Nice video for those that want to install this mod..but I have to say that the wires showing dont look good at all... makes you realize how much effort Honda put into the bike to make it look so refined
Harry,You talk about and show the silver sharpie line on the bar,but at no time do you show it being drawn on the bar or what the detentions are. You must have accidentally edited it out....
Would be good to see a side to side comparison of 2018 / 2020 Wing with the new Helibar compared to Wing with std Honda bars. just to give some perspective.
Well just a couple issues encountered in my installation. These are advertised as complete kit, but does not allow for let’s say upgrading from risers to full horizon handlebars. The dealer installed heli-risers, and didn’t provide me any take-offs, such as the four main bolts and washers. So I previewed the instructions and got 4 new 10 mm bolts ahead of installation. Not washers, so I am out to hardware store for washers. And the center control panel to be removed is kinda glanced over? Had to go to video by others…. Anyway although I am midway in installing this product seems very good quality and engineered so well, I love it already! Getting the bolts out required a 1/2” pneumatic powered impact gun??? But I’m going precision when torquing to your specs?? I will prevail.
I have done quite a few mods on my 2018, including the tour pack removal to bagger look, but for some reason this looks overly complicated. maybe it's just me, but I won't be able to tackle this one.
Late to the party but I really appreciate this vid! Just went and checked out a new ‘23 GW. My heart sunk as soon as I got on it. Stock bars are sooo low and forward. Was an instant turn off. Can’t imagine what size rider the stock seating/bar position works for. 6’1”, 34” inseam.
This video is missing the most important part. How do you adjust them? It looks like that console will have to be removed every time. And, will this work with a manual trans? Does the clutch lever, and the hose to it, impact the installation?
Thank you for your feedback! All good questions. You can contact our customer service and they'll be happy to answer your questions or you can contact Helibars directly. Ride safe!
Hello. On the left hand side handle bar control there is a toggle switch hanging down, what is this for and where did you get it. Is it a momentary type switch. Please hope you can answer
Hello Paul. Thanks for reaching out to us with your question. I believe you're referring to the CB control switch. I have a CB radio installed. You can purchase a CB radio kit and a CB antenna with us here: wingstuff.com/shop/cb_radios
Haha wanted it to look good for the video :) Glad you liked it! I highly recommend you get yourself a set. Helibars doesn't generally put their products on sale, but if you order with us you'll get 3-5% back (depending on tier) in WingReward points which you can use as discounts on future purchases. Hope this helps and ride safe!
That’s way more complicated than it needs to be. Just add a riser that raises the bars a bit and pulls them rearward. Then you don’t have to do 80% of what you did here.
HeliBars does make risers for the Gold Wing but there's less adjustability. We have customers who first bought the risers and then the Horizon Bars and said there was a dramatic difference in comfort and reduced fatigue. Thanks for your comment!
@@bdan3459 We're sorry to hear that. The risers are good for reducing reach but the Helibar handlebars have so much adjustability you should be able to find your sweet spot.
would be nice to see this done on 2001 -2017 GL1800s since many people still have those. i have a 2001 with heated grips, and i hear the heated grips may be destroyed trying to do this upgrade, so i haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. but i did notice left elbow pain after a 1200 mile trip last year, so wondering if this would be the solution, but not wanting to tackle this beast of a job. there is only one competent goldwing mechanic shop here in las vegas nevada, but even so, i had to redo, myself, some wiring stuff they got paid to do in the past on my bike due to being sloppy. so, not wanting to deal with them anymore.
Thanks for the suggestion. We'll talk with Harry and see what we can do! In the meantime, our customer service guys will be more than happy to help clarify your question about your heated grips: 949-454-2199, customerservice@wingstuff.com or use the chat feature on WingStuff.com. They're available to assist you M-F from 8am - 4pm.
Hey Rick .... Are you going to do a video of you out on a ride with the NEW Bars installed,,, Telling us more on how they feel "on the bike" and how it handles, ... Comfort, etc ..... ??? "Thanks" Rick S. (Massachusetts)
is this a secret? I have yet to see these in the wild. well except the ones I installed . why. Everyone complains about the seat, not the bar position???
I don't think so, Jeff. If you live on the east coast you could always contact Helibars owner, Harry, and see if the can install them. Their headquarters is in Maine. Thanks for your question.
To me thats a lot of effort for very little if any gain, looks no real different to me, plus cables on show looks amateur. Any bar change on a Harley you can see a difference and look more refined

Brilliant to show the whole installation end to end! Nice!

would love to see a review of the bars ... and some good pictures/video of how they look and how they preposition you. Thanks! Gary
Thank you for the feedback Gary! We're planning to review these soon, hopefully sometime after the holidays.

I have been looking for this for a long time. Kind of hard to sell it without a comparison shot

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, these Helibars make a world of difference, especially on the newer Gold Wings.

This video was very helpful, thanks.

Some cover plates need to be developed because all those exposed wire harnesses don't match the bike's refined appearance.
Thanks for your feedback!
I agree 100%; I'm sure the functionality is good but the wires look like c**p

Nice video. Do they have a video to put on a set for the 2006 gl1800
Thanks, Troy! We really appreciate the comment. As far as we know, they haven't done an installation video for the 2001-2017 GL1800.
I would drop 8 out of 10 screws/bolts never to be seen again.

Does this technique work on the Airbag model?
Hi James, yes according to Harry at Helibars it does. Thanks for reaching out to us with your question.
