Donuts was sketched on an SP303 while Dilla was at the hospital and later it was arranged together on Pro Tools. It's not a myth, just an often badly described fact about Dilla's late years.
Nice. It’s still the one piece of gear I use on every single song I’ve ever made. The 303 is the 🐐. Also, Dilla used it constantly. Just not as a sampler, he used MFX12 on donuts. That’s confirmed via PB Wolf because he told me 😂. Helps to have a family member who’s signed adjacent too ST lololol. I love any 303 video thanks fam. Time to bust out my 202!!!!
i went to the store one day to get the 303, but the (OG) 404 had just came out and i bought it because he mentioned the battery option (showing my age here lol). I remember being dissapointed in the lo-fi on the OG404, and not really sounding like i hoped in general. Would you say the 303 sounds 'better' in general compared to the OG 404? I do absolutely love the vinyl sim compressor on the OG 404, the vinyl crackle was unusable though, sounds nothing like actual vinyl crackle and was just annoying. I had the exact same thing with the sp202, i knew it was limited, but not that limited to the point it's just looking cool on a shelf.
Yes. Straight up I’d never sell mine. Nothing comes remotely close too MFX12 or the Vinyl Sim. The iNfLuEnCeRs will tell you the 404mkii vinyl sim is the same…no lol. Also, dilla used it constantly, I know this because PB Wolf told me lol. But, he used the compressor as a preamp. Buy one homie. The value will only go up any way.
@@prod.lanista not quite. It's more like a dusty feature packed sampler for use in a daw. Although you could use it like an SP and perform with the new update
Great work on the vst man! Always on the look for a steal on the 303, nice quick tutorial about the 303 btw But thinking to start off with your vst first, the workflow gonna be much faster :)
I looooove the intro beat . I just bought one last year but im struggling on how to get the sound out and get it to a connect . I wish i could find a legit step by step tutorial video. But great tips anyways brotha , Trak signing out
Thank you bro! What's your setup? First, just to make sure it works (a lot of these units have busted RCA sockets nowadays), connect anything to sample from to the input RCA connection, and your output RCA speaker/mixer or whatever, maybe a portable speaker with AUX input if you have one. Press the EXT. SOURCE button and any sound coming in should be audible. If that doesn't work, try the headphone output on the front to see if you're getting any sound there. If not, there's a chance the RCA input is busted, hit some pads to see if there are some sounds already on it. About the cables, if they fit they probably work. RCA = smaller red and white cables, AUX aka 1/8" tele = headphone cable sized, 1/4" tele = the thick ones. You just need the ones that fit your setup on both ends, for example the RCA output to a portable speaker with AUX input would be RCA to 1/8". It's always output to input.
Also there's a difference between mono and stereo cables. Stereo cables usually have 2 lines on the pin. The headphone output is stereo, everything else mono (hence 2 of them)
Ohhh wow I’m screenshotting this info now thank you bro forreal . Ok all I have literally is the two sm cards , the chords it came with . One podcast soundbox , Bluetooth speaker and Chrome laptop. So when I bought it I knew I wouldn’t be able to make anything or listen cuz it’s my very first time having physical equipment to make beats I been using apps since I started I would just pretend I was on a sp 303 or any beat machine I thought I could sound like . So yea my setup is laughable but I’m willing to peep what u said so I can go away and get started
@@BlezzBeats ohh cool yes the cables should work they go right in it’s just me not having the proper headphones or speaker or mixer . I saw a guy connect it to his laptop but it might have been more updated
Get Mr. Sample here: blezzbeats.com/mr-sample 🤖 It's fun. Big promise.

My first was the Sp 202. On nearly every track since 98. I've have half a dozen of them. Now I want a 303 !

Guess what i just bought my g
no its not "confirmed" dilla did NOT use the 303 on donuts. Read the j dilla book and he can confirm that donuts was made with mpc 3000 and pro tools
Love the beat! It's been on repeat for 3 days ❤
🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thank you so much ❤️
Glad to find out reversing the sample to quickly edit the endpoint was intuitive to most users!! 👍
Alright madlib as hell good shit
Samiyam's Rap Beats Vol. 1 I think was on the 303 also! That was the Joint!
Yeah that was sick
Mmm 😋 juicy track got me wanting to go in the lab!!
Loving the intro track ❤
Thank you ❤
I had a ball with the 303 when I had it, absolutely great video my brother!!🙏🏾✊🏾💚
Yeah it was a thrill, small but very powerful at the time. I'd pick it over the MPC 500 any day. Thank you man! 👊💜

magnifique
Very unexpected creative sequencing in this plugin! Already made some bangers with it
Is it like a full daw as a plugin?

Just dropped a beat tape too check it out 🙏🏿🙏🏿👊🏿
Now that's a nicely distressed little intro beat right there
Is it possible to make a swing?
I wish I could do this without the computer 😫😫
