Absolutely awesome finds!! Im from eastern washington scablands, so i have to travel to find beauties like these! I think a trip to central oregon is going to be my next big adventure!!!
It's not always about what you find, rather just enjoying the opportunity to get out and connect with the natural world, breathe in some fresh air, and enjoy the open space. Keep rocking, enjoy your videos and thanks for sharing.
Definitely. After a snow storm one week and an ice storm the next, I just needed to get outside and walk in the mud. Rocks were just a bonus. I was just making a quick pit stop to stretch my legs and ended up finding enough to keep me looking.
I absolutely love your channel! LOVE your finds! I get so excited every time you reveal your rocks after you cut them. ❤❤❤❤❤(from one rock hound to another)
Hey Jay, new to your channel! Love watching you collect agates and Jasper. I collect agates in BC and am heading down to Central/Eastern OR this spring to hopefully find some goodies. Thanks for the awesome vids!
Thanks! Welcome to the channel. I watch a few of the BC rock channels. Seems like a lot of beautiful stuff to find there! When you're planning your trip to Oregon let me know and I can point you to some good areas. Thanks for watching!
If you were on the Crooked R side of that drainage, its plausible it was quartz leftover from the Rhyolite of the Crooked River Caldera. No glaciers in the area. The closest alpine glacier during the ice age didn't make it past Black Butte.
The quartzite cobbles in this general area are theorized to have originated in Idaho. Maybe events similar to the great floods but way back in the Oligocene.
Thank you! I don't sell much anymore. More of a collector nowadays. What part of the Cascades did you dig quartz? I used to collect outside of Blue River, Oregon up in the hills around 23-24 years ago. I have a pretty awesome collection from that area.
Hi Jay, Did you get that big pw by the tree or did someone else; we were heading out east towards Hampton area and noticed it was missing? Take care, Tom & Tye
Hi Tom and Tye! Somebody else got it within a week or two of me posting that video. I was amazed by how fast it disappeared. I've been looking at it in the roadcut for years everytime I drove by. Post a video, gone. Lol.
I will watch this in it's entirety later, as I'm learning how to use my new USB Digital Microscope. However I quickly want to say that 2 of my MOST FAVORITE LSA's came from a logging road. If a road up in the Arrowhead region of Minnesota has gravel, I'm going to look for agates.

Nice finds man! I have really been enjoying your rockhounding and cutting videos, and look forward to more. Keep on keeping on! 🤠
Thanks! I appreciate that.
That first jasper you found- inwould have immediately began knapping that into arrowheads. Beautiful rocks man
Is it easier to knap a rough rock or a thick slab? Which do you prefer?
Those are some amazing finds! Thanks for sharing.
Yeah I was surprised how much cool stuff was right by the road. Thanks for watching!
Gorgeous stuff thank you for taking me with😊
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!

Nice! I wasn't sure if a rough rock or slabs would be better. Glad to find out you cut cabs so the slabs were a good choice.
Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the info! I'l have to read up on the geology of the area.

A lot of good spots get ignored by people! I'd love to see some LSAs you've found. Any videos of them?
