As the proud owner of this beautiful, handsome golden, I want to thank all of you for your kind comments for Duncan. It breaks my heart to announce that this amazing handsome boy has passed and left us after only 7 years due to a rapid cancer of the blood vessels. We were playing ball with him one day and the next day he collapsed with no prior symptoms. This type of cancer (hemangioscarcoma) has no systems until the tumors release and you are forced to make the humane, loving decision to give him peace and not let him suffer. Right up until the end have gave us braveness and kindness...and let us know how much he meant to us and how much we meant to him. I have been in pain for months and could not bring myself to write that he is gone. But every time I come on and read these comments and watch my boy on video, it brings me comfort from those of you who understand and appreciate that dogs likes these are amazing souls on this earth and beyond. Many of you saw how gracious Duncan was on this video, but I had the pleasure of raising him and being brightened every day by his love and I am so proud of him. Thank you again, to all of you.

When I had to say goodbye to mine after his brain cancer, I tried to take comfort in that he was loved and was always happy and enjoyed himself, never neglected or alone. I enjoy videos like these, refreshing my memories of him, Julian, and those silly traits they share. I miss his signature dopey smile and then that super serious face (mouth closed, ears perked) when he hears a potato chip bag crinkle from the kitchen, kind of like at 8:00. The gentle playfulness, willing to play or chill at any given moment, whatever you wanted. Point is, it makes me sad but it's worth the loss. These videos make me feel like I have him still, in a way, when I see things they do that he did. The way Duncan plays with the kid reminds me a lot of Julian.

It has been a year since Lucky passed-he was a remarkable golden who was super sweet and gentle with everybody especially kids-they have another sense and level of understanding around kids that a lot of other dog breeds don't.I miss that boy he was and always will be in my heart and soul forever.Very cool video-God bless your puppy

I lost my beloved Golden at 7 years old from cancer as well. He died in 2007 and I still miss him so much. He looked so much like your beautiful pup and had a very similar personality. So gentle and sweet.
lol Duncan dropped the ball then looked at Mikey almost like he was telling him to fetch the ball! We used to have a golden and we literally bought tennis balls every 2 weeks until we found out she was stashing them under the couch... about 49 tennis ball under 2 couches XD

First to say, I’m truly sorry for your loss! My daughter spent her two first years in life with my Labrador, before he was put down due to very high age. I’m happy to see your little one so secure and happy around your lovely dog, and also to see you parents stay close to them. I never left our dog alone with my daughter, even though I could never dream of him hurting her.
It's one of the strange and yet beautiful things about these animals, that they live their entire lives in a fraction of the time that we live ours. So not only do they teach us the meaning of unconditional love, and loyalty, but also, of death. They are truly a gift from God.

Im 14 I've been waiting to have a dog like this for 12 freaking years!!!!!!!!!! Now I have to wait another 10 years after college for a furry best friend!!!!!!!! Trust me you get bored and lonely if your the only child without a dog!!!!!!
You're smart to wait until after college--some of my classmates got dogs and then have to give them up because they couldn't give them enough attention. I can tell you will be a great dog owner!
K.J. Temple I minded my sister's Golden while she went on holidays and could not believe the amount she shed. I used to laugh. Grace would stand there and you could see the hair floating off her. Beautiful, beautiful dog.
maybe I should mention that I'm allergic to dogs, cats, horses, some grasses and seeds and Elastoplast and almost anything that's too highly perfumed (headaches and/or rashes). I own a Staffy but their hair is very short and coarse and vacuums up easily. Even then, I will have an attack very now and then but I will NOT give him up. And the other day, completely out of the blue, I had to get a skin cancer removed and I reacted to the stitches. The doctor is still scratching her head of that one.

Very worst attack (both eyes, one shut and the other almost) was from an German Shepherd. I figured I did something truly awful in a prev life so this is how the gods have punished me this time around. Still given me the love for animals but cursed me with the allergy. Oh, well, hoping for a better life next time. :) :)

I've said it many times before and I'll repeat it here. The Golden Retriever is the best family dog there is. While I adore dogs like the Lab, the Golden is very docile and gentle relative to most breeds in addition to its high intelligence and human loving personality. Small dogs tend to be wild and loud and overstimulating to babies and toddlers. And most big dogs are a bit too physical and can hurt kids unintentionally. You just have to love the Golden Retriever for this. Since I don't have kids and don't want any any time soon, I'll stick to high energy dogs that like to rough house, but I think Golden Retrievers are great.
if there's a heaven I have 2 pairakeets, 3 catz, 5 Shelties & Sheeba (Sharbull) currently waiting at the bridge for me & it's a toss up to see if my current Shelties Grape Nehi & Q-tip get to the bridge before me. That's a SUPER well trained dog. Any time that baby's hand got close to her mouth it stopped chewing immediately. It's like it knew to be gentle.
