  • Coyotes are predators of opportunity and are always looking for a weakness in their prey for an easy take-down and meal. Well, this buck is no weakling and even acted like he wanted to kick the snot out of this Yote.

I bought my dad a red heeler pup in January 2018 around 5 months after he had his black lab put down and they instantly became best friends. My dad lives way out in French creek,wv and has fed “his deer” for over 20 years. This crazy dog made friends with the herd of deer and watches over them when dad is feeding them. It’s the craziest relationship I’ve ever seen, the deer, the dog, the dad. 😂

Heelers, red or blue are extremely territorial and very protective of their property, their cattle; or in this case, deer, and most importantly, their people!! A Buddy of mine and I were fishing a trout stream going through a pasture with Dairy cattle . Two Blue Heelers guarded the cattle and let us get nowhere near!😆😆Best guard dogs around!!👍👍

Coyotes do this... it is a lure.
They send one from their pack hoping the buck will be bold enough to persue into an ambush.
That is why he seems bold in his approach but then has no hesitation turning to flee or acting as if he is dumb and doesnt know whether to actually attack the deer or run.
Coyotes take down bucks that size and bigger with ambush attacks because the buck can likely escape them if they all tried to approach it at once.

Thanks for that comment Paul! I have captured a few vids of coyote packs of 6 to 8 but, in my area, usually only in pairs of a male and female hunting and at night.

A single coyote is not a problem. It's when the pack arrives the deer are in trouble, especially the young or hobbled. I've found what's left of some after the coyotes destroyed them. Nature can be cruel at times.

@JS Project Wild Very cool. I have been using an obscure company called Boly along with a few crappies cameras. The Boly camera's image is beautiful as well. I am always curious to see what others are using out there. I will probably definitely try Browning one day mostly due to being able to use to a 512 Gb SD. I like the idea of leaving the camera out longer in order not to disrupt the wildlife too much.
