My heated mirrors have stopped working as well. Both at the same time. Fuse #39 is good. When i got the fuse panel out i unplugged and checked for continuity from the harness at the fuse panel to the harness at the mirror plug in. There are 6 prongs at the mirror plug in and i had continuity to 3 of the prongs. Im assuming that confirms the problem lies inside the panel and i need to do the same deal you did? Im not good with vehicle electronics. I dont have any of the upfitter switches, so which wire would i splice to, to have constant power when the ignition is on?
Funny, I had one today, 06 super duty and the heated mirrors never would shut off. There was a 1.5 amp parasitic drain on the battery. I pulled the fuse and the drain dropped to less then 200ma. I'm in Florida so most likely it will never be replaced. But if you wanted a switch you could get a fuse bridge, add an inline fuse and toggle switch, then just don't leave it on.
