I started my lifelong obsession with drumming because of the Animal/Buddy Rich drum battle when I was 8. I am almost 50 now and still get inspired by Animals raw talent and GIVE-ZERO-FUCKS attitude. Rita Moreno gives an excellent performance with a true natural talent for comedic flair. What a great clip!!!
There's not a lot in the way of comedy that can honestly be called timeless but the Muppets are certainly doing their best to be part of that wonderful club.
She very nearly loses it at around 2:27 -- you can't see it on her face but you can definitely hear it in her voice because the song wavers for a couple of moments and it's clearly not intended as a stylistic effect. The song wavers because she's struggling to keep herself from laughing and just barely succeeding.
For anyone wondering, Rita is saying "Hey buddy I just wanna tell you, you shouldn't do that, is not nice, do you understand? look at me when I talk to you, this is my number, and if you keep annoying me, I'm gonna smack you so hard you gonna be left dumb Cool it" This honestly sound really menacing in Spanish hahaha
