    Stu - Been rewatching a lot of your old videos the last couple of days. After having repeated issues with my 1973 Johnson 50HP not idling, I decided that it was time to go big or go home before replacing it. Replaced the head gasket, did both carbs, and now I opened up the leaf box...and then I opened the exhaust cover and found the leak that was putting water in to the lower cylinder. Ordered all the gaskets (6 in total) for the front of the crankcase, and exhaust cover(s) from MarineEngine. Only broke one exhaust cover bolt so going to try my luck with the Helicoil. Beyond the gaskets, I'm also replacing the fuel pump and the coils. The internals of the motor look great and it seems a shame to junk it.
    So yeah, your videos cover a ton of this fun stuff and my willingness and confidence to even try this stuff is directly tied to watching your videos and your explanations of how to do these various things.

    • @peterjensen6844
      @peterjensen6844 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it's all back together. The broken bolt proved a problem but I think I got it sorted. Letting all the gasket sealant set up overnight before trying to start it. But hooked it all back up, didn't let the smoke out, choke works, and it cranks. Even got the overheat alarm back working again.
      I think it ultimately was a combination of a leaking exhaust cover and bad fuel pump letting gas in to the lower crankcase at low speeds.
      New coils and to spec spark plugs to boot.

    I love metal detecting but have not done it in years. I need to buy one. Maybe next year when I get my taxes back. When I was a kid we did that several times a week. We found all kinds of neat things. We even found my great aunts class ring she lost during a graduation party. She cried because it was lost for 46 years.

    Hi, stu the problem you had with you'r secendery tank was most likely the cap. If you put glue on top and just losen the cap when you use it, you will most likely not have the water problem.
    I had the same problem with my outbord Yamaha's tank and it was the cap, and i glued the cap and i have never had a problem since. (Excuse my writing, because i am from norway)

    • @DangarMarine
      @DangarMarine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, was definitely coming in though the cap.

    Go North as the Blue Nomads slowly cruise the Queensland coast heading to the "promised land" of warmer water and balmy days. Wow, great tour of the Boat works Stu, important question who is feeding the chooks? Calm seas, safe passages, eat more seafood, and remember to put a lure out (that's how you catch fish), and thanks for sharing looking forward to the 200K subscribers barrier been smashed.

    I noticed in the last video that red dwarf was dancing and bobbing around behind you. If you set her to ride on the second wave behind you, she will track true and you therefore would not chafe through your lines.

    You’ve got the barbecue. What’s next? A jacuzzi?
    Nice to get a tour. That was quite the facility.
    You need to do something with the suspension on the “Harley”
