks my heart, because it was so important to me till recent years.

Like many people, I imagine that how well I like the show will hinge on the casting. If they don't get the right actors, especially in the younger roles, I doubt that I'll even want to see it. 🔮🪄🧙♂
