  • This week Renko gets new split throttle / gear selector controls, new carpet and a comfy seat in the wheelhouse. As well as this I install a wire cover with inclinometer, holding bracket for the catch can and an MV Renko sign above the door. :)

    Idea. Make a cup holder setup to attach to the seat and swivel with the seat.

    Regarding the fire in Brooklyn... Boats with inboard gasoline/petrol engines generally come equipped with blowers for the engine compartment. On all of the boats I've been on, the switch for the blowers was right next to the ignition and had a big label telling you the minimum time that you should run the blowers prior to attempting an engine start. I was always taught to start the blower, then go put my nose next to the blower outlet. If I smelled gasoline for more than a second or two, then it was time to find and correct the fuel leak before repeating the process. When the blower runs for the specified time with NO fuel smell, then you can attempt to start the engine. Might have been a bit paranoid, but I've never blown the engine cover off of a boat. (Bonus hint...it's almost impossible to forget bilge drain plugs when they are in a plastic bag zip-tied to the latch for the trailer hitch...)

    • @DangarMarine
      @DangarMarine  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the blowers are critical with inboard petrol engines.

      @@DangarMarine i have a question... I just rebuilt a 1983 J75TLCNB. I have spark. I have gas in the throats of the carbs. All new wires. New power pack. New spark plugs. It cranks but doesn’t start. Randomly it will make a popping noise and a little smoke comes out of exhaust and I assume this is normal. Could my cause be timing? It bogged down under load and randomly died last year which is why I built it. I’m scared to continue to keep trying to crank it due to not breaking it in yet. I wish and hope you respond. I’m at wits end. Also after cranking I notice gas coming out of the throats. Is this normal?
