    Will you by any chance be doing a video on how you grow your plants so big so fast, in the future, referencing the recent posts on your Instagram stories?

      Fertilizer, humidity, and light are probably the big ones

      For trailing/climbing plants, moss poles/support are absolutely essential for large leaves. These plants need something to support them and root into. Large plants need a big root system and moss poles are an extension of the roots. Trailing plants like pothos can also go on a moss pole. Sydney Plant Guy has great videos about the chop and extend method with moss poles and his plants are absolutely huge.

    I want to add p. hederaceum to this list. Are they basic and small? Yes. Can they survive in just about everywhere? Yes. Are they heart shaped? Yes. You have Micans, Lemon Lime, Brasil, Rio, Cream Splash, Silver Stripe and so on. Especially if you don’t have a ton of space or cash, these are great to start with 😍

    Thanks for another great video Kaylee. Just got my first Gloriosum. I was so excited to see it. Same price as a Cebu Blue which I also saw for the first time. Had to go with the Gloriosum as have been wanting one for a while. For those of you wondering about prices in diff countries, I am in Sydney Australia and it was $59.85. I may need to go back for the Cebu Blue. Nice to see diff plants coming through even though it is winter here. Now if only I could find a Lemon Lime Maranta! They don’t seem to exist here in Aus.

    Have you seen the Summer Glory hybrid? I've seen a few of them pop up recently, allegedly it's a Gloriosum x McColley's Finale. Velvety gloriosum leaf type with the pinky-orange new leaves of McColley's on the veining and underleaf. Not sure who's hybridizing them, but super interesting cross! Never would have thought of that combo.

    • @laurak3965
      @laurak3965 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      According to Gabriella Plants they're bred by LariAnne Garner. And they had them on sale so I just nabbed one! I'm so excited, I think it's such a fun, weird combo.

    I absolutely agree with you regarding the Dean McDowell. Good lord this guy sprouts like no other and is so easy going. It was the first of my more expensive plants (I only have 3) and I was sweating so much only to find out it’s super chill. Love it!

    Gloriosum is one of the plants that I would love to have without variegation. Just the sheer beauty of its large leaves and veins are marvelous to me. I feel like the variegation would only destroy it.

  • @dangershrike

    My Gloriosum is currently recovering from spider mites - amazingly it lost all but one leaf in the fight, and is still alive and pushing out its first new leaf since then! I really thought it was a goner, but it just shows how tough they are!

    I’m like 50% sure that the P. pastazanum white/silver is a hybrid with plowmanii… I have one (pasta x plow) and she looks nearly identical to the one in the video! But there’s no info of it on the internet so it’s just my speculation 😅 actually if someone could clarify that would help so much 😂

    Gloriosum is the best, i am quite new to plants and somehow i already have 7. Granted, 4 are babies (3 i propagated myself) but they are still easy going. They also ship well, i just got a dark form baby a few weeks ago and it is already pushing the second leaf in my care .If i find the round form i will have 8 :D

  • @nicknelson697
    @nicknelson697 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should try to do the pot by pot method of propagation on the pastazanum. That way you can keep it the way it is and you don’t have to cut it right now and you can justify it because you are in the process of propagating it lol 😆

    • @k.morrighan-buenafe552
      @k.morrighan-buenafe552 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also had a COUPLE Gloriosum that had some major root rot issues, they just didn’t want to settle in. eventually, once they settled in (talking MONTHS here), they have started taking off. I think if you can get good roots on them they are good and sturdy but I will also say that mine had a root rot issue for a while. It was really discouraging, but now that they are HAPPY I definitely see what the fuss is about.

    I'm having such a hard time with my McDowell. The last 3-4 times its tried to push a leaf out has had all the leaves shrivel and die inside the shoot. Extremely frustrating as I've been waiting for a new leaf all year and have gotten nothing!

    • @cindihinnendael6197
      @cindihinnendael6197 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the same prob you do. Mine is a year old and the leaves still die back. Roots are fine. Can’t figure out the care for it. It has 55% or higher humidity all the time. I put it outside a month ago as a last resort and it’s the same problem. The growth get bigger but then,,,poof.
