Thanks for showing your workflow here with the 303. This beat is 🔥. While it would be nice to own some of the SP’s from Roland or even an Emu SP-1200, I don’t. As a lover of the *Golden Age Of HipHop Sound* I still enjoy the content and most importantly the methods and thought processes involved with these tools. I still find a lot of these same techniques useful and try to adapt them to the tools I have. I can feel you’re very passionate about this and value the authenticity. Like creating boom bap & modern boom bap blending tools/sounds of yesterday and today. Cozz ft. J. Cole - can’t knock the hustle, Diamond District - streets won’t let me chill, Logic - man I is, Isaiah Rashad - headshots….come to mind off the top of my head. Lover of all music, but sample based has a special place in my heart.
@@BirdBoss I dig Griselda’s stuff. I don’t really like how everyone’s trying to ride the wave of that sound tho. There whole team is full of spittas so the production style suits them well. It’s kinda stripped down like some throwback freestyle cypher ish.

Really enjoyed the video. If I'm not mistaken with your drums did you sample a series of kicks, snares, hats and then truncate them to choose as you want?
Yup I believe on pad 1, channel A, I recorded a lot of kicks, pad 2 has snares, etc. I like to look for samples, but when I’m making beats I want a limited amount of drums ready to go at my finger tips so I don’t get stuck in decision making
can you make a video of loading samples onto it with the smart media card? every time I try and load them, mine flashes 100 and then goes directly to 0 and doesn't load anything. I've factory restarted it, bought a new card, reformatted the cards, named everything SMPL000(number).WAV and nothing is working.
Yup def not easy at all, you have to sort of train your brain to work this way, haven’t done resample method in a minute and have to sort of re-remember my workflow all over again🤣
Been a while since I’ve watched but yes you can sample on full quality, regular quality (long), or low quality (lofi); I believe I always sample in long mode and mono (his the stereo button make sure it’s not lit up)

I feel you! What are your thoughts on the Griselda records style of productions with minimal drums and the sample more forward along with the vocals

Don’t even bother with a card reader for the 303, too many glitches for my liking, just use line in to record any and all samples.

So the Long/Lo-Fi button is either Off, Long, or Lo-Fi. So which setting was it on?
