On mine I adjusted the actuator rod in (shorter) 9 full turns, it was a VERY across all 6 gears at 2000 + rpm's
Great video, I think the reason for no performance gain in the last 2 gears is the RPM's start off low and it lugs at those low RPM where as the other test you are running the RPM's to the red line.
Yea I agree, wasn’t going that high in those gears
It should make a small difference and it is defueling at ~20+ psi.
Try the 7 turn mod on the wastegate. Easier
I’ll get a hydra soon
Next video: rebuilding my turbo. HAHA
Perfect excuse to tell wife to upgrade turbo lol
you can also get big boost that plugs into the waste gate but any way is that save to run like that
You need a "boost fooler", it manipulates the MAP sensor reading to keep the engine from defeuling at certain boost levels, that may not be the issue with your times being slower, but it will definitely help.
I think with a tuner I won’t need a boost Fooler
@@FixItNick most of the time there used with a tuner because when the boost goes up, it sets a check engine code, then causes defeuling, you may not need it just depending on what you do with the truck, but its something to think about.
Josh, I have a 97 7.3l stock and I tow across the country twice a year with a trailer that is about 8 to 9,000lbs and I saw a video last year that it said that with a simple adjustment you can get more boost quicker and keep the boost without hurting the engine or turbo as long as you don't over adjust it..
I'm handicapped and it said that it Greatly improved MPG and Especially if you are Towing... Please let me know if you know what that adjustment is and post it and send me the link, or just message me back to let me know what the adjustments are so i can find someone to help me get more MPG as I'm on a very low fixed income... Thanks for any help you can give.
Yes I have riffraffs boost fooler for map sensor. And I can boost to 33.5 psi on stock wheel on e99. I don't push it that hard cuz I want turbo to last longer. Lol along with a hydra. Php canned tunes. Very happy compared to Ts-6. I had for 7yrs. With an automatic. Didn't hurt it. Hydra is much more trans friendly.
Down pipe and exhaust will open the truck up.
boost is like addiction, keep it under check ;)
More boost!!
@@FixItNick hahah
i love that lol
no more the 68 psi needed
mmm i make 5-10 psi :D
OBS 7.3 though
You have that Prius mod?? Lol
@@FixItNick i have the sat for 10 years in a garage mod
I would imagine the reason you didn’t see a difference in 5th and 6th gear is because of how much it takes (high RPMs) to get our 7.3 turbos to really spool up. They really don’t kick in much until the RPMs get pretty high and when you’re cruising in 5th or 6th gear and then get on it the RPMs don’t shoot up as fast like they do in lower gears. Btw bro I had a hole in my intercooler pipe and just replaced it and went from 21 to 24psi. But like I said the RPMs have to be really high to see those numbers.
I know you already took your intercooler pipe out and there wasn’t a hole, I was just mentioning what happened to mine. Lol
Yup yup didn’t go high enough in 5th and 6th
Defuling at 20 to 22 psi
Unless you're running a good tunner that run your injector pressure up! However if you're running stock tunes I totally agree with you!
I had a box van, then when i was done with it. I put the van turbo without the wastegate into my 2001 F350 Crew Cab Dually Diesel. All i can say is wow. . Loving it. Oh and it hits 35psi
Hey Nick, you've got to use identical shift points on all testing you do for accurate data. For example always start your test in "x" gear @ "y" rpm and make your shifts @ 3000 rpm.
That will give you a better apples to apples comparison than a random shift point.
I only say this because it seems that you are.
Also what joshswafford94 said you need a boost fooler.
Do you notice any change in EGT’s during higher boost pressure?
Donno don’t have gauge yet
I believe the reason for no gain in performance on 5th and 6th gear is because the RPMs Start off low and it lugs at them low rpms where as to the other tests you are running the RPMs to the max at redline
Yea that’s true
Can't you just put a boost controller on it and push it to its thermal efficiency
I’m curious about how many more miles you’ve put on your truck since you made this video and if you’ve noticed any increased wear that would have been avoided if it was kept stock.
Just unplugging the waste gate isn’t going to do much on a truck with a stock fuel system. I’ve unplugged it on a couple trucks with stock fuel and it didn’t increase max boost much at all. Maybe 2 pounds
Happe to me at 5 and 6 gear it because boost is not beein release where it need to go...on a take of yea is Gona be better take off cause all the boost is been push into the wheel so when u in a higher rpm or higher mileage is all hot 🔥 🥵 boost and hot air begin push into the combina wheel
Hell ya brother! ALL THE BOOST!
Thx man, Decided to get new Billet WG gonna test both see what they do
Down pipe and wastegate will help you get to 25 psi much faster!
Downpipe????
@@FixItNick yes sir. i got a full exhaust system on ebay for 385 bucks with a 4" downpipe and 5" straight thru exhaust the rest of the way it frees up the exhaust flow and allows the turbo to spool much faster as it is less restrictive. think about an engine as an air pimp the more air you can get in the more fuel you can throw and the bigger the bang. the faster and more efficiently you can get the air out the the better. i spent like 1200 bucks thats including a tuner and doubled the performance of my 7.3 you're on the right track! do an exhaust and a tuner next and youll be blown away man. keep up the videos i love the content!
I agree the stock waist gates are very weak
I got something coming :)
6th hear my 2000 7.3 has 4 then goes to drive?
6 speed standard transmission.

Ну да не хватает просто времени
@@FixItNick есть приложения которые сами переводят. Смотрю канал одного немца-реставратора так там все четко переводится. Не переживай мне и так по видео почти все понятно😂
You can actually hear the turbo now
Yea cuz can boost higher
Which is a stopwatch get human racatio t I’mme to factor in. about how consistent was that
Question.....will you not get a light if a 7.3 defuels????
I get overboost engine light
I think it pops up the SES light
Interesting numbers, like you said it probably needs a tuning kit
Tuner yup I’ll get one soon
mine doesn’t get over 10.
Do you drive it daily like that? Have you had any issues with it being off?
No Probs nope
How you hook up your boost gauge?
I am new to the you to comment but I have a question I have a 02 Powerstroke F350 that have 30 over injectors and Stage 1 high pressure oil pump my problem is it soon as it sees 4 about 5 pounds of boost at falls on its face sometimes I will have to slow down to 20 miles an hour at 2 I can build a couple of pounds of boost again any ideals
Leaky up pipes? Intercooler leaks at any of the boots. I was gonna buy a guys truck and the whole intercooler pipe was disconnected on the passenger side. Check all the boots on both intercooler pipes and the spiders going to the engine
Clean the filters inside the fuel tank. Mine did the same thing. Dropped the tank removed the fuel pickup assembly and fuel intake screens. They were super gummy. After cleaning it was like magic.
The interior is looking great bro
Thanks
@@FixItNick What seats will bolt straight in that body style of superduty?
YOU HAVE ONE CUTE SON....
Thx buddy
INTERIOR LOOKS GOOD. NICE JOB...
Thanks
Dude
arent the adjustable
Not 100% but I have heard that the trucks defuel at 21-22 psi
I think it’s possible, tunes fix that issue
Je suis d Algérie
mine rotted off so i didnt have to pull it
Haha
How did you get yours to sound like a jet engine inside of the cab. I can’t even hear my turbo
The Napa 6637 intake, I have one on my truck and it makes the turbo sound badass
Bonjour
You didn't improve your time because you didn't increase the amount of fuel in the cylinder. What this tells us is at 18psi you were pretty much burning all the fuel. On the wastegate thing, if you aren't making over 25psi stock then there's no reason to change it when you could just leave it unplugged. You DO NOT want to boost over 25psi on the stock turbo or you will start shortening the life of the turbo dramatically. Paying money for a shiny new wastegate if the truck won't boost over 25psi is almost a waste of money unless you want peace of mind knowing you won't go over 25psi. Great video as always Nick, keep em coming and I'll stay tuned.
Nah just not enough RPMs in 5th and 6th
@Matt Caldwell this makes no sense. It can burn rich in the sense that it’s not fully combusting all of the fuel and expelling black smoke. It’s not the same running rich as a gasoline.
@Matt Caldwell why are you bringing rich and lean into the conversation anyway? No one mentioned that, it’s useless information to the subject.
@Matt Caldwell and also saying that hearing will impact acceleration far more than anything else is also useless. Everyone knows taller gear accelerate faster but you completely hose your top end. What use is that? So fueling is much better than changing your gearing. Again you added irrelevant information.
@Matt Caldwell saying you didn’t increase the amount of fuel in the cylinder isn’t saying it’s running rich. You need more fuel for more power 🤣 Jesus Christ you’re an idiot
YOU CAN UPGRADE THE GARRET TURBO ALSO...
Not for a while I want to get tune to improve mpg more and be more fun
Hey Nick, change these Green lights on the panel. Use some T10 Led
The dash lights are white, there's a green film that has to be removed with alcohol or acetone on the back of the instrument panel
I wanna do 8-11 or 12-15 dash swap so I’ll see what I can do
Interested to know how this effected your egts?
No idea
@@FixItNick Do EGTs not concern you? Just interested in why.
Auto is way faster
And weaker lol
Maybe some. Mine has been built and have a 5qt cooler added. Seems to be doing good so far hauling 20 round bales
Николай ,если не секрет,форд к продаже или себя для семьи?

@@FixItNick Жаль,что не успею приехать и купить, зачётный трак получился!
I think the problem here is because the injectors on these trucks are somewhat small. So more psi of boost could be making it so you aren’t getting the correct amount of fuel.
That line you removed from waste gate, does it originate at a turbo control valve? I understand on some setups a person can obtain different (TCV's = turbo control valve) in fact a person can manufacture their own TCV and make it adjustable. After you upgrade to better waste gate it would be great to see a build and install of a self made TCV. Really enjoy your videos. I own a 1999 E F-350 also and have some of the same mods you are doing. Mathew is doing great work also.
Hi I myself just found out my 99 f350 is early99, this whole time I thought out was a late99,lol. Which mods do you recommend me doing. Thanks!
@@francishartman7749 Think one of the best upgrades is to the more powerful IDM which really improves the electric power to injectors. its like going from 110 to 220 ac. Have a 4x4 auto trans. put a much larger trans cooler up front , runs nice a cool , big difference. then did the riff raff oil and cooler lines which you just saw done on this site. throw in that bigger air filter and you should have a very reliable and smooth running unit. Also have 5 inch exhaust system . Sounds good runs cool.
We have been through 3 turbos with snapped shafts after doing this. Reinstalled and never broke a shafts again.
Is it safe to push that much boost into that slug of an engine
My 7.3 is stock and makes 24psi and powerstoked made 25 stock.
@@twayland6186 Yeah. The head bolts on these trucks are good till about 35-40 psi. Above that you start increasing your chances of lifting a head. The stock turbo is another story haha. Those don't necessarily like going over 25+ very often.
Yea it’s fine just not all the time
Does this work on all 7.3 powerstrokes?
94.5 to 97 powerstrokes have no wastegate
@@68torinobc I'm aware of this
@@68torinobc that's why I'm able to run 35 psi out my stockish turbo
