    Thanks man!! This is next on my list. Jeep feels like it has a mind of it's own going down the road.
    2 bolts and a squirt of grease. Easy peasy.
    Saved me the $300 bucks labor the garage wanted to charge to replace it. And they wanted $105 for the track bar. 😯. Total savings $350.
    The ball joints video was another great one. New ball joints, new wheel hubs, new axles, new rotors.
    Next (or at the same time as track bar) is shocks, tie rod ends, sway bar links, various bushings.

    Heading out to my garage to DO THIS right now, so I hit up this video again.. It's Winter, but here in SoCal we have Santa Ana wind conditions today.. So the temp is 70%.. I got NO more excuses.. LOL And when the track bar is in, I'm hitting all the steering linkage! Your vids rock Ray, no two ways about it.. 👍

      @@jat-justamaturetech-philpj8285 Totally!! I replaced all the steering linkage, the track bar, the steering stabilizer shock, upper & lower ball joints, AND both hub bearings.. All after watching Rays videos.. All those old parts and their connections added up to the wobble.. Now, she tracks smooth as silk...

    just want to say your videos have saved me so much time and money. tip for everyone while youre down there messing around with the track bar make sure all the bolts that hold the track bar bracket to the frame on the driver side are tight. rebuilt my entire front end trying to track the noise down (it needed it anyways) but there was still a noise and it was just some loose bolts on the bracket lmao

    Replacing the track bar on my 1996 Laredo on September 15th. I will also try to replace o-rings in the oil filter adapter IF I can get the damn thing off of the block. I'll return with an update. Thanks for the demonstration.

    I want to say thank you so much I was doing the track baron my 1998 Jeep and I noticed a ball joint just sitting out in the open and the sway bar link broke and embedded in the coil so again thank you so much I'm going to get this thing up and going

    Your videos always pop up for Jeep repair. I watched this one again to refresh on what size sockets I needed and was reminded to turn steering wheel to Pass side. I had SEVERE death wobble. So much that the high pressure power steering hose blew and the bracket on DS that the trac bar connects to (castle nut side) those bolts came loose. I could see where the bolts moved, so just a heads up for anyone doing this job again, to check for loosened bolts and brackets especially after severe DW.

    I've done three jeeps now - two XJs and one Laredo. It's a piece of cake and makes all the difrerence in handling and normal driving.
    The trick to removing the cotter pin is to take a pair of wire cutters and cut the loop. The pin will come out in two pieces rather easily.

    • @barricadegarage5361
      @barricadegarage5361  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You went out and got a Lifted Jeep ZJ, youll need to do these things yourself. Theres nothing mechanics hate more than dealing with modified vehichles and there actually not good at it. The ones that know what they are doing youll end up paying more for labor and mainting these Jeeps espicially the lifted ones wont be cheap if you run to a mechanic for everything.
      This video is for a stock height ZJ.. Yours is lifted 4 inches so youll need an adjustable trackbar and use this video for refrence th-cam.com/video/aTlUyhKMTOA/w-d-xo.html

      BARRICADE GARAGE alright I knew the lift was gonna make it harder to work on but I live near the beach so I thought it’d be good to have. Where could I go to buy an adjustable track bar? And do I still need to put it on jacks or should I be okay because of the lift? It also needs its ball joints replaced but I have those parts

    • @barricadegarage5361
      @barricadegarage5361  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jabberwocky3347 you can do it at home with a jack and get some 6 ton jackstands. You will have to order the adjustable track bar online. The one I used in the video I ordered from Rough Country through Ebay. Heres a refrence video for replacing your ball joints

    Removing the axle side bolt while the axle is hanging down will ruin your day in a hurry.. Snap! Luckily there's a company that sells a new flag nut and bolt. Otherwise a 3in grade 8 or 10 mm x 70 mm long 10.9 grade bolt will do. Use a nylon nut if no flag nut is available. I used a spare oversized nut as a spacer so I could get a wrench on it to hold it easier..
