It's an amazing time to be in to flight Sim. Yes it states that it has more torque. I'm only just starting to put it the test and will have a review out sometime in the near future once the software gets fully updated.
The best modules for FFB in DCS are Heatblur modules, please try F-4 and F-14, they have fully implemented FFB with all the subtleties, works great on Brunner stick
@@g-locmedia Yeah, the F-16 is probably the worst choice to try out given it's specific control solution so I'm not sure if they bothered simulating FFB effects on it. Please try those HB modules and also some ED non-FBW jet to compare with (A-10, maybe some FC3 module like MiG-23 or Su-27, etc.). Another thing the FFB is kind of essential for is flying helicopters as the cyclic control stick should stay where you trim it at so I'd definitely recommend testing those both in MFS and DCS.
ED modules have good FFB too, it's just that F-16 and F-18 don't really have much FFB IRL either - those are fly by wire aircraft. Try the helicopters, WW2 fighters or the A-10C
@@g-locmedia Since ambidextrous GA grips do not exist, I went for the Constellation Alpha Prime left-handed. The MK2 base is center-mounted in a Monstertech MPS rig. The Alpha is all metal and rather generic.
As a Brunner CLSE MKII yoke and rudders user I’ve been waiting for this review. Thank you! Love your content. Remember that Brunner is used by Lufthansa in their GA simulators for training. Will see if Moza can top it. May the best win. When it comes to the software I totally agree with you. It’s not very user friendly. Been working with testing for the past 13 years and I still had a hard time getting around it but once you get it, it’s very powerful. Needs to be more easy to understand for entry level users. They should hire a team of experts to make a huge variety of profiles available by default.

Yea I'm some respects the Brunner will be the baseline for many of the new ffb products however it actually wasn't planned but the timing did work out well.

You need to try the F14 and F4 in DCS. Heatblur really appreciate ffb. And please call out DCS for the broken ffb elevator trim in the Mosquito. It's unplayable and has been since release. Eagle Dynamics don't seem to care.

@@g-locmedia The F4 is a different beast. It had a bob weight and bellows to dampen pilot inputs. Heatblur tried to replicate that with ffb. In 12 years of using ffb, I've never felt anything like it.
You nailed the Spitfire experience. I'm sure there are a lot of 109/190 pilots out there wondering why I don't stall when attacking/ defending in a turn fight. I liken the feeling of the control surfaces losing their grip on the air to bending a stick to a point just before it snaps.
Is it a DCS-own package and thus down to them, or is it a third party developer like Heatblur or Reflected Simulations? If the former, is it still 'early access' and something they will eventually update?
Adore my Rhino, totally transformed DCS for me. Cannot recommend force feedback enough, just having real working force trim for Helos is good enough, but then when you fly modules with fully developed FFB such as the F4 or 14, wow. Wasn’t aware they were going mainstream like this, BUT the cost is extremely worth it.

@@scotty6346 It's XPForce, not FS and on Win 11. I have managed to set up the aircraft files to apply some forces as they were not programmed in. Forces are still poor and seems to act as though gears are stripped. Still can do better, so will be watcing the new clutch of FFB sticks with wallet in hand 🤑
Hope the CLS-E MK2 is better than the CLS-E MK1 The CLS-E MK1 had overheat issues and is quite weak which makes it difficult to use with extensions and heavy sticks
I did ask Brunner about this and they said it can overheat if held in a bad position for a long period of time but I never had any overheating issues at all with it. It has been very good.
@@g-locmedia it would be worth waiting to have the review using a more complete version of the software. Because you’ve done so many FFB reviews, this channel is definitely the go to for comparison’s sake - and I suspect software will be a big part of which product flight simmers should be buying.
I am as well. Since I’ve got the Super Taurus and MIP panels I figured that would be the easiest route software wise. But keeping watch on what’s happening
DCS as a whole has the best FFB effects available, if you have a VP Rhino the software gets all the FFB effects you would expect ground rumble, gun vibration, pre stall buffet engine vibration and all the varialble force and effects it seems that your missing with Brunner. Brunner needs to get the software to be compatible with DCS to be able to pick up on the telemetry from DCS. But as said the F-16 is not the best jet to try for any FFB as it is a force sensing system in it. You are correct that modules make a difference in how well that is modelled by the individual developer HeatBlur being the best in DCS by far
I discovered your channel recently and have been watching many videos because of the quality of both the information and the production. I have a Warthog HOTAS, Honeycomb Alpha abd Bravo combo, and Thrustmaster Rudders and I am very satisfied with it. In fact, if anything, I dont use them as often as I would like to, both for lack of time and a bigger interest in sim racing. I dont think upgrading to FFB is in my to-do list any time soon, but it is always good to have the information. I am happy to see so many FFB options compatible with Thrustmaster handles. It makes it an easy drop-in upgrade in case I go that route. If I do and my wife is not happy about it, I will tell her it was you and your channel's fault, lol 😅. Btw, I really like your accent! The way you pronounce the "i" as an "a" like "sam" for "sim", "stack" for "stick"and "thang" for "thing" is a bit funny but also very cool 😉
I just wish Asobo will incluide real triming inFS2024. At the moment the trim only works directly on the elevator position, but not through the actual trim system (i.e. THS, or trim tab)
Really happy with my Brunner, just buy a remote control power socket to solve the power switch problem. I mounted it to my DOF reality p3 with double sided Gorilla tape, sounds crap works really well for me. Yes you need deep pockets.
Just debating whether to get the rudder pedals, I have the virpil pedals with the dampener which are great ,but obviously no ffb , trouble is once you have experienced ffb certainly for using msfs 2020 I wouldn't want to go back, good as the Honeycomb alpha is . I've been spoiled. 😂😂😂
As far as I'm aware the FFB stick can produce a very good fly by wire feel however you're turning off some cool effects to achieve it. I feel like you get the most out of it with smaller GA or older planes
the Euro canard fighters (Gripen, Eurofighter) have a moving variable force feedback FBW joystick. The Eastern jets (MiG, Sukhoi) have besides the variable force imitation also have a stick shaker for high AOA...I do not know what the Rafale, M346 has...but they are also FBW...I have flown the Gripen and the MiG-29...the others in sim. or talked to pilots..
Software is so important for these Force feedback base. I have a VPforce setup and their software is now very mature with the amount of configuration amazing even in DCS.
@@g-locmedia I don't have the commercial Rhino base, but its listed to be around 9Nm. I built a stick, yoke and pedals out of VPforce big servo kits, which have around three times the torque of the servos in the commercial base. Used all metal/carbon fibre construction, very happy with them.
:-)) for the Cirus it is actually unrealistic. Cirrus uses spring cartridges in the side stick thus it is always centered. Due to the method used to move control surfaces by AP. Normal planes use counter tabs to manipulate trim or AP. Cirrus opted to use aerodynamically clean airframe. However downside is you really dont have that much hand feedback flying it. Plus the springs are quite strong thus it takes some getting used to compared to any other plane. Especially for making small corrections. They pretty much made plane to feel like sim. 🙂I guess the intended it to be mostly AP flown for traveling not sightseeing and hand flying. Or perhaps as a airliner transition. If you like to hand fly you might get somewhat disappointed by it. :-/
Hey Gloc, i wanna know how you install the g1000 pfd and mfd and have 3 tv at the same time. Im having some problems to get all the displays work (the 3tvs and the pfd and mfd g1000)
Hello Mate. PFD and MFD are connected through the onboard graphics on the motherboard. Other screens are through the graphics card. You might have to go in to your BIOS and enable onboard graphics.
For me, if it doesn't have enough force to handle a full size cyclic, then it's an automatic no go. The force feedback would only be useful for helos, WW1 - 80s era fighter planes and jets that had mechanical linkage. The F-18 and F-16 or anything newer (basically, FBW) wouldn't benefit from FFB. For the F-16 I'd go with the FSSB-R3 Lighting MKII Ultra. It has the exact same movement and resistance as the real F-16.
Highly disagree; love my Brunner and my hornet and viper profiles. If i ONLY flew the Viper I'd agree with the FSSB-R3; but why would i ever buy a stick meant for one aircraft?! The "FFB cant replicate a FBW aircraft" bit is quickly being debunked thankfully now that many are adopting FFB sticks.

@@sundog8775 The stick in a F-16, F-22 and F-35 barely move. Quarter of an inch deflection at most and uses pressure to measure amount of input. The FFB for the F16 in this video moves like a normal stick. Not at all realistic. In a real FBW jet you don't feel anything in the stick. People would get a better experience from a motion rig and/or ButtKicker Haptics. The good part is that outside of the F-15, F-16 and F-18 in DCS, all the other craft would benefit from FFB. I'm talking about the user going for an authentic experience. Now if people want to cheat and get FFB that wouldn't be there in the real thing, then yes, they would benefit from it. But, who spends the amount on money on a study sim with expensive gear to get a fake experience? The point of a sim over a flight game like, Ace Combat or War Thunder is to get an authentic experience.
f-16 has afc ffb modeling as many of modern fighters if not all, and i guess for f-16 must have some separated profile, with heavy low way moving stick... if cls has modeling that it's just perfect... they all must use force sensors instead of hall... with dynamic force sensor they can do absolutely any profile for all existing birds with or without ffb, with long way moving and with short. hall can be useful too actually, just need to be with high resolution sensors for modeling all way 1sm moving for f-16 f-35 and long way for other birds. i just think force sensors more easy for assembling this universal toy...
Yes I think the later versions of the F16 moved to that setup. I've heard from a few people that at the beginning the pilots really didn't like it and it took a bit of getting used to.
Moza's 12nm is a bit disingenuous when you get down to it. Force is generally reported per axis, but they seem to have published specs on a diagonal (so combination of axes) from what I've heard from reviewers (so about 9nm peak per axis, which is similar to a VPForce Rhino).
Moza racing came out with theirs for $550 instead of $1400, good luck there Brunner

Dang wish you tried IL2 in directX mode they really do FFB well.
I'm happy with my mint MS Sidewinder 2 FFB, A shame that Microsoft do not do Joysticks and wheels anymore as they are top quality at a sensible price.

The good part is that outside of the F-15, F-16 and F-18 in DCS, all the other craft would benefit from FFB. I'm talking about the user going for an authentic experience. Now if people want to cheat and get FFB that wouldn't be there in the real thing, then yes, they would benefit from it. But, who spends the amount on money on a study sim with expensive gear to get a fake experience? The point of a sim over a flight game like, Ace Combat or War Thunder is to get an authentic experience.
f-16 has afc ffb modeling as many of modern fighters if not all, and i guess for f-16 must have some separated profile, with heavy low way moving stick... if cls has modeling that it's just perfect... they all must use force sensors instead of hall... with dynamic force sensor they can do absolutely any profile for all existing birds with or without ffb, with long way moving and with short. hall can be useful too actually, just need to be with high resolution sensors for modeling all way 1sm moving for f-16 f-35 and long way for other birds. i just think force sensors more easy for assembling this universal toy...
Fun fact the IRL F-16 stick doesn't move in the cockpit. it's all pressure sense
Yes I think the later versions of the F16 moved to that setup. I've heard from a few people that at the beginning the pilots really didn't like it and it took a bit of getting used to.
Actually it moves, there's a 1/4 of an inch displacement in each direction.

Moza got 12 nm for a few hundered euros less.
Moza's 12nm is a bit disingenuous when you get down to it. Force is generally reported per axis, but they seem to have published specs on a diagonal (so combination of axes) from what I've heard from reviewers (so about 9nm peak per axis, which is similar to a VPForce Rhino).
