Thank you so much! As a photographer who just bought a gelli plate this past weekend to turn my photos into mixed media art, I needed just this video to Help me; and that it did!
Thanks for the explanation, you get really beautiful results!! I would like to try it as well. But if you say good quality (printing)paper, do you mean the thickness or gramms of the material? I have some prints lying, so i will try all paper anyway... Just wondered.. 🤩
It's both the weight (grams) and the surface. The weight can mean less air bubbles. The surface means the toner 'sits well' on the surface and helps the resist method.
I'm an encaustic artist and I would love to do these transfers or the magazine transfers to create collage. The issue is that the encaustic wax doesn't play well with acrylics. Do you think this process would work using Speedball oil based inks? Thanks!
I'm sorry I can't help with that. I don't think you can put oil based inks on the gelplate. I only use acrylic mediums and paints. Try googling your question
I heard the printshop laser copies can have colored wax as toner and they work because of the wax, that is why home laser prints probably do not work, no waxy toner
I've not heard about wax being in the toner. Good quality home/small office laser printers do work (emphasis on 'good!'). And its also a combination with printing on good quality paper

One of these days this process will work for me with my own prints! Great photos! Great video!
Keep trying! It can be a frustrating process but the 'rejects' are often lovely too! Thanks for your comment!

@@OliveTreeMedia ah okay, so the toner will also be shinier maybe! And the more , the better it resists. Clear. Thanks for answering! :D

@@OliveTreeMedia Thanks - I will try it with the acrylics and see if it will work!

what happens if you use an inkjet print?
This method is not suitable for inkjet prints. You'd need to google search image transfer methods with inkjet prints
