  • Hey there.
I've recently been getting questions about what the Preamp A Solo and OD/DS Solo functions do, and how they work.
In this video I'll go through the two options and also show how to set them up, and what purpose they'll be good for.
As always, if you have questions or requests, then please let me know in the comments-section, and I'll see what I can do.
Thanks for watching & have a great day!
    Cheers.

Just a note to say "THANKS" for your great Boss GT-1 tutorials. You have provided clarity to what would otherwise be a tortuous process of self-learning, since their reference guides/manuals only scratch the surface in fully understanding the various features. If you are not already on it, Boss should seriously consider adding you to their payroll!! Cheers back at you!!

Thank you so much for your comment, and kind words, it's all greatly appreciated!
Glad I could help, and if you need anything, just let me know.
Can't say I am, sadly, but I surely wouldn't mind - come on BOSS!

Doesn’t feel like I’m making much progress yet but I’ve been down this road before and know that if I stay at it consistently, it will fall into place. From this video I finally see how to get the delay that I want and that I’d like to assign to CTL1. For one part of a song I need a huge delay that would over saturate the riff if left on. Thanks for these videos.

Hi, thks for the videos, I'm learning a lot about my new GT 1, I have one question, how can I get the prA Solo function permanent. I mean, for get free the ctl1 space free to use with another effects or functions.

    • @GuitarNTabs

      Hi there.
You would have to set-up an Assign for it, to be active permanently... Get a Boss FS-7, for extra control, and that will help you out.

Thanks for your kind words, and for your comment!
Great suggestion, Fritz! Thanks for that, I'll definitely look into that!
Those genres are most of what I play anyway, so that should be great to dive into, for sure.
I'll see what I can come up with, and find the time to record some videos and sound samples :-)

No, I haven't tried any of those, yet.
They seem really good, but they miss some key functions, I think - especially the Assigns..
From what I can see, the Mooer boards doesn't feature as many Assigns, or options for that...
Do you own any of the Mooer boards?

I set some patches to my preference, and wonder if it’s possible to set the volume equally to all these patches.

      Hi there, Diego.
I'm very sorry for the late reply, I've been behind on answering comments...
It is possible, but it's tricky... The term is called "Level Matching".
Basically you should have a "reference level" to level all effects, preamp, etc. to.
You'll need some sort of metering device, either from your phone or from a recording software.
I tend to use the meter in Cubase.
      I hope this helps.
      Cheers.

I'm running through amp head and cab a stack. So I'm trying to figure out how to turn the preamp off so that any patch I go to there is no preamp and I can't seem to figure out how to do that. Obviously with the amp stack I do not need a preamp in ANY patch. So please tell me how do I turn the preamp off on all the patches so I don't have to turn it off on each one individually.. getting very frustrated..

I've already replied to your other post, with the same question. Don't worry, I always reply and answer, but I need to have a free moment to do so, so it all depends on the day.

No, the GT-1 does not support IRs, but that's really no problem, the GT-1's onboard preamp models are excellent and natural sounding.

      Otherwise let me know.

      Hi there, Christine.
Thanks for your comment and response. I hope you're well and having a great weekend.
I got two email notifications about two comments you posted, but I can only find this one, but I can see the other one in my mail, so I will answer both questions here, I hope that's okay.
You talk about not being able to find decent sounding preamp distortion tones, and I might know why.
If you use the GT-1's preamp models along with your own valve amp, then you are running two different preamps at the same time, and they might interfere with each other, causing your tone to be less than desirable... Always, when using the GT-1's preamp models, you should connect through the valve amp's effects loop return or something else, and change the Output Select to one of the Return settings. If you only want the GT-1's effects, then always turn OFF the GT-1's preamp button, when running into the input of your valve amp, and set the Output Select to match the valve amp, whether it's a combo amp, stack amp, etc.
The ME-25 is a good pedal, but I'm sure the GT-1 can compete and even produce better results in the end. It all really comes down to tweaking and dialing in the tones you're after. This also requires some patience and knowledge of gain stages, level matching, etc.
Please let me know if I can assist in any way, for you to enjoy your GT-1. I'd be happy to.
Thanks for your comment - I appreciate it.
      Looking forward to your reply.
      All the best.

I didnt understand something, can i use this pedalboard without amplifier ? I mean that i can use that only with the pedalboard and with and speakers(like a good speaker with a mixtable) i dont have a good amplifier so i need a pedalboard who can work without that

    • @GuitarNTabs
      @GuitarNTabs  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@Carlos Vera - Excellent question - thanks for that 😊
Yes, you can use the GT-1 without an amplifier. The GT-1 has both effects and preamps/cabinets inside.
When using the GT-1's preamps/cabinets, I would recommend using either headphones, studio monitors, PA-speakers, etc. anything like that. You can also use your own amp, if it has an FX Loop. If you connect the GT-1's left mono output, to your amplifier's effects loop return, then it will bypass the preamp-section on your own amp, and only use the power-amp section, which is the speaker(s), and that will only output the sound and tones coming from the GT-1. That's another option, if your amp has an effects loop return.
I've had the GT-1 since it first came out, and I've used it straight to the PA, on every gig I've played, and I'm very happy with the sound and the tones.
I'd be happy to help out more, if you need it, so just let me know.
You would have to do some initial set up steps, so let me know if we should dig a little deeper - in order to get the most out of the GT-1.
Have an excellent day, and thanks for your comment!
      Cheers.

@@davepilgrim5798 - Hello there, and sorry for the late reply...
Yes, if your amp doesn't have an effects loop return, and you want to use the GT-1's preamp models, then you can use the AUX In, if your amp has that.
If you just want to use the GT-1 for effects, then just connect it to the front input of the Katana.
      I hope this helps.
      All the best.

      @GuitarNTabs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@davepilgrim5798 - You're welcome.
Well, if the Katana has got an AUX In, then you can connect through that, if you wish to use the GT-1's onboard preamp models.
If you choose this way, then set the Output Select to either Line/Phones or Combo Amp Return.
If you only wish to use the GT-1 for its effects, then I would recommend just plugging into the front Input, like one normally would.
If you choose this way, then set the Output Select to Combo Amp.
I hope this helps - let me know.
      All the best.

You have to keep the preamp model's gain and volume levels at the proper levels.
Also if you have an overdrive or distortion on, at the same time, and its gain and level parameters are turned quite up, then it'll only get worse.
You often need less gain than you think, trust me.
What preamp model are you using, and what settings?

Great choice of going with the GT-1, it's a beast!
It's very important to get it set up correctly - in order to get the most out of it!
I would personally skip all the factory presets, and create your own, that's where the real gold is to be found.
The factory presets are only there to show how extreme things can get...
