Hi Fred, I know this is an older post, but just as pertinent for my 2022 DCT Tour. Took me a little longer than you, but that's probably because I putz around cleaning a lot of things you don't usually see whenever everything's together. And you can add another 10 minutes or so just just for the cursing I did when it came to squeezing that rubber grommet though the hole. Nonetheless, great video. It saved me a lot of time and money... that's more than worth a few minutes of cursing out the grommet.
Fred's instructions were so good. I watched the video a couple of times while I was waiting for my Homelink kit to arrive. I thought the front would have been the hard part but I completed it in 20 minutes. I mounted the Homelink in the saddle bag and then tried to pull the cable. I could not get the cable into the saddle bag so I taped a thin ribbon on the back side of the plug and fed the ribbon into the saddle bag. When I pulled on the ribbon the plug turned in through the hole in the bag. Once I had the rubber plug to the hole I took a long screw driver and massaged it from the back side and it popped in. Even with the trouble I had getting the wire in the bag it only took 90 minutes to complete and program. This is on a 2024 DCT Touring that I got last weekend Thank you Fred
Fred, you are incredibly talented. I just installed the homelink on my 2024 GW DCT. It took me about 2 hours. And best of all it works. Saved myself over 900.00 that the dealer wanted.
This video was super helpful. I was able to complete the installation in a little over an hour without unscrewing the antenna on my 2022 DCT bagger. The hardest part was fishing the wiring harness through the hole. A tip: pre-bend the plug on the harness 90 degrees and shine a light through the hole in the saddle bag. Then feed the harness down to the hole. It will feed straight into the hole.
Just installed my homelink garage door opener on my 2018 GW. I really appreciate your video because you were so right. They were wanting me to disassemble the whole motorcycle to do this job. So very grateful. Thanks again for this awesome video.
Your TH-cam and instructions were VERY helpful. The extra detail regarding how things come apart and go back together were spot on. I never could have taken this project on without your instructions. Many thanks!!!!
Wow, great video! How many dealers use that same method, but still charge the labor suggested in the Honda authorized installation. Thanks for this video.
These instructions are a gold mine! Simple, to the point, and delivers what he promises. Fred saved me several hours not to mention countless risks associated with taking so many other components off the bike. Awesome!
Thanks for the great video Fred. It took about an hour total to install on our 2018 Honda Goldwing DCT Tour CSC Encore Trike. If installing on a trike, you mount the module under the seat where you have some room. Use double sided tape to hold the module in place.
Again. You make the best instructional videos I've seen for the 2018+ goldwing. I own a 2022 tour model, and other than replacing the windshield with a Puig, I'm just now considering upgrades. I'm sure these videos will save me a great deal of time. Cheers 🇨🇦
@Bags2723 I had installed a Puig windshield as well and came back recently from a trip to (almost) the east coast & back to the midwest. I like the extra width and all, but I wish it wasn't quite so tall, the lowest position can't be use as it distorts the view at my sitting height as you're looking thru the very top of it back and forth over and thru the shield. I may just look into a stock height but wider width shield if it gets too annoying, haha!
Fantastic!!! Was not sure if I wanted to take on this job but the vid here shows how easy it is to do and I definitely want home link. Thanks so much for the video!
This was the best instructional video I have ever seen. First, Fred provided a faster and efficient way to install the homelink to the GW. Second, he was very detailed with the process making it easy to follow. I saved 6+ hours in doing this. Thank you so much Fred. You rock!!!

Thanks for the great video. NOTE on my 2021, the harness was in a slightly different location. If you can't find it it's about 6 inches closer to the front of the bike just under 2 plugs that have the quick releases. Again thank you!
Thank you Fred for producing such a clear, professional video and best of all, a short cut to not take apart half the bike to make a simple modification to the control panel. Very good work Fred. I removed all my panels as the instructions dictated. This also accommodated the install of the XM radio antenna and some new lights in the front. I really like the Homelink function, a must have for me.
An excellent instructive video. However, the cost of the homelink kit, plus the fiddly installation made me ask myself the question as to why is this a better option than having my small garage remote in my jacket pocket and simply pushing the remote button through the material of the pocket as I approach my garage? I couldn't think of any reasonable answer to this question so I shall just keep my small button remote in my pocket and activate the garage door that way and save the money and hassle of a Honda homelink kit to cover the annual cost of gasoline. 😊

Hi Fred from South Africa. I purchased the homelink from Wingstuff, did the entire installation and when I came to the end, connecting the grey plug, I am stuck. I cannot locate it. I have looked all over that area, even removed the left saddlebag, and still can't find that grey plug to connect to. Is there a way to find out, if South African bikes, comes with the plug? Maybe some code using vin numbers to see if there is a change in the build? Any advise will be highly appreciated sir.
I'm afraid I don't know the answer about this, I'm not familiar with all the different export models Honda made. I can tell you that some of those connectors are buried down deep inside of large black rubber boots, so make sure you aren't overlooking it. It may be hiding down deep in the bottom of a large black weather boot.
I'll just use a remote. For the price we paid, it should have been a standard just like the fog lights, which they made standard in 2020. It's not like Honda would have lost any money.
For the price of the bike, that should be in !!!!!To do this whole job just to open the garage door, really !!! For fog lights, I say sure.
