  • Herat ,Afghanistan … my last day in Herat ! Met a couchsurfer called Eshan that showed me around after the taxi driver ! Had another incident with Taliban for filming in a street ( no women around ) just a street with shops , they told me only to film the historical areas even though i had all the permits etc to film … they actually went through my photos on my phone !!
Met some lovely locals and found the kite street where they sell and repair kites … time was up in Herat , didnt feel comforable filming anymore but loved tge place and people i met

Loved the kite section - reminded me so much of being with the kids in the villages of India. Flying the kites across the village sky and attempting to “cut the lines” of competing kites in the sky. Cutting the lines by having your kite line rub against another.
    Brilliant! 🪁

    • @phoenixrising8640

With no offence to Emma. Our IEA security forces do know what they are doing. All countries security forces will take in anyone for questioning if they feel that they need to and I would rather our IEA security forces be thorough and leave no stone unturned to protect us, tourists and our national security. In other countries, security forces are less overt, only because they have better spying technology so don't have to go through a tourists/citizens phone in person because they have software that automatically does it for them without anyone's knowledge. After decades of war and still the presence of other countries secret services agencies in Afghanistan and the occasional ISKP attack, the IEA security forces need to be alert. I think that because other vloggers usually stay for much shorter periods of a few days and Emma stayed for 2 months, this obviously was a red flag for them. In time, things will settle but it definitely can't be now, it will take time and once we have better surveillance equipment and structures in place.

      @mismail6080 ปีที่แล้ว +4

You are stupid! By saying that. Not taliban. They are our security forces and every one has to obey and respect them.
Any one not respecting them are our enemy and the enemy of Afghanistan.
She has to obey and respect the rules in Afghanistan or any other country.
Shame on you for saying bad things about your own people. Taliban government and their forces are even now better then lots of other countries police. They respect all these TH-camrs whom are mostly from the countries who bombed and killed 100s of thousands of afghans for the past 40 years .and even now waging economic and media war against afghans .
We are stoped many times in the Uk ports for just being Muslim and held for up to 7 hours for nothing.
And to Emma please do not portray that afghans and Talibans are deferent. They are over all the same people. You are meeting a very small minority in your visits and you think the majority has the same opinion. Which is not correct.
Good luck with the rest of your trip to Afghanistan.

    • @WanderingEmma
      @WanderingEmma  ปีที่แล้ว +5

I’ve spent 2 months in Afghanistan so I think I know the “rules” I had the permits to film ! I wasn’t doing anything wrong! They disregarded the paperwork and permits I got in Kabul , which actually happens a LOT, there are good Taliban and there and not so good Taliban …. Tourism is in its “fragile” early days so I understand they have to learn how to deal with tourists and the majority are good with tourists, they don’t communicate the rules which is something they have to do if they want tourists to come and not have to worry about getting taken to the police station and have them go through your phone and look at your photos ! I was in a normal area like every other city I’ve been ….

    • @mismail6080
      @mismail6080 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@WanderingEmma
I know everything you said, and I am following your videos in Afghanistan. And I thank you for visiting Afghanistan also, I was born there and was there till 2000 I was there in 90s when we could not go from one small area to another and there was war in each street in Afghanistan with deferent authorities ,so I went through everything in Afghanistan and I also visited around 50 countries myself. So I know especially the mentalities of the deferent groups in Afghanistan but a women like your self which also has much experience around the world
Should know , Afghanistan had gone through 43 years of war , and it is just over one year since it has been liberated from the invaders and the warlords.and there are still foreign intelligence involved in Afghanistan to destabilize Afghanistan through proxies through bombings and another tactics. So the current government does not have centralized system to check each person permit on the go. They are told to report any un usual activities to their superiors , and this is why they are stoping you are any another tourist or even afghans whom they think is doing something suspicious .and all talibans are not from foot soldiers to the high ranking person with authority has the same experience or knowledge .so we have to be patient with them and not expect they will be same in 34 cities of Afghanistan .
Their are too much deferent attitude towards the foreigners in deferent places in Afghanistan by both government security forces and normal afghans.
Some would be good, and some
would be rude as you expect every where. I know one thing for sure you will be safe 100% in Afghanistan. And that is the main thing.
So at end I wish you again good time there .

IF ONLY I WERE A KITE
I often sit gazing at the sky above
With my head in the clouds
Wishing I was a kite in the sky
Doing aerial ballet dancing in mid - air
Rising like a ship, riding over high waves in the Ocean and sea
    Over hills and mountain tops
    Riding upon the breeze
Soaring high up in the sky
If only I were a kite
I would dress in different colours every day
To express happiness and the way I feel
I would live my life with my own free will
I would fly with my freedom in the sky
A life of freedom as I choose
Free from the horrors and troubles of this world
If only I were a kite
I would witness the beauty in the sky not seen from down below
I would travel the world as a whole
I would cover the distance between the earth and the sky
I would fly with the birds and touch the clouds

Seems the government/men in power (NOT THE CITIZENS) trying to erase women from society so they are not seen, educated, heard, almost like they don't exist in public.. they only exist inside and not part of society .
And no that is not hating on culture or religion at all... I think ur culture is beautiful and I dont believe the level of the way the govt is treating women is ur culture at all !
just seems like a government issue and is very sad.
also don't wanna hear anyone say "don't tell us what to do with OUR women". Like people always say no matter where they are from when defending sexism. I doubt most of the population even agrees with these things (removing women completely from society so they aren't seen or heard)
And the few that do, 1. sexism is not a part of any culture. All places have sexism it just manifests in different ways according to the government. 2. Women are just as much people as men. They are their own people. They don't belong to you. They have their own personhood and should be able to choose if they want to be seen and heard and part of public spaces / society or not.
Nothing wrong with women who want to stay inside just saying they should be able to choose.
Anyway much love to Afghanistan and very happy there is no war or occupation anymore and DON'T believe most of the people think that about women. Just commenting on what Im seeing some of the government doing.

And I'm not insulting Afghanistan at all. I live in United States and I call out all the corruption in my government all the time, and the evil that goes on in it. Doesn't mean I hate my own country or people that live here obviously. The people are always better then the government and should not be seen as the same

I like your videos to remind me of my former visits to Afghanistan, but it is so sad that you can only interact with men. You can only depict half of Afghan life. Women in Afghanistan are not even recognized as human beings, just ghosts. 😢

Why the fuck you want to interact with our women in Afghanistan it’s not in our religion and culture so if you want to come visit respect the culture and religion.

@@afg786malang8 they are fed up of how the western men treat them, so they want to go to Muslim countries and corrupt Muslim women. Fortunately the chaste Muslim women want nothing to do with loose western women.

Better than being displayed as naked sex object.

I myself have never been displayed as a naked sex object by the way. It is a long stretch of the imagination from going to my office dressed in a business suit, which I know Afghan women cannot do. Afghan men need to learn that women are not to be owned or controlled by men. They are equal human beings with same rights as men.

@@christelstevens don’t only think about your self lady think about the millions of women getting raped murdered abused by husbands and boyfriends and strangers everyday in USA , women covered and lowering their gaze prevents 95% of those those crimes I live in Philadelphia Pennsylvania if you look at this cities statistics of crimes against women it does not compare to the whole of Afghanistan so stop being blind and dont look at just your self just because your little tutti fruity self is coming out in business suit it don’t mean anything.
