Just a quick tip for anyone struggling with the super counter: pressing up can actually help with your timing. I've found this method super consistent-basically, press up right when you'd normally hit R1 for a high-speed evade, then follow up with square a few frames later. If you're already comfortable with high-speed evades and returns, this will feel pretty natural. All you're really doing is swapping R1 for up, with a small pause before pressing square. Once you get used to it, it becomes second nature because the muscle memory takes over. This works because evades are lenient on framing, and are done 'before' getting hit. Waiting a few frames after would put you in a better position of pressing square at the moment of getting hit. I haven’t seen many people talk about breaking the super counter down this way, but it made a big difference for me. After a bit of practice, it doesn’t feel as tricky anymore. Good luck, and hope this helps anyone giving it a try!
Bro you are the only one taking setting the cpu to super. Training with the super cpu is like a real game in rank because people come at you fast and the way you explained it must easier instead of flicking like crazy is what I was doing. I had to sub.
As someone who was a band kid, I caught on immediately to your comparison to a song. Music is also all about timing, playing the notes exactly when they need to be played, knowing the correct keys (I played alto sax), and when you have trouble with a specific part of the song you practice it over and over. A lot of players have the spirit and rhythm, but they can’t play the song right if they don’t know which fingerings play which notes. You’ve gone ahead and specified exactly what I needed to know, thank you very much good sir

Thank you, way too many "tutorials" on here just restating what is already in the in game training. I think a lot of players have trouble actually thinking about and articulating what they physically do with the controller so they just don't mention it. I knew I could hold up and do a super counter while holding, but didn't know I had to reinput up if I failed, that explains a lot of the issues I had doing it.

And already holding up and then just pressig square at the last moment helps A LOT. I can get the super counter to activate almost 50% of the times I try now, when before it was less than 5% lol. You earned yourself a new subscriber. Thanks.
I don't know if anybody knows this - but super counter can also be done in reverse, i.e. pressing square and then up. I find that using square and then up is easier on rush attacks because using the analogue stick is slower than some rush attacks so you miss opportunities to counter. pressing square is faster than pushing up. Also , when doing this - it is enough just to do a little flick up , and not push the analogue stick all the way up. When countering vanishing attacks tho , using the analogue and then pressing square is the way to go - for the exact same reason - timing a square input is more precise then timing an up input .
