Hell yeah! The truth shall set you free! I do the same thing I'm my business! Though fuck ups are rare shit happens! I caught a rock weed eating and went right through the lady's sliding glass door and broke into a million peices. I was so pissed at myself but didn't blame her dogs for throwing rocks all over the grass which caused me to hit the window. I said I will cover everything $450 bucks later. They said don't worry about it and just exchanged work for the bill. They also paid half of it also! Those people today love me and I walk on water to them for being honest and giving a shit! Scrap on!
Did you email me? Two people did not respond. I feel like it was plumbing banana and the Kavanagh guy. I don’t think I was supposed to send you a mug. Can’t trick the brass man
would be dope to see a video on how you go about acquire customers. I've only done Residential service mostly, I did like 8 months at a place that serviced a lot of apartments in the area and did larger jobs. But I'm wondering how I would get larger customers like my old boss did. I guess residential service is just marketing and word of mouth. IDK man.
There is always a bit of luck involved and just making the most of the opportunities you get. Once you get in that world your name starts to grow more and more. At this point I get commercial customers from word of mouth. Commercial customers will call you eventually or a residential customer will be property manager or building engineer for their day job and talk to you about what else’s you can do etc. you just have to maximize the opportunities you do get
I do mostly service but would like to get into bidding a little bigger jobs. Do these bigger jobs usually pay deposits for materials? I know most have payment terms. I'm scared to do any jobs where im on the line for materials. I like to be the one making up the payment terms.
For the bigger jobs you need to set up a job account at the supply house for that job. You can usually get your to 100k/job and you have plenty of time to pay it. You usually make draws in the job by the 20th and they pay at the end of the month. So if you’ve don’t 1/3 of the job you would draw 1/3 of your payment and get it around the first. Some guys do it different. Sometimes I have to wait a while. It’s a good idea to have other revenue streams do you can wait for the bigger checks. After a while you’ve done so many jobs and have so many checks coming in that you don’t even care how long it takes because there is a constant influx of cash coming in.
💪
...solid as brass.
