All these tricks are fixed in Versus mode, some of them maybe still work in Campaign, but it was fun to use them in Versus :(

I don’t get it I play L4D2 versus on Xbox and these still work on Versus i do these all the time. Especially the Dark Carnival Truck skip

My friend and I would perform the grenade launcher jump trick all the time back in the day. One amazing thing we did was jumping over the fence in Dark Carnival's motel survival map and then continuing like it was a regular campaign. We even discovered a hidden survival map at the roller coaster. Sadly, we never got past that point.

If you use bile on parish bus depot and get out u can get to next chapter and get to hidden survival map lol the part where you have to call the tractor until you get across... good times man glad some of us had the secret/crazy experiences lol

Holy shit I did the same exact thing! We were so hyped when we realized we could actually play survival on the roller coaster map.
Oh yeah the motel trick to get past the fence was the shit back then.
Everytime i loaded into that map with randoms 90% of the time.
All in the lobby did the grenade launcher trick xd. It was also the same with dead center and many other maps lol.
I miss the old days on the xbox 360. I swear l4d2 for me back then was a drug i just could not stop playing the game as a kid.
I'm glad I could grew-up playing L4D2, TF2 & other games like that with my friends... This is great nostalgia!

Some of them work fine in the campaign just to make it fun and keep the atmosphere, but I do understand that they patched it on versus making the game more balanced.
Most of them were patched out of campaign without explanation, despite them explicitly stating they wouldn't do so. They have, however, since stated that they will not be unpatching any harmless tricks from campaign, but will (and have been) focusing on unpatching the speedrun tricks, which of course are the only things that *should* have been patched from campaign in the first place.

@@davida7229 since the last stand update never rolled on the 360,they shouldn't be fixed,plus on the demo version(only available on the 360)tricks like the pipe bomb flying shouldn't be fixed.

in versus i get, its all good to remove them, but why in campaign? even before patches, i never found randoms using them, either people didnt do it often in open lobbies, or people just didnt know

So much so that during that time, when you guys move onto making CSGO content, it used to make me a little offended. Lol. Although pretty much all of these except the first one are an exploit, I do wish some of them weren't patched in campaign. It just takes the fun out of it when you can't execute them for good old times' sake. I get it for Versus, but the Dark Carnival truck/bus jump did not need to go.

I used to play this game on my Xbox 360 and I remember doing a lot of glitches, tricks, and whatnot but then they updated the game so that got rid of all the fun stuff especially with those pipe bomb glitches. I also had a USB mod menu for the game offline (well actually it was more like button binds so I needed to look at the controls for what does what) but after that update it wasn't possible anymore and I think I even tried getting it again
Good old memories guys really remember old things and see it fixed really makes me sad

@@kitasan_onegai Versus had all skips and cheatspots patched for competitive fairness, for co-op only the abusable ones were patched, like ones that let you softlock the game or force teammates to die/prevent them from proceeding.
The biggest reason why they patched it on VS because many players dont know these bug/glitches and they will report those players who abused them and get banned afterward. To prevent those issue happened, they patch EVERY possible abused bug on VS to make them fair and clean. But on Campaign, they just fixed some broken bugs and let rest of it still present since they only play Single player or Co-op without against real players.
However, current Turtle Studio really bad on everything and any kind of bugs/tricks they found now being fixed and nerfed most of it to ensure "experience" instead of "fun". This is the main reason why Back4Blood is bad and most players left it and play L4D2 again since it was much more fun and less annoying than B4B.
I already played L4D2 for almost 800 hours and I dont feel bored at all while on B4B just below 10 hours and quit forever since everything messed to the point where game is "unplayable" and asking AI means you are dead meat (Brainless AI)

Life always finds a way. There are glitches and exploits that still work to this day on survival mode, for example, even If some got a lot more technical since the TLS update (accessing the hidden roller coaster map has become one heck of a challenge, but it is no less rewarding and novel). New ways of exploring the maps and maneuvering around the environment of this masterpiece of a game won't ever cease to be discovered. Though they may have standardized most of Versus for the sake of balance, they'll never be able to completely suppress our thirst for buggy skips and glitchy parkour. The formidable source engine paired with the unforgettable locations the plot takes us through is but one of the many reasons why Left 4 Dead 2 is a game we will continue to love and cherish no matter the year and no matter the age.

Loved this game to death. Has over 700+ hours on it. And they were mostly experienced with friends I met in-game.
I may have missed it, but you guys remember using the pipe bomb and throwing it in front of you and it would cause you to stumble? I used to do that and there was a glitch to where when you swapped weapons it would reset the stumble animations and It would just guide you backwards for however long you swapped weapons, I remember skipping whole maps and getting on top of the midnight riders stage and in that little window in the finale of dark carnival and you couldn’t even be touched!! And In the finale in The parish you were able to angle yourself to stumble right from the beginning of the gate droppin on the bridge right to the helicopter and you couldn’t be touched, the infected and tanks would despawn and respawn! Those where the days.
That was only in the first version of the game, it was patched after, but all this worked in the patch after, but they patched it again and took away all the fun.
The tricks and stunts for me is what made 70% of left 4 dead so fun. Sad to see most of these tricks are completely lost to the ages.
These glorious tricks will be remebered... Those golden days will be remebered... Godspeed, thy legendary glitches

The trick in the beginning of Dark Carnival still works today. You just have to jump at a certain angle and crouch jump. It's still just as easy as it was years ago.
Edit: The roller coaster trick still works too.

I remember opening a server to be public with my friend just for shits and giggles and this one dude joined who had like 7k+ hours on the game, the dude solo speedran the campaign at first and then started sticking around showing us some tricks like how you can jump off the roof ledge in the start of no mercy at a certain angle so it doesn't ledge grab, and then hug the wall while falling to hit an AC unit or drain to negate falldamage to skip the entire indoors sequence at the start and get straight to the street.
One of the greatest co-op games ever, it's a statement nobody can argue with.
16:32 - I remember doing that building skip, but not like that. You'd jump into the tree on the corner, lose some hp but otherwise fine. No fuss.
To clarify for those who are afraid they're gone for good, it seems like a good majority of them were only fixed for versus mode. They seem to work still in campaign mode.
18:40 You can still jump the fence here and skip the panic script but it's much harder.

Revisiting those old tricks reminded me on how cool L4D2 was before the TLS in September 2020. Nowadays I find 10vs10 servers more enjoyable because the vanilla game has become boring since most of these were patched up.

I feel like JaiZ removed these tricks cause he got clapped by people doing them. And he was unable to repeat them, therefore him and his group of friends removed the fun from l4d2 and also removed the laughs and taunts cause they were salty after people spammed them whenever they got clapped fair and square.
Dude that Dead Center rocket jump.. I remember staying up for HOURS on an unofficial server playing Survival abusing that glitch to get insane times.. Great fucking times.

one exception is the hard rain drop. trying to revive a friend mid-air immediately kills you. this is because other people have to kill themselves in order to advance and it may be not fun for them.
funny enough, if one kill themselves near the wall in the same elevator spot, teammate from other side of the wall can defib the dead one and skip still works.

you do know turtle rock unpatched some of these bugs like the hard rain elevator skip or the dead center roof glitch. They're only available in campaign tho.

Wow, they removed exploits, most of which required no skill to use and totally screwed over the other team, so sad. Most of the skips are fixed only in competitve modes anyway. So i don't get why people mourn skips, since most of them are still in the game.
@@Mysterious_Pootis The tricks that were patched in co-op were also just the harmful ones.
The Hard Rain elevator skip for example let you softlock the rest of the team, since they can't proceed down the elevator without everyone inside. Same for the Parish Bridge trick, if you went far enough nothing would attack you anymore, allowing you to softlock the round.

Как же хорошо что все эти баги, глитчи и так называемые "трюки" наконец-то починили. Хоть немного но все-таки паблик сервера очистились от чёртовых глитчеров которые портили игру обычным игрокам и ломали игровой опыт. Игра превратилась в соревнование идиотов, в котором эти идиоты соревнуются в том кто быстрее залезает на шкафчики в кампании "No Mercy", в том кто быстрее заспидранит до конца игры и кто более круто сможет скипнуть половину кампании. В тоже время такой стиль игры очень часто и сильно пропагандируется "игроками", как будто это правильный способ игры но нет... как раз таки это НЕ правильный способ игры. Игра в первую очередь кооперативный шутер сурвайвл хоррор, а не соревнование в том кто по быстрее сломает колизию объектов. Вместо того чтобы играть в команде, исследовать локации, наслаждаться геймплеем и играть так как задумали разработчики, многие вот такие "профессиональные" игроки просто берут дигл, дробовик и милиху, начинают спидранить как молния Маквин и потом еще осуждают и начинают указывать как играть нормальным игрокам, которые хотят играть в Left 4 Dead, а не в подобие Соника в декорациях Left 4 Dead. И нет, я ничего против не имею всех этих багов, глитчей и так далее, я иногда тоже люблю просто по приколу и для удовольствия немного поиздеваться над игрой, расслабиться и поломать игру но для этого существует такая функция как СВОЙ ЗАКРЫТЫЙ СЕРВЕР со своими ДРУЗЬЯМИ либо другими рандомными людьми с желанием на чиле поиграть с багами, которых найти в интернете невероятно легко но нет... множество подобных игроков начинают указывать что нужно делать обычным игрокам на паблике, навязывать то что нужно брать только дигл, дробовик и милиху, ну и как обычно, кикают всех не согласных игроков и не идут на контакт если попросить играть без подобных багов и глитчей в данном матче/раунде/катки

Хочешь играть без богоюзеров, спидранеров, читеров, токсиков и прочих - иди на свой закрытый сервер с друзьями, как ты и сказал.
Люди играли ДЕСЯТЬ лет, а потом пришло обновление "Ласт Стэнд" и отобрало старое, не дав ничего нового (2 милишки и кампанию из 2-ух карт - балдёж).
В игре всё ещё много багов. Проблема игры (в Сражении) - не баги, а ПЛОХОЙ БАЛАНС, который люди пытаются исправить сами на выделенных серверах.

Не, я возможно и слишком серьёзно отношусь, так как изучаю ГеймДизайн и довольно много времени посвятил со многими людьми на разбор и аналитику данной игры, в частности на баланс, который реально сломан, с этим я согласен. Рукопашное оружие и дигл реально подлежит сильному изменению, это правда. В игре впринципе есть еще множество других проблем, это тоже правда.

Игра ведь задумывалась и работает как раз так как я и другие обычные игроки играют, а все остальные баго юзеры, читеры и спидранеры просто ломают весь КОРНЕВОЙ геймплей. Игра работает и создавалась так чтобы играть в неё честно, без использований багов и глитчей, так что по факту не мне нужно идти на свой закрытый сервер, а тем кто ломает игру, вместо того чтобы играть на паблике. Корневой геймплей состоит не из спидрана, не из использовании багов и так далее. Вместо того чтобы наслаждаться игрой, эти люди специально её ломают везде где это можно и потом удивляются, почему люди возмущены после того как человек либо группа людей сломала весь корневой геймплей где не было какой-нибудь договорённости что будем играть этот матч с использованием тех или иных багов, глитчей и спидранерских элементов.
Да, в игре все ещё много багов, согласен но баги не проблема. Как раз таки проблема в той части комьюнити которая врывается на сервер и начинает творить хаос и ломать игру. Я и многие другие не имеют ничего против спидранеров, багов и глитчей. Играйте на здоровье, я и сам иногда люблю заняться в игре чем-то подобным но будьте добры, идите на свой сервер чтобы не портить людям КОРНЕВОЙ ГЕЙМПЛЕЙ в игре которая не задумывалась так как играют спидранеры и баго юзеры либо когда на сервере попросили прекратить, тогда давайте будем прекращать играть таким способом либо просто давайте спрашивать игроков не против ли они играть ломая правила игры, используя баги, глитчи и спидранерство.
