A Quick Summary of the Channel:
First off, if you made it this far into the description, awesome; fist bump for that one, appreciate it. I’ll start with what a WaterHopper is in my mind and you may actually find that you are one as well. A WaterHopper is anyone who always has fishing on their mind and/or is always ready to go at the drop of a hat. Whether that be they have the gear with them in the trunk, (for me it's the gear and the kayak); or they just are always willing to join in the fun. Did you have any issues with heat? I’m worried my rods would get cooked in there, wouldn’t want the grips to melt off
No issues with heat. But. The rods sliding around was an issue. Scratching the bait casters. So now i have a t shirt stuffed in the far end. And I put a rag in the front when I put the rods in. So they can't slide back and fourth. Been great since then.

Super practical! Got me to order a kit. Question: Did you sand the tube prior to your plasticoat application? I’ve seen others sand before applying aerosol paint….

I did a rough sand nothing major. Wiped it good. Let it dry. And sprayed.
Awesome video. I made a tube a while back but I recently just got a tundra with the same ARE topper. I was thinking of getting a prinsu topper rack and it seems to sit a little shorter than what I think you have are the Yakama skyline rails and tower. Do you think or have you seen a tube on a prinsu? I'm just afraid the U connectors for the tube will be way too long.
Never seen a tube on a prinsu. I'm sure it could be done but you are right. The u bolts will probably be too long. May need to modify the way you mount it. Endless options on a prinsu rack tho. I'm sure you could make it work.
How’s the wind noise

Do you find that you get a lot of wind noise with the tube? Going on a trip and have already ordered the carrier. Don’t want to break my 200.00 rod again like last time.
No noise I have noticed at all
what did you put inside the tube to keep rods from "flopping around"?
There is a 3" foam pad on the far end. As well as an old sweater just stuffed as far as I could get it. So mainly just cushioned the ends. They technically can roll. But. When I have baitcasters on its a tight fit. So they don't move much.

Do you have to remove the reels before sliding in all those rods? How many combos can you fit in the 1 tube?
Bait caster reels can stay on. 2 one way. Two the other with reels. Then two additional rods without reels stuffed on edges.
With the tube that far off the front crossbar does it flex when your driving? is it schedule 40?
It is schedule 40. No flex whatsoever!

No I cannot. Self car washes now unfortunately. Will scrape the paint off
“Locking” rod tube with 4 simple nuts holding it to the rack.
Accurate. Discourage. But at the end of the day. It's also PVC. Anyone who knows how can get in. One of those honest people honest items.
You can always add some type of locking mechanism like the ones used for spare trailer tires to keep people from backing up the nuts and taking the tube.
Anyone can open that with a screwdriver.
