    Hey lovely, I actually do find Monstera Thai to be so easy to take care and very easy to propagate and it surprises me when I hear people say they are hard to look after & grow

    i spent 280 (with tax) on my thai in the very early spring. It was shipped in below freezing temperatures with no heat pack (bc it wasn't supposed to be cold that week) and it didn't miss a beat. It grows faster than my regular deliciosa as far as who has put out more leaves during the same time. I personally think that the thai's prices are reflective of the likely quality at this point. I do think mine was TC which is perfectly fine (I say this bc I don't see a cut unless it was a top cutting), but it's roots are filling an 8 inch pot and even poke out the bottom. I haven't had any of the issues that people are claiming to have. It lives next to my deliciosa and they are fighting for the grow bulb and it may be winning LOL I do find it doesn't need watered as often which is bc of the soil it came in (coir, no noticeable amendments) so I am very stingey with the watering frequency but again, no signs of rot and still active growth. The only reason I didn't transplant it immediately was bc who I bought it from had a 3 month happy plant guarantee and the guarantee is void if you repot. Now that I have seen it is doing so well though and I have adjusted my watering I don't really feel it needs a change. I DO believe if I had got one at a place like the grocery store or lowes etc where they are in the double digits that it would have been a completely different story as Costa Farms and their random labels or lack of labels that say "tropical plant" on them are what most of my stores end up getting. I wouldn't have wanted one from Costa Farms given the known issues with the weaker stock. IIRC costa farms did launch theirs through Walmart dot com in the states and were selling them for like 300 each and seemingly offloading their inventory and shortly after that offload is when we started to hear about the root rot and other issues....

    Regarding the Thai Constellation, can't remember who made the video (maybe Kaylee Allen), but the person talked about Generation 1 Thai Cons (really old Cuttings) which are really good quality, and then Generation 2 (which are way weaker and lower quality plants). Perhaps there is already Generation 3 out now in Asia? But in Europe we had no Costa Farms Thais, they all come from the Netherlands, no need to import because prices for them are sooo low now, market got really floated with them this year, babyplant 20 Euros/Dollars, established big plant below 100 Euro/Dollars. But I have to agree, really easy grower, no root problems at all with established plants (but this baby TC ones in little plastic cups you can buy here a lot are really squishy and nothing for beginners at all)

      It might have been “pretty in green” he talks about how it’s likely due to tissue culture and somoconal variation or something like that

    Omg yes juvenile melanochrysum is so difficult! I mean if you pop it in a terrarium at least your chances of success are higher. But just buy a mature plant.

    I killed my clarinervium so fast, it was like a sad alocasia. Just would not stop turning yellow and losing leaves no matter what I did. I still don't know what I did wrong and I will not touch that plant again😂

    I have most of these plants. I agree Monstera adansonii albo is a beast. I don’t have the anthurium but I have a lux and a Doc Block f2 and are great especially the DB. My Thai is wonderful. No rotting and has been super easy.

    gah i’m obsessed with your channel. your videos are helping me so much as i get further into houseplants. thank you ❤ for philodendron florida ghost / other semi vining philodendrons would you use your epiphyte soil mix or something else? and do you think it would work ok in a hanging basket as it matures? i’ve got so little surface space and really need to stick to hanging at this point. thanks!

      @AlohaPlantLife  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you!💚 I would definitely use my epiphyte mix. You know, a mature Florida ghost might actually look kinda a cool in a hanging basket🤔 but the semi-viners won’t work very well in hanging baskets

    Drea, do you happen to know if Pink Princess or White Wizard pop up pups? Asking bc I got one of each at the grocery store in the last like 5 months and the Pink princess is 3 or 4 plants, but the smallest one when I got it was like toe nail sized leaves and now its a larger plant and they're together still. My white wizard had 5 and it was very similar, a large "main" plant and then several smaller ones off to one side. The smallest one was 2 leaves and again, each leave not much bigger than a toenail. It was the most variegated so I managed to transplant it out of there but when I did so, I didn't repot the others, so I essentially scooped it out with a little trowel, and it felt like it was connected to the mother and needed to be cut with the trowel to be freed. It is now in it's own pot and has pushed out its third leaf. Anyway, just wondering if they do pups or why the growers put so many plants in a pot, esp when they are NOT centered in a way that you would expect from a grower who is trying to make the plant look the best...

    • @AlohaPlantLife
      @AlohaPlantLife  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m not 100% certain, but since they are a cross between an upright philodendron and a climbing philodendron I suppose it could be possible since some upright philodendron do produce pups. I’d have to see fully what was going on under the soil to say for certain if that’s what’s happening in this case.

    • @Thecatnamedkiwi
      @Thecatnamedkiwi 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      My pink princess has a pup!! Haha it’s an all green leaf and an all pink leaf lol it’s really tiny. If you are worried about too many plants in one pot I would maybe consider splitting them up into different pots

      @@AlohaPlantLifeI agree with you on the Thai! My first one was much different than my second one who has done much better & maybe I’m crazy but I think the leaves are different in how they feel.
      I agree with you on each of these plants I just have to say syngoniums…. 😅 I’ve gotten 3 albos & each one from different places lost it’s variegation 😢 so I gave up on that plant! 2 went green & the other went white 🥺

    Be careful getting Florida Beauty that is variegated. I've been on lookout to buy, every time I find one it is a Green Florida that has been mislabeled. I also look up sellers, their reviews before ordering. Check their return policy as well. All very important stuff to know.
