The last time I had a customer complain that the extra hot coffee was l"uke warm at best", I instructed them to prove it, by chugging down the drink in a single go, or they can admit the truth. Most asked me if I'm insane, but were forced to admit they were lying. A few were stupid enough to try, but ended up burning themselves and spilling it all over their clothes. If they had succeeded, then I would have happily made them a replacement drink that was even hotter, but none did.

He listen to her questions and then said he didn't know, and to ask me as I would be best person to ask about paint. I knew the answers to all her questions. Including the science between white and pure brilliant white. She asked I answered. She didn't even want white paint. She was given more than 1 lesson, got everything she needed for her decorating. Had other customers like this male and females. Males can be harder because they don't always like it when you know more than them.
My colleague did have a laugh about it, he genuinely didn't have the answers and was initially confused as to why I had called him to assist.

As a barista I HATED people that asked for their coffee/milk extra hot. Anything above 70C and the milk begins to break down as it approaches boiling point for milk, it looses texture and will end up souring.

True story. I'm a machinist working for a large global company. I'm machining some parts and I see a guy walking by and he just looks lost. I ask the guy "Hey you look lost you need help?" It's a huge building I figure that's what's up. He says "Yeah I'm looking for meeting room 3" I tell him "Let me finish this cut and I'll walk you over there" he says "Cool." I safe the machine and walk him across the plant he says he's just transferred from European operations. We chat a bit, it's a 10 minute walk. I deliver him to the meeting and it has the plant manager ,my boss, my bosses boss. 5 or 6 department heads. You get the idea. Turns out it's the new CEO. For the entire company. When ever I see him he comes over and chats for a bit. Super nice dude.

I mean, leaving the family jewels wide-open for injury like that, and then expecting not to be harmed in retaliation to your harassment? What an idiot. This is why I usually sit on the outer seat if I have my bag in the seat next to me, though: this way, I'll have a clear way out of the situation if someone gets handsy with me. It also has two added bonuses: people are less likely to ask to sit next to you in the first place, and as long as you keep in physical contact with your bag? I've worked construction for decades before becoming an engineer and saw that women are just as competent as men in the trades, but I must admit, when it comes to welding... women are born naturals to welding and there is something about women welders that put men to shame. Remember that if ever you need a welder and see it is a woman who shows up to do the work. You will get pristine welds that are second-to-none!

The story about the perv on the bus reminded me about a very similar situation I saw when I was attending trade school in a bigger city in about 1990 and was using public transit to get around. A jerk on the bus did the EXACT same thing to a pretty gal that was going to be same school I was but for a different trade. His actions towards her infuriated many of us but it was a different lady (Sheila) who I knew on the bus who took ultimate revenge on him with the bus drivers assistance. As the pretty gal got off the bus, and the bus started moving, Sheila started waddling her way forward as her stop was the one after the next, and when she got right next to the jerk she winked at the driver who happened to be her uncle as he looked in the mirror and he purposely hit a huge pot hole and on cue Sheila “fell” onto the jerks lap. Mind you the seats on these busses were unpadded hard fiberglass and Sheila weighed about an honest 450 lbs so when she “fell” the jerks legs and lap had no escape from the onslaught that befell him and since back then there were no cameras on the transit busses and nobody else on the bus could stand the jerk the snapping sound followed by his screams of pain weren’t noticed by anyone as his leg broke under the sudden weight falling on it and the edge of the seat. His complaint to the transit authority and his attempt at a lawsuit failed because there were no witnesses who would back up his claim and everyone said he had a bad limp when he had gotten on the bus so was obviously hurt before then and everyone agreed that Sheila had not fallen on him nor had she been out of her seat while the bus was moving and nobody had witnessed her telling him that it was disgusting how he had treated that pretty gal. Sadly Sheila passed away about a year later. According to others Her weight problem was due to a thyroid problem caused by an inoperable tumor and she herself had been a petite pretty woman just a couple years before.

Something similar to the last story happened to my dad. He was just 40 and he already owned an insurance company in Colombia. He was traveling through the country and stopped by one of the the branches in another city. He goes to talk to the secretary so she could inform the branch manager that he was there. She first told my dad that the manager was busy and without an appointment he would not receive my dad. Then proceeded to tell him that it is bad manners for him to put his briefcase on top of her desk. My dad tells me he tried to tell her he was the owner of the company but she was having none of it. He tells me that at that moment the branch manager walks out of his office and immediately goes to say hi to my dad and introduces him to the secretary hat by now is totally apologetic. My dad simply told her that that is not the way to treat anyone and that she should be kind and helpful towards anyone who comes to the office not just him that is the owner. They didn’t fire her but they did talk to her.

Let me set the scene for you. I am in a bookstore, arranging books on the shelves and on the displays. This is the Prehistoric Age before Karen's were a thing. Nevertheless, this woman walks in, groom to the nines. I forget whether her haircut was the uniform haircut of the modern Karen. I smile at her and say hello I will be right with you. Feel free to look around. This triggers off an attitude similar to the volcano Krakatoa erupting. Apparently I was supposed to drop everything including the double handful of books that I was arranging. And prostrate myself at her feet. Happy for an opportunity to serve her Supreme insanity. She spends almost 5 minutes, telling me what an incompetent worker I am. Touching briefly upon my ancestry and probable sexual habits. And ending with the Battle Cry of the Karen. I want to speak to the manager. I go over to the cash register phone. Teresa, we have a woman out here who insists upon speaking to the manager. Teresa takes a few minutes as she was eating lunch in the back room. This woman launches upon a psychotic diatribe. And accuses me of crimes I did not commit although I do admit that I was seriously tempted. And demanding that the manager fire me at once. Teresa looked over at me and look back to her. Her mouth Twisted in a sarcastic smirk. Oh woman! I have had fantasies, late at night in my bed, of firing this man. But since he's the actual owner of the bookstore I just can't do that.

Story 1: The Karen was probably looking for a lawsuit. There is more than one reason why coffee places don't heat coffee above certain temperatures. One is to keep the milk from curdling. Another is to keep people from burning themselves. Asking for extra hot coffee and then complaining that it wasn't hot enough when it was nearing boiling tells me that is what she was attempting. The reaction of the manager told her they were a no nonsense type of person so she backed off. And yes, those people do tend to target new employees since they are more likely to fall for the trap just like any other scam.
Story 2: Creeps like that deserve any pain they get from their predatory actions.
Story 3: Prime example of play stupid games win stupid prizes.
Story 4: I have seen this play out before especially when it comes to hardware stores and mechanics. There is unfortunately still an attitude that those are male oriented fields of knowledge and sometimes it is easier to do what OP did and just hand it over to a less knowledgeable person who can act as a intermediate.
Story 5:: I've heard that one before and it always reminds me to never assume anything. The boss isn't always dressed for work and treating people like dirt can backfire easily. At least OG had the decency to not put them down as a reference, but them again treating a owner like that wouldn't exactly make for the best reference either.

Many years ago I worked for a well known bank in a busy large city. There was escalating fraud going on so the bank cracked down on cashing checks "without recourse" what that means is that if the check was not written on our bank so that we could verify funds before cashing it, the customer presenting the check would need to have the funds in their account to cover it. The alternative was to take the check to the bank on which it was written and cash it there. So, on to the story. Its a Friday afternoon, pay day for many people, and a man comes in with a paycheck written on a bank about a mile down the street. I look in his account and he has 10 cents in his account. I check his history and he's never had none than 10.00 in his account at any given time. I think he kept the account just to cash his paycheck. He never deposited it. So I explain that unfortunately we would be unable to negotiate the transaction and his choices were to either deposit the check in to his account, give it a day or 2 to clear the other bank, or present it to the other bank which was about a mile down the road. Well, as you can guess, he went ballistic, threatening to close his account, at which time my bank manager, who had been watching the whole thing, handed him a dime and said there you go, your account is closed, have a good day. My manager, had, indeed, closed his account. The guy went crazy and we had to call the police to have him escorted out. Good times.

So we get a lot of international Karens and Kevins bringing with them cultural biases, too. It's all the same either way. It just means that it happens a LOT. What they didn't understand was that not only have I worked in several electronics stores and departments, I was an electronics technician in the US Navy. That didn't make me particularly an expert tvs computers and cameras, but it did give me technical knowledge and vocabulary that made a big difference. I couldn't tell you how many times I've had a customer ask me a question, didn't like my answer, go get a male employee who brought them right back to me for the answer. I loved it!

~10 years ago I caught an already grouchy female barista trying to piss in my coffee, that was a hoot. She was squatting behind the counter, acting like she was getting something, but I could see what she was doing in one of the mirrors. Why? She claimed she mistook me for some other customer who frequently hits on her and requests nasty names on his callout for his orders (I'd never seen her before in my entire life, because I'd never been in that shop before). The manager fired her on the spot, gave me a fistful of gift certificates, and begged me not to report it to corporate. I was like, "Hey, as far as I';m concerned, you did your job, she's gone, and I have no beef with you." However, I used those certificates at a different shop in that chain and have never been back to that specific place, and probably never will, because his hiring practices leave much to be desired.

I was spraying hot spots on the newly aerated greens at my golf course. My superintendent was with me as he was checking to make sure the drag had gone well (make a bunch of holes in the green, spread sand and drag it in- the drag) and a guy who was on the tee box of this par 5 marathons his group to get within chipping distance while we are on the green. Sand had gotten into the hose quick connect and my super was trying to get the end into it, the guy hits into us, the ball hits my house and goes rolling back down the rather impressive hill on this green. My super says,"was that a ball?" Yup, and he goes back to getting the end in the connect when the guy who just got into me comes up the hill and starts yelling at me, ruining his shot at birdie and I was looking at him when out of the corner of my eye I see my super kick the key which clears the sand blockage AND makes the 2 foot of hose in front of where I'm holding it, twitch. Now there's this moment where I'm shocked, the raiving looney in front of me stops midsentance and a 2 inch hose of medium pressure water hits him in the chest as I jerk the steam to the side. Golfer just turned around and went back down the hill, my super yells, "see you at 13" and I finish my job, store my hose, look over the hill and tell "clear!". And get it off there. Halfway to 13 I come up on my super in the woods laughing his ass off. The golfer was a regular. Couple weeks later he came up on me as I was about neck deep in a hole fixing a leaky valve, covered in mud. He apologized for yelling, he had put money on the hole and didn't see we were still on it. "Sure" and was sorry that I had to be in such a terrible like job for it. "Terrible job for it? Nah, that was just an unfortunate incident. This, this is Tuesday and the packing but on this valve decided to leak. All part of the job." Oh, okay then, sorry about the other day then. I thanked him. The three times I was nailed with golf balls? Never got apologized to for those.

I’ve been the owner and bumped into Karen’s who didn’t know it. Always a good time. I would go “get the manager@ by walking around the corner and coming back with a huge smile.

Story five: That woman wanted to crawl into a hole and bury herself alive. She disrespected the CEO's business partner and sister, as well as his child. What a horrible first impression. 🤦🏾‍♀️

No sympathy. It doesn't matter WHO she was abusing, she was still abusing people.

The Karen learned who is real owner of this business, land, and private property, and did not like the consequences!

When I was 16 i went with my mother who only yelled at customer service people to make a complaint at the phone company. During one sentence I heard my mother's voice going from screaming to calm. In the middle of the sentence!!! I thought, oh my gosh, that lady made her do that. So, I made it my life to play a game with every yelling customer I got to calm them down. It was fun. I felt so accomplished!! lol All customers want to know is that You Hear their problem and You are going to Fix it!! They are yelling at the problem not you.

honestly that girl shouldve shouldered the back pack at the right height then swung it in his face/nose first then clumsily scrape past him while apologizing all the time. "sorry, its so annoying that these bus seats are so close together. not much leg room, dont you agree? have a good day!"

First story: No, Fluff, you're not reaching at all.
I do feel a bit sorry for OP, though, because we all know (he or she) had to clean up that mess.

I've heard the "office manager" story a few times before, and I love it, every time!

The call center one, I feel that so much. When I hear that "I've waited so long to talk to you! Why did I have to wait so long?? This is ridiculous!" I just kind of sit there and say "sorry. How can I help you?"

Stories like the third one are unfortunately common, lots of people out there that discover all they have to do is threaten to take their business elsewhere and management will fall all over themselves to appease them. No matter how often they pull this shit, or how horrible they treat the employees. No incentive for them to stop either since they keep getting rewarded for it.
Worked in a super market bakery for 14 years, and this one family always ordered a full sheet cake every year. And like clock work every year they'd come back with maybe a corner and a bit of cake left and demand their money back for some stupid reason or another ( oddly enough, the problems they listed never stopped them from eating most or all of the cake ) and yet every year management refunded their money and in some cases even gave them coupons and vouchers...fucking insane.
