    So I went to Denmark, and I went to the B&O store. Those crazy speakers have I think 8 drivers or something and actually sound incredible. They really blew me away. Even compared to expensive German stereos.

    B&O has been making televisions for decades. Phenomenal televisions at that. Their audio gear has a similar negative perception to Bose, in that people look at them as expensive lifestyle products over quality audio equipment, when few have even heard their gear, let alone seen it.
    They equipment can never be mistaken for neutral monitors and studio equipment, but the balance of design, sound, and enjoyment is very real.
    I have foregone neutral sound and accuracy for the pure enjoyment that B&O and B&O Play has given me over the years.

  • @UNLKYHNTR
    @UNLKYHNTR 7 ปีที่แล้ว +79

    here is what B&O does.
    you call and tell them that you have "too much of the monies" and that you want to get some speakers.
    B&O says: "sure, we got you, fam"
    so they come to your house and measure your room, note the fabric on your floor, the size of your couch, how many bookshelfs you have, how big the room is ETC.
    then they fuck off and you won't hear from them for a while.
    one day they call you and say: "so we've put all that information into a blender, pressed start and here is the shit we came up with"
    they deliver the speakers to your house, they install the speakers and listen to them for a while, making sure they are up to spec. then they fuck off again and you are left with speakers made for you.
    a neighbour of mine (around 15 years ago) had this happen. he still lives there and hasn't moved a thing in "fear of fucking up the sound"
    wanna know the specs of the speakers? 18'000€ a piece...should tell you enough. and yes, they sound fucking amazing!

      B&O is pretty much a premium lifestyle brand these days. They can deliver good or at the price point you described perfect sound, but you can get the same quality from another company for way less money. B&O has sort of in a way become the Apple of the audio brands

    As a Dane i really appreciate B&O, and my parents got some products from them. Now their speakers are beautiful and sound incredible. They are not worth the money sound wise though(they still sound amazing), but brand and design wise, sure! Also B&O have made tvs for ages ;P
    Ps. Bose doesn't have a chance against B&O, just sayin.

      Well Bose has a completely different Sound.. "Type".. bose is like Beats - on the warmer and bassier side - while B&O is clean best to compare it to would be "Teufel".
      I do own A Teufel Concept C200 USB Soundsystem and for 200€ its still unbelivable good.. yeah audiofills would want probably still better stuff.
      My Brother got this 300€ Bose Companion Thing which everyone buys and imo it sounds awful not Highs.. scatchy and unclear mids but the bass is pretty "crisp" and rich.
      Teufel though.. makes the best of both B&O and Bose. They are warmer and a bit on the bass side aswell but the mids are crisp and the Highs are present - but the bass is a not sooo crisp as the B&O or Bose stuff tbo. maybe because of that bass reflex stuff idk.
      I do like the B&O H6 2nd Gen Im using as Headphones and for Soundsystems I would go with Teufel which is as I said best from both worlds but its a personal thing.
      I like it a bit bassier and warmer thats why I went with Teufel there, B&O had nothing great for a PC though but yeah bose.. i wouldnt buy aswell. :)

And I loved the sound on Bx2's. Now I'm getting used to the Bx2 sound again and not going near the B&O store, I don't want to get bankrupt.

    Very shiny and sleek, I like the look of these more so than the B&W's. Onkyo headphones are also in that fashion category, but not as well known and I think have some build issues.

    i truly enjoy your Reviews and I have owned a bunch of B&O Equipment and the design was great to look at but did not stand up to even midfi like Pioneer or Yamaha and in no way would they ever be compared to my high end Audio gear .
    But here in the the post 2000 era they have stepped up their game but although it now sounds decent it still can be humiliated by much cheaper gear .
    Their headphones are another story ,I bough a pair of their form 1 Headphones decades ago and although interesting they were not even Koss equals but today the H6 'H8' and H9 are all very good cans and even the Earset 3i 's are not only a great design they really sound pretty good .
    So i have had to give them another chance because they are not the pretty junk they used to be but keep up your reviews you make me laugh lol

    Bang & Olufsen (B&O) (stylized as BANG & OLUFSEN) is a Danish consumer electronics company that designs and manufactures audio products, television sets, and telephones. It was founded in 1925 by Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen, whose first significant product was a radio that worked with alternating current at a time when most radios were run on batteries. In 2004, the company opened a factory in the Czech Republic where it employs approximately 250 staff producing mainly audio products
    Early history
    Peter Bang (1900-1957), son of Camillo Bang, a successful Danish businessman, showed great interest in radio technology from an early age. After graduating as an engineer in 1924, he spent six months working in a U.S. radio factory. Upon his return to Denmark, he teamed up with his friend Svend Olufsen (1897-1949), whose parents made the attic of their manor house in Struer in Jutland available for experiments. When they officially opened their business in 1925, Bang concentrated on the technology while Olufsen dealt with business. There were a number of successful developments in the 1930s and 1940s, including a sound recording system for the film industry, roof-mounted loudspeakers for circuses and army vehicles, and the iconic Beolit 39 radio with a Bakelite cabinet.
    Beolit 39 from 1938, B&O's first Radio in Bakelite
    It was, however, many years before their business became significantly profitable. The firm suffered a huge setback towards the end of World War II when its factory at Gimsing in Struer in Northwestern Jutland was burnt down by pro-Nazi saboteurs as punishment for the management's refusal to collaborate with the Germans. Undeterred, Bang and Olufsen rebuilt the factory, producing electric razors until 1955, and then going on to develop a range of radio, radiogram, and television sets, later influenced by designer Ib Fabiansen when he began work for the company in 1957.
    In the 1990s B&O opened dedicated B&O stores selling directly to users instead of selling through retailers. Production of audio separates was discontinued in favor of mini-type audio systems sold, as was usual for B&O, at a price higher than the industry average.

    Build quality on these might be a bit iffy. I had to repair the headband as it just completely fell apart on me. I've had these for a little over 3 years now, but still. And these aren't too comfortable. And I can't just get replacement earpads that aren't from B&O

  • @krisskulins5678

    Bought these off of Z's recommendation, and gotta say, these are great. I have v1, and from what I hear the v2 have more bass. Bad call... Bass on these is perfect. I'd call it "on-demand", because it's not boomy and goes away if not needed, but when the kick drums start playing, you're gonna know. Isolation is pretty decent, but the headband is shit. Compared to MDR-1A/R it's hard as rock, and my head starts hurting after a couple of hours. Pads are pretty small too - my ears fit perfectly inside, but touch the pads. Not unpleasant, just something to bear in mind for those with larger ears.

    A short little story. I was out for a Sunday walk around town, and got into a newly opened electronics store. Probably had around 100 headphones on display and needles to say, i spent my whole day trying them on. All i can say is that among all sonys, doctors, boses, and all else, I loved these, had the chance to put them on and got lost in time listening to my phone music with them on. The most gentle and delicate sound ever. Like a fairy massaging and kissing your ears continuously. The price tag woke me to reality tho...

It is the perfect bluetooth headphone!

    The H6 earpads are made of lambskin leather + very soft memory foam. But I agree, they are sooo soft and comfy you first think of some kind of softener-soaked "synthethic". But they are quite the opposite - and very durable (I´m using them (Rev 1) quite a year now as mobile headphones, no complains so far).
    Z - congratulations, your review opinion nailed it. They are "everybodys darling"-tuned and still not boring. My only complain - the mids could be a little more detailed / pronounced, voices are often a little bit recessed - but using HD600s at home, maybe I´m a little bit midrange spoiled ;)
    Speaking of performance - yes, you can fire them quite well with your phone (I´m using them with an iPhone 6) - they sound nice - but amping them (I´m using a FiiO X3 or Onkyo HA-200) really makes them sparkle (gaining sub bass, detail and treble range) - elevating them from "oh nice" to "can´t believe the awesomeness bleeding out of this little fashion victims".

      Rafael Sazo in all honesty it depends on the music you listen to overall I would definitely recommend the second generation of these if you need something for everyday on the go use. The h7 being wireless has that convienence but to me I prefer the h6 over them, although I liked the sine, comfort wise those were just not worth the money paid for them. I would get the h6 (second gen) and with the extra cash save it for another pair later down the road. Good things come in time.

      I think both generations are great, the 2nd gen fixed my very minor complain that the 1st was a little bass-shy, you could hear the potential in some songs, but I found it lacking in most. I'm not talking about tons of bass (like my TH-X00 PH), just the right amount. Also, my iPhone didn't get the best out of the 1st gen, often maxing out the volume, so I find the more efficient 2nd gen better for portability, which is my main use for these.

    Keep in mind that those Beolab 90 have single drivers worth more than anything Bose has EVER manufactured. Good direct/reflecting speakers can sound really enjoyable. I just sold my dbx SF-10 and those were some solid sounding 1980s direct/reflecting speakers. And those dbx only used cheap Pioneer midrange and woofer drivers. The B&O would likely sound very good with their Scanspeak drivers.

  • @MasterIP14

    You're so right about all $300-400 portable headphones being pretty solid. I was looking into a new set of portable over ears myself a few weeks ago (after I sold my OPPO PM3 and B&W P7). I went to an audio store and tried a whole bunch, I came back surprised at how similar they were in quality, I didn't think the decision would be so difficult. In short you can't go too wrong with any of these headphones, just find a retail store, try in a bunch and find one that fits well then see if you like the tonality. Quality wise they're mostly comparable. And just for those who are curious, I walked away with a set of Denon MM-400's and Sony MDR-1a ;)

      You'd have to move up to an Audeze $1200 headphone to beat the H6 gen 2. Super light, super compfy, amazing sound on all levels...it's all there. And the bass depth and extension is hard to beat...never mind the staging, clarity and separation. I own AKG, M&D, Fostex, Sony, etc. Nothing at this price point (in a closed back) even comes close to the overall sound quality or usability of these cans. Get the gen 2...you will enjoy them.

      Do you happen to know how are these compared to B&W P7 ?

    • @jdstarek
      @jdstarek 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Anatoliy Mandra The P7 have a bit more low-end emphasis, but don't have the imaging, articulation or stage of the H6. I know Z says here that the imaging is great but stage is narrow, that is true only of the gen 1 H6. The gen two are very wide. P7 and H6 gen 2 are pretty evenly matched, but for my money I sent back the P7 and kept the H6...it always comes back to imaging and separation for me. I'm actually quite a bass-head, listening primarily to D&B, Dub, Breaks, Trap, etc. And while the H6 isn't a "bass 1st" headphone, it's depth, extension and range provide ample low end. Again, I have others that place more emphasis on bass (such as my Master&Dynamic MH40), but I always come back to the H6...it just sounds better (and is crazy light....and looks amazing...and....)

    • @tolik3126
      @tolik3126 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      jason starek thanks. but what about their clamp?

    • @jdstarek
      @jdstarek 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anatoliy Mandra I think both are very comfortable. I mean, like really comfy. Both use really nice leather (lamb skin possibly). The P7 is a bit heavier, but has a really nice padded headband. The H6 is lighter and the headband is breathable fabric (I wear it for upwards of 3-4 hour at a time and never get hot). As for clamp, again, very similar. There is enough force to get a great seal, but it's not harsh. I have tried several (like the AKG, Fostex) that I thought didn't have enough clamp force (I have a small head). Plus (with the H6) you can bend them a bit and increase or decrease the clamp force. I think you'd be happy with either choice. On a side note, you can only use the B&W cord with the P7, but I have an aftermarket braided nylon cord on my H6. I just like the customization and that the nylon cord isn't as "springy" as the plastic cord that came with the cans.

      Well then you should listen to some. Im sure there is a showroom around. The myth that B&O is all about design is widespread and most of those who keeps saying it has never listened to their products but base their opinions on myths or by seeing their design and pricetag. Nothing like Bose. Bose is great at what they do well like professional voice communication and noise cancellation but they seldom win any prices for pure audio quality although their bose quietcomfort 35 was for a while the best at the combination of sound quality and NC.

    • @1980gm9
      @1980gm9 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jostein Brede Røer Nilsen Ha ha. B&O is design first. That is at the heart of everything thing they do. Sound and WAF is great but price for sound quality is ridiculous. 2nd hand though, there are some great option but you are not paying all that money just for sound which blows everything else out of the water. Same with there TV's

    Anyone who makes a judgment about this brand is certainly not an audiophile, we know that each product is completely different from another, uses different drivers, including some from other manufacturers, different boxes, other amplifiers / DSP, with a different target audience, different prices, we have to differentiate the ignorant peaple from true audiophiles.

    Thx ! I happened to realise that the H7 & H8 sound pretty
    different, the H8 is more bassy, less sound stage but still very good imaging, deep feeling, you know the sound is right there, while some frequencies come from wider. They isolate better passively, yet the active NC is said to be not to be great, as you have some artificial noise coming from the system itself while walking... I don't really care about NC & bluetooth, but the fact is it's part of the price 😣
    I only listened to the H6 twice, & not long enough to really compare with the 2 others. I still think the H6 & H7 sound pretty close, so its differences with the H8 might be similar. Anyway, considering the price criteria, no doubt the H6 is a far better deal, & to me they're some of the best portable cans in that price range, with the MSR7, Momentum M2 (which just dropped down from 320 to 250€ in France) & may be the Focal Listen (last stuff out from em), a bit treble & highs forward & very crisp (& better built than the shitty Spirit One S in appearence, sounding great but inevitably broken).
    Now, the Status HD2 & this world is done 😄

    b&o are the most sophisticated tv and music reproducing product making company in europe
    through their architects they offer a service, that installs the plan for a total hifi- equipment all over your house.
    before it's built. so, wenn you come into your home, you just clap in your hand and tv and hifi in all your five bathrooms,
    four bedrooms and 3 saloons go on standby. . and their soundquality equals the top-products of klipsch.

      Paweł Fotek I've owned both...H6 2 gen all the way. The clarity and articulation is insane for a close back. And even open backs would be hard pressed unless you spend twice as much. I use these at work (closed back is a must), and the only cans I liked better were the Audeze and Fostex that cost over $1000. That said, I do prefer both the others, but my wife would rip my balls off if I spent $1200 on headphones.

    Clearly this man don’t know what he is talking about. First of all the B & O A9 is not mono, Z Review commented that they do TVs now, in fact B & O has made TVs for 60 years, the Beolab 90 is infinitely better than these monitors that Z review has in every aspect. Bose has no competitor of the Beolab 90 and the acoustic signature of the two brands are completely different. Everything he said was wrong, proving to be a complete ignoramus and not knowing B & O, and never having listened to Beolab 90.
