His genius, as Howie was pointing out, is that he has brought the art of Mime to the modern world on prime time television. The face paint. The striped uniform. The body language. Building a world in the mind of the audience, and adding new polish to old fashioned parlor tricks. Genius.
You know why I think he is the best? That this is the best type of comedy? I showed this whole 20 minute long video to my parents. Who DO NOT speak or understand english. Yet they understood the comedy and laughed for the whole time.
Fun fact: That exact concept was the original idea for famous character Mr. Bean. Rowan Atkinson even had the first Mr. Bean act tested with an audience of people who didn't speak english just to make sure it was universally funny

These acts and concepts seem so simple yet Tape Face makes it so incredibly entertaining by exaggerating his actions as well as playing with audio, you can really get a feel of this character he is playing and not once has he needed to speak a word. THAT takes true talent.
Okay. This takes fucking skill. This guy had full control of himself. The first act? With the mitts? 90% of the performance was his EYES. D'you know how hard it is to perform with just your EYES!? Yet he made it look absolutely STELLAR.
My best friend got me and her tickets to go see him live in NC at the DCAP for my birthday and it was incredible, he gets the whole audience involved and it was an incredible experience

One of my favorite parts of Tape Face's routine is how he always looks terrified of his own props and completely unsure of what's about to happen. Yet then he acts like the audience members should know exactly what they are supposed to do with the random props he hands them. XD

"Pantomimus"... Mime or pantomime is not just a funny thing to watch. It goes way back to ancient Greece. It's an art form. This guy is a top artist in the truest sense of the word. This is how audiences were treated without telly, internet or radio. Remarkable! My favourites are the horse actually where, and within decency, made a fool of someone to have fun, without making someone look really stupid. Brilliant! But also the four guys leaning on each other. I have spent a great deal of time wondering what it is that makes his act so special... It's not just that he's a truly terrific physical actor. It's the character itself. How he goes so quickly from being so skittish to commanding our attention is remarkable.

I am watching him again and again! BTW in his interviews he is absolutely charming and full of charisma, and his live shows are brilliant. In AGT he had a time limit unfortunately.

Dude is the best clown/mime I've seen in years. And most of my friends are professional and semi-professional circus artists, so I've seen some high class clowning.
Just found some of his other stuff and confirmed my suspicions that he has a background in burlesque when not doing Tape Face. His Tape Face bit makes so much sense in that context. It has burlesque written all over it, stylistically.

Tape Face is super nice and funny. I went to see his personal show I London and I went up stage with him! He kept coming back into the audience and sitting right behind me hehe.
Used to watch AGT with my mom in the past, none of the acts really interested me. Then, Tape Face came along, instantly, I was all eyes and ears (Though you didn't really need to listen). Every act was totally different, he was dedicated to the role, he has that "I'm weird, and I'm proud" energy to him. His look, his acts, his whole energy he had, best one ever.
Tape Face is an amazing clown. And this is in the most positive sense. He's not a stand-up comedian or anything like that. He's just a clown. An amazing clown

I am watching him again and again! BTW in his interviews he is absolutely charming and full of charisma, and his live shows are brilliant. In AGT he had a time limit unfortunately.

Dude is the best clown/mime I've seen in years. And most of my friends are professional and semi-professional circus artists, so I've seen some high class clowning.
Just found some of his other stuff and confirmed my suspicions that he has a background in burlesque when not doing Tape Face. His Tape Face bit makes so much sense in that context. It has burlesque written all over it, stylistically.

Used to watch AGT with my mom in the past, none of the acts really interested me.
Then, Tape Face came along, instantly, I was all eyes and ears (Though you didn't really need to listen).
Every act was totally different, he was dedicated to the role, he has that "I'm weird, and I'm proud" energy to him.
His look, his acts, his whole energy he had, best one ever.
2022, I still enjoy this show. Best comedy audition ever.
