This is Random Forest Service Guy.
I think I would have watched my language better, if I'd known quite how much you were picking up with that little camera! Never realized how doofy I sound! 🙂
Anywise, Diego, I want to thank you kindly for all the hard work you put in clearing the road.
You definitely make the world a better, and safer place.
And, everybody, please don't cause me trouble over anything ya see here ya might feel inappropriate.
I work hard as I can figure how, and mean all good, trying to do good things for all forest critters and people.
Safely.
name is Murray, a.k.a. ( jokingly) king of the forest. 🌲🌲🌝🌲🌲🌲
( youtube nym "Yadaguh" where a few forest videos be.)
@@yadaguh you seemed fine to me rando. I think more people should be like you.
Murry, Thank you for your service, kindness, and humility!
@yadaguh u should rly post more on youtube, last video is 1year ago :) Also make it for not for kids gets more views.
Ur a high lvl decent guy, thx for being simply za best.
@yadaguh I wish I ran into Forest Service like you over here on the East Coast, we have all hardwoods over here! What saw and bar are you running? That bar looks stout.
Murray, never apologize for being a good person. If you represent the Forrest Service, then we are in good hands.
As a U. S. forest service employee of 40 years, now retired for 12 years: the forest employee in engineering in this video should be commended for being such a good embassador to the public. I am glad Diego was stocking up on firewood as the Forest Service is getting parts of their roads cleaned for free and he is getting free firewood for the taking. This is the way the USFS has dealt with the public since it's conception.
Overall yes, my interactions have been great. I’ve only had one lady at the Forrest service office that was rude and condescending towards me. All i wanted were a few maps and she tried to belittle me for wanting to hunt quail. It was a crappy experience. Oh well, I appreciate what you all do out there.
As a retired Federal LE and wildlands firefighter, get the name of that person and file a written complaint.
There is to be ZERO confrontation of ANY Federal employee with ANY member of the public and she needs to be put in her place.
File that complaint and it'll send that district a distinct message- Don't be screwing with the public.
@@Spooky505 I am confused. What female employee are you referring to here?
@@philkrueger5961 See valleyquails remark and interaction.
That woman, needs a write up.
Even retired I still have a huge influence.
@@valleyquail1790 § 735.103 What other regulations pertain to employee conduct?
In addition to the standards of conduct in subpart B of this part, an employee shall comply with the standards of ethical conduct in 5 CFR part 2635, as well as any supplemental regulation issued by the employee's agency under 5 CFR 2635.105. An employee's violation of those regulations may cause the employee's agency to take disciplinary action, or corrective action as that term is used in 5 CFR part 2635. Such disciplinary action or corrective action may be in addition to any penalty prescribed by law.
Contact that FS District supervisor and inform that person you are filing a complaint.
She will be removed.
Retired 3 years now and on 2 occasions I';ve had CBP agents reassigned, and 4 FS people pulled from duty with one being terminated.
these people are wearing a shoulder emblem that is all about PUBLIC SERVICE.
If you don't take the time to insure its enforced she will do it again.
Do not allow this to happen to anyone else.
*Random forest service guy* still going strong and he takes his safety serious!
Those chaps will stop a saw dead, damn good idea!
... yeah with no gloves lol ...
Absolutely! That random forest service guy knows how to get the job done while staying safe! Big respect for his dedication and safety-first approach!
@@roger3786 Most tree workers (arborists) don't wear gloves --- they can get sucked into your mechanical devices while climbing, and catch on limbs going in a chipper. I just wear gloves (leather) if I have to deal with blackberries or hawthorn. Skin will toughen up just fine without gloves. But you have to slather on hand-cream or the wife won't let you touch her!!🙃
Random Forrest Service Guy is the best advertisement for the Forest Service they could get!
He should start a youtube channel. 😂😂😂
Park Service guy was pretty handy with that saw. Doesn't make sense to throw the wood away when someone could use it. Finally a government guy with some common sense.
What a cool guy. Thank you for caring about the roads! And helping the community
I have the highest respect for this guy. Not only does he provide a service to assist the overworked and underpaid workers whose livelihood is dependent upon doing this as a means of employment, he takes the time to clean up after gathering his "free firewood". On top of it all, he even remembers to put on his hearing protection! How can you not love this guy? And yes, I am a full fledged Cougar, (the two-legged type)!🤣😂🤣
Excellent work, beneficial to everyone!
Grrrrrrrr we loves cougars 😎
@@wasntme3651 🤣😂🤣
😂😅😊
My neighbor was clearing a tree from the side of the road and a forest service guy came by and cited him for not having a permit. Hundreds of dollars for a fine. This USFS guy is an example of someone who understands public service is more than screwing with people.
Enjoyed meeting “random forest service guy”. Bet he has some great stories. Hope to meet him again.
See, lots of people take blowdowns from the side of the road, but YOU take it to the next level and _clean up your mess._ Very few people go that extra mile, that extra bit of courteous effort that makes such an incredible difference.
That forest service guy is awesome. I'm glad he's out there.
My good old America.. People helping each other.. Greetings from Colorado USA.. 😎🇺🇲
The "Old School" generation, knew this way of life..... And Diego, is "carrying it-Forward" .......
*It's great to see you making the most of nature's resources, while also keeping the roads clear. Awesome work*
It's nice to see people who know how to use a saw. I think as long as you clean up the branches and small stuff and you keep the road safe, you should be allowed to take the wood
My next door neighbor Sam just passed away at 91 this past spring, I had a wonderful relationship with him, he was old school and had many different sayings, the one that applies here would be "you could judge a mans wealth by his firewood pile" Nice work Diego!! One thing you many want to try and it isnt that expensive is the fiskers x27 splitting axe, its one of my favorite axes for hand splitting, very light, strong (cant break the thing) and saves a lot of energy vs using the heavy maul all the time.
Ive split many cords of wood with a 6lb Maul and wedges
My family won't let me use an axe 🪓. I have the power but not the aim.
That Fiskars is frickin awesome. Changed my world splitting firewood.
Yea that fiskars axe makes you look like a beast it splits so good
@@donnadoriand7324 I've helped many a kid learn how to split wood. If waving a feather is a 1 and swinging a bat at the fences is a 10, give it about a 4 til you can hit it where you want it. You'll be giving it hell by the time you get a few cords split.
The forrest service guy was great. Nice he helped but i guess it was you helping him do his job. Great video, you working so hard for the good of all the clear the road as i am sitting here watching you and eating my breakfast.
That forest service guy has a killer chainsaw. You’re actually one of the better ones I’ve watched woods, but, I still think a log splitter will do you good
Log splitter would make life much easier, especially if you buck it down and split it before loading into the truck! They are on wheels for a reason. 😜
I think I’ve figured out why the longer blade - less bending over. When you get older that bending over wears you out.
Thats right you can never have enough processed firewood.
The sound of chainsaws, beautiful scenery & an awesome forest service gentleman, my Sunday morning zen.. Thank you Diego.. You're one of my top 5..
Cottonwood isn't a hot burning wood, but it still puts out heat. Let it dry thoroughly and it'll burn just fine. Good for those "transitional" nights where you need some heat, but not a lot.
Random Forest Service guy was a good guy. Not wrapped up tight in his own ego and trying to lord it over the common folks. He recognized that Diego was doing a good service and getting the wood was his reward for the effort. A win-win scenario in my book.
Time to quadruple the size of the wood shed!!!
Good show, 40 years ago me & my 2 sons would be doing the same thing up above Black Diamond, Wa, always waiting for a big blow down to load up on firewood, you just can’t beat free wood 🙂
I love that you utilize the free wood to keep you warm and the mear fact that you cleaned up after. Amen 🙏
Co-Staring King of the Forest (AKA Murray)! Great work buddy, glad you stopped by visit and help Diego.
Nice work Diego/Random Forest Service Guy, it is allot of work and its rewarding in the best personal way, I help a nephew of mine12 yrs ago who bought 20 acres of land to build a home on and it was pure forest no road in, we parked on the side of the gravel road and walked over the ditch on a few 2 by 12's we brought along, there was a far amount of water in the ditch still, he bought 2 new Stihl chainsaws with 20" bars and 4 chains we cut and limbed almost 100 trees that day and almost as many the next day, it was the fall of the year so it never was to warm, it sure was a good feeling to get that done, we did almost the same the next weekend, it was a mixture of poplar and oak and i got 2 small loads of each which was enough firewood for my fire pit for 2 summers, it felt good and was nice to sit around the fire remembering the fun we had clearing those trees, they were not as big as the ones you were clearing /cutting up, when the bulldozer showed up to cut in his road to where the house was going to be , boy did it make short work of the tree stumps we left behind, great video 👍
It's great to see the wood going to "good use"...instead of seeing it rooting over time. Great job and blue skys. We need more Americans like you.
Diegotrieshard and wildhomested are just my favourite content creators. Thanks Diego
I’m a 74, Montana women. We had a bad storm and lost hundreds of trees. I just did the same thing today. Love my wood!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Iv e helped get wood out of burned our forest. All pinion pine and left the debris in neat piles
I love the legacy connection using your grandpa’s chainsaw, priceless. Don’t ever, ever get rid of your grandpa’s chainsaw. You may one day retire it, but that is a family jewel to keep and tell stories about to the younger generations.
Your the man Diego clearing the roads and free firewood to boot ❤
That was a great workout. Thank you for clearing the road. It's great that you got a lot of firewood out of it. That area is beautiful where you are working along the road😊
A little tip Diego: on the bigger pieces of wood, don't try and split it from the center. Start on the outside about 5" inches in from the outside. Keep splitting this way around the outside until you have a piece about 12" in diameter left, then you can split that from the center.
I watched an older gentleman do it that way. He had his trailer (an old pickup truck bed) filled and gone in no time.
Battery chainsaws are nice, biggest thing for me is quiet , i use vegetable oil in my battery saws, figure its a little cleaner for my saw and the environment. Forest service should give you and honorary bage for always helping, good job on the cleanup. If everyone would care it would be a better world.
Ive always wanted to have a cabin sitting by the fire stoking wood 🪵.... love your channel.... Sending ❤❤❤❤ from New Zealand 🇳🇿
The township we lived in would cut any downed trees into fireplace size logs and pile them alongside the road. They made it easy peasy.
Good man , and as he was appreciative of your work and confirmed that when they clear the road they throw the cut wood into the ditch then there is no reason why you shouldn't take the cut wood home , good video Diego
On the Marty T channel he actually uses a respirator mask to eliminate both the oil/gas fumes and the fine sawdust....
clean air into the lungs.....
He uses an electric Stihl for limbing.
If you use full synthetic mix oil that reduces the smoke by a huge amount.
025 Stihl that I've had for 28 years loves it!
If you had a trailer you could carry a small single cylinder diesel powered splitter on it...doubles your wood carrying capacity and saves your back.
Marty T also made a log lifter using the ram on the splitter to lift rounds up onto a tray he attached to the splitter...
that tray takes care of storing split off chunks while you are dealing to the hunk actively being split.
Thanks for an enjoyable vid that just records life "as it happens".
Murray is a good man with a great work ethic...and treats members of the public as they should be treated.
Subbed.
Proper definition of a true man!!!!!
YUP ..... NO "girlie men" were used in the making of this video !!!!!! 🤣😂😂😉👍👍
That's brilliant! Now you have started next year's wood drying out nice and early--perfect! Love your channel Diego, keep it up! 🏴
Times like this is to have a stash of pallets ready to put into service! Nice to get free wood like this although its hard work!
Just keep a bunch of 2 or 3 inch branches 4 to 8 ft..rake ground clean lay branches out in cord stack size, through a piece of plastic or tyvek down and stack away..when done rotate storage spots and use for compost beds to get fishing worms and sell em a few bucks a container.
Diego I could of watched more but I know it's a tiring job cutting and hauling firewood, especially when it is wet, it was a passion of mine when I was younger, loved every moment, you can never have too much firewood❤
Youll have to get yourself a 9 ton electric log splitter, and a battery vacuum blower to clean up the road. A nice chap 'the random forest guy' is, regards from N.Z
Great job, boys. Keeping the roads safe and clean. Great job, Diego. A lot of hard work. Keep up the amazing work. Have the greatest day, love and peace.
I wish I could get wood like you not so much in England I in joy watch you videos thank again
Hey Diego get yourself a leaf blower for cleaning up the road after harvesting wood. I like my GT Worx with a battery. Should be able to charge on your solar setup. I also have the trimmer and some of the tools. I did that intentionally to get additional batteries that operate several different tools. I also get free for life spools for the edger. Most are under $100 so are a great value. I use mine for all kinds of jobs... sweeping out the garage for instance.
Busy road stay safe, nice to see the man given you a hand.👍
Big fan Diego, I have binged on your shaking videos and am sorry to be late with comments. In BC the old time loggers would retire from the bush and split shakes for a pension. There was no social safety net so they would buy a couple of pallets of blocks from the mills and sell them back as shakes and double their money, tough old birds. I saw the old railway station building in Revelstoke BC roofed with 11/2" fir shakes, I think so they could weather a bit every year and still last a long time. cheers
I was a carpenter all my life ,good to see a guy work until he is exhausted .Than I woke up and did it again for 30 years.
Looks like it might soon be time to build a second wood shed!
And decent little trailer..maybe a 4x8 or 5x9
Great stuff! About time you got yourself a good trailer!
I second on the trailer. Also get you like a 10 or 12 ton winch so you can pull the logs up on the road and then pull them onto the trailer. And a couple of blocking tackles to help change the angle.
Love the gas saw 🤍 your videos are great Diego .. I love watching you tidy up the roads it’s relaxing 😎
enhancing your TH-cam algorithm, I have subscribed, liked. and I am actively watching and commenting from Quakertown, Pennsylvania, USA.
We need a Diego Spotify playlist
Never seen anyone rake off the road. Good job, you are one in a million, believe me.
Its so great to see a truck used as a truck!! Where I around (Surrey/Langley BC Canada) Trucks seem to be a status symbol and never have a scratch or anything on them, never used to do a days work. So sad.
Diego, it's always good to see you , you are always working you don't stop to eat or drink, please take a break, you have to take care of yourself. But I love your videos. Take care
I just stubbled onto this video- so funny at 10 min in the conversation with the log truck guy and comments on Cotton Wood - cracks me up.
Murry is one cool dude!!
I love to see a hardworking man. I wish you had a trailer so you could take it all. I want to see more video of you working like this.
Extra wood can even be sold by the cord. 4X4X8 is a cord.
Great firewood shed & great firewood pile! ✌️😸🐾🐾🌻🇱🇷
I love it when you are gathering wood! One of my favorite things.
Diego, Great job. Hard work pays off for you and the road travelers. I do the same thing it keeps me young. Im 67 and still buckin it up.
Awesome video. I love cutting, splitting, piling, etc... really enjoyed this.
love free wood and it's even better with the free help. thanks for the community service
FINALLY YOU GOT A GAS SAW I M SO PROUD!
This guy is the truest definition of an”American Patriot”, it’s all about safety. He made the roads safe for all drivers, including the forestry folks!!!❤❤❤
Now that's what I call a job well done! CONGRATS.
I love hard work ,I can sit and watch it for hours .
I haven't been able to watch for a few months. So glad you were able to get a gas powered saw and work so much quicker and efficiently.
To be young again with endless energy.
Diego you just work your fingers to the bone every single day. What a mighty good man. You could take some of that wood over to Al's. Also, don't judge me, but i want that random forestry service guys coffee cup O.O.
I have been splitting wood all my life from the time I was like 8 years old. I am not going to say how you are splitting wood is wrong because everyone has their own way of splitting wood. I would like to offer you a little advice with the hopes you try it and see what a difference it makes. So Get an old wire coat hanger Open it and wrap it around the base of the splitting mall and even your Axes. You can also use half of the wire from a old coat hanger and wrap it around the base of your hatchet.
Try it for about 6 month even a year if you like and tell me what you have learned about this old trick. The only regret you will have is you never tried it before. If after you have tried this and you have no idea why I said to do this I will tell you all the Benefits. I see many video's of people splitting wood by hand and not one of them have done this. I have not told anyone about this trick in years so you are the first in many years I have told about this.
I can watch this video all day.
That was nice of Al’s brother to help you! Haha
You are doing your community a great service by clearing the road sides after the storm. If I could make one suggestion get a hi viz jacket if your near roads so drivers can see you clearly.
not only do you get the extra wood you need! your also helping to prevent a motor vehicle crash! and helping clean up the roads! great job
I finally did it I hit the Subscribe button and notify me all the time so I'm giving myself a big pat on the back..😅 I have been watching you for a little bit and I like what you do I'm in love with Al I like the Smith family and your girlfriend Julia.. I used to live at Mount Hood and I miss it dearly now I'm stuck down here in Florida where I absolutely hate it.. you make me homesick😢 keep doing what you're doing and I'll keep watching a big hug to all of you have a happy Sunday😊😊❤❤
Worked in High Wycome England 50 years ago .
After a storm the furniture factory opposite my digs sent out teams to recover oak elm etc
Waste not want not!😊
I love people like the forestry guy, realises you are a good person, doing a good thing, helping clear the road, and getting free wood to the bargain! plus you can tell that he primarily works alone, as he enjoyed someone to chat too 😂
Always a great day when you post, Diego!
This video popped up, so I gave it a watch. Now I'm binge-watching your videos. I enjoy the format and content.
I used to do this in the far northern part of BC Canada….loved wood in my storage unit on farm….just spotted you for first time…too bad you don’t have a mill…what a beautiful opportunity for milling wood…into lumber….
I couldn't understand why I wasn't getting notifications and then realized I never check the bell. I did now so I should get more than the random one I came across. Take care Diego.
J’adore voir comment vous embellissez ces jardins. Bravo Monsieur . Françoise du sud de la France entre Cannes et Nice. 👏👍
Absolute gold ..Random forest service guy deserves a beer ... .. wish I was there ..free gym membership
I used to love doing this kind of stuff. Miss it. Good friend of mine told me; "getting old ain't for sissies". I cleaned that up just a bit.
Diego, how about getting a trailer so you don't keep overloading the truck [even if you do only have a short way to go home!]?
Forest service guy - old school - great bloke.
And as for HIS chain saw - AWESOME!
I was impressed with the load he was putting on that truck.
Great workout today.
You're brilliant, the only thing I would like to see is you wearing a hi vis vest because the traffic gets very close to you, but keep up the good work, good wishes and respect from Scotland 🏴.
A good firewood supply is something that covers not only this winter, not only next winter, but the winter after that as well, giving the logs plenty of time to dry out and season nicely. Some species won't need that much drying time, but others (cottonwood is notoriously slow to dry) can literally require a couple of years. If it were me, I'd consider building & running 2 separate woodsheds, so there's always one you're drawing from that's the seasoned wood, plus a second full one that's busy curing. That way, you'll always know which is the older lot of wood. (But that's me, lol; you do you!)
that is fun though to be there as a woodcutter.
weather is cool .and people are so friendly there .i wish to live that way .
america is full of livelyhood material .❤
A lonely job for a lonely engineer. A wealth of experience and knowledge that needs to be shared.
Great job cutting the wood up that's nice county people help out
Excellent work Diego and What a gentleman the Forest guy was Keep up the good work
I thought it was uncle Si for a minute!! Seems like a great guy. Great ambassador for the USFS. 👍🏼
Diego, I happened upon your video and watched and was very impressed by what a hard-working young man you are, so I subscribed to your channel. I am 64 year old grandmother when I was growing up. My family never lived in town, and when I was in my teens, we lived in a house that had a furnace that burned wood and gas. I would go with my parents to cut wood, and I remember what a job that was to get that wood. Your video broght back memories. I look forward to more videos. 😊
My Dad was a logger and each fueling he’d touch up his chain. He told me if I had to push on the saw I needed to sharpen it.
Diego, it surprised me that other people beyond the Forestry Service guy stopped to help you. You are doing a huge service to all motorists going through this road.
Ain’t nothing like a gas chain saw.
Agreed for the bigger stuff. I’ve got both. The cordless has a 14” blade and i use it about 90% of the time. For small limbs, it’s easier and quicker.
Certainly appreciate the collaborative revealed here. However working as wildland firefighter until 72 , still with FD in 80 th year. PPE important as the Forest service employee stated Chaps, Hardhat, safety vest. Where roadway blocking occurs from down trees, minimum should be pylons for traffic safety control. Moving wood across the road can be tenuous especially when traffic approaching from blind curves. Living in the woods off grid for 22 years and fire service for 30 SITUATIONAL AWARENESS with appropriate PPE at the job site will increase you chances of returning home each day safely. BTW ON ONE OCCASION YOU FELL BACK WITH SAW IN HAND , COULD HAVE BEEN LIFE THREATENING WITH SAW IMPACTING YOUR LEG. I ENJOYED WATCHING
Your work ethic. I will check in again to see your new PPE next wood cutting episode. Excellent cleanup to white line!!!!!! TRJM 😊
