    C’est Biarritz? Nice summary of the camera. Mine arrives next week. It’s an upgrade for me going from the E-M5 to this one

    Looks like the OMD em10 mk II would be better value right now. You can get the MKII with a kit lens for less than the price on body only MkIII

    Does the camera crop the image during video mode? I hate that my E-M5 mk 2 does that. It takes away the advantage of shooting with a wide angle.

    Hi Mathieu!
    What do you think between E-M10 III vs Olympus PEN-F for 70% photography and 30% video

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Pen F definitely has a beautiful design, is very nice to use overall, has a few extra features and a superior build quality.
      The E-M10 III has better video capabilities but more important, it's less expensive meaning you can spend the extra cash in a good prime lens for example.

    Hi Hi, is it worth buying a used em1 mk1 today vs a new em10mk3 in your opinion? I want good IQ and want to shoot action and macro and leaning towards a used em1 mk1 given the last firmware has focus stacking.

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The E-M1 mk1 has more settings for focus bracketing, and does stacking in camera unlike the E-M10 III so the E-M1 would be a better choice for macro.

      Mathieu Gasquet will the em1 phase detection help at all with constant focus tracking on non pro m.zuiko olympus lenses Vs the em10 mkiii? Or is the phase detection only for backwards compatibility using 4/3rds lenses. I read your blog but was a little lost on this point. Great blog and YT channel btw.

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Phase detection helps with m.zuiko lenses too, especially in C-AF.

    I see some of the shots are taken with the PL 15mm. Do you plan to do a review on that lens?

  • @hedydd2
    @hedydd2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The menu system appears to be dumbed down somewhat for new users. I would get the MkII while available or the E-M5MkII. This is a sensible revision to make it more suitable to those new to Olympus OMD cameras but it is no way an upgrade from the MkII in my opinion.

      +Geek UpTube thanks. I haven’t tried the X-E3 but it has the same tech as the X-T20, so faster AF and more dynamic range. The E-M5 mk3 should be an interesting one, hopefully we’ll see it next year.

      If I'm doing 60% video and 40% photography, would you recommend E-M10 III or Panasonic G85?

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      G85, it has better video quality and more settings.

    • @FarithJamli
      @FarithJamli 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mathieu Gasquet thank you for your response, it is really helpful. How about the stabilization? I've shaky hand. I'm attracted to Olympus due to the perfect in body stabilization without needing to use stabilize lens. Does G85 (without stabilize lens on in body stabilization) have better stabilization than E-M10 III ?

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The E-M10 III is better in my opinion when it comes to stabilisation but the G85 performance isn't bad.

    Is it worth to upgrade from em10 mark1 to mark3 as iso performance? Thank you

    • @blossom.ch4
      @blossom.ch4 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but if you don't need4k and you like the menu style of the mark 1, get the mark 2. The mark 3 loses features compared to the 1 and 2

    How's the detailing in landscapes etc. Im looking to buy it..

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The lens can influence a lot for that, the kit lens that comes with the camera (14-42mm EZ) is not the best, so if you want better details it's a good idea to invest in a prime lens or a better zoom.

    I'm in the market for a camera and I'm looking at em10 Mark III, gx85 and g85. I'm primarily gonna be shooting short films handheld and on tripod so I'd value good IBIS. 70% video and 30% stills. I don't care about the mic jack as I'd be recording audio externally. Where I live I'm getting g85 for 700 dollars, gx85 for 600, both these with kit lens and em10 for 425 body only. So my question is it worth the extra 180 dollars to get gx85 or more for g85. How much difference is there in video quality between the Olympus and Panasonic. Or if you have any other camera recommendation in that price range with ibis.

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would get one of the two Panasonic if video is the priority. I prefer the quality of Panasonic when it comes to video. I think the G85 is the best option for its ergonomics and larger body.

  • @chansuri608
    @chansuri608 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    What if compare with Panasonic GX85/GX80, which one is better choice? I feel like GX80 has better kit lense and video performance with about the same image quality though behind in EVF and in body IS. Please share your opinion as I'm considering buy one. Thank you.

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The E-M10 III has better stabilisation, viewfinder and ergonomics/grip. The GX80 has better 4K quality and overall video performance. The kit lens on the Pana is a little bit better and has a wider angle of view (12mm vs 14mm) which can be quite handy.

      Mathieu Gasquet if I do 60% video 40 % photo, Sony A6300 or OMD EM-10 III?

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The a6300 has better video capabilities (more dynamic range, better high ISO performance, 120fps in 1080p, faster AF) but the E-M10 III is more practical (5-axis stabilisation, more intuitive menu system etc.). If video is the priority, I would probably choose the Sony though.

    Please make a comparison with the Fuji X-T20! You already made a side by side comparison for the video quality but you didn't share your opinions and compare with other stuff than video quality!

    Hello, I'm having problems with my em10mkiii video, everyone says the stabilization is very smooth, but if I pan or move the image gets very gittery. I even introduced the focal lenght on the stabilization menu in case it was that. If I'm static it's good. I'm using sensor + digital stabilization.

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't need to input the focal length if you're using a micro four thirds lens. Are you panning quickly or slowly? Sometimes you need trial and errors to find the right speed.

    • @jangarcia1338
      @jangarcia1338 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mathieu Gasquet Hi! I did a factory reset and it's better now, I also changed from ms1 to ms2. I was panning left right and up down landscape sceneries, not too fast but not extremely slow either. And it wasn't the jello effect of the sensor compensation that I've seen explained in some of your videos, but more of a jittery kind of shake.
      By the was has Olympus told you or have found how much the new processor improves low light and overall image quality?

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @psionicdreams
    @psionicdreams 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It doesn't sound like they've made any real improvements from the mk2. For the money, I'd suggest that the Lumix G80 to be better value, even tho it is a little more expensive.

      psionicdreams they never made any real substantial improvements to the em5ii over the em5 and people still bought them ....

    Stopped watching when heard that top and bottom plates are now made of plastic... All metal construction was one of the most attractive qualities of EM10 series. Now it's gone... As well as my interest to Olympus products... I know there are 5 and 1 series but I don't need anything more expensive than EM10 to fulfill my camera needs. Especially to get back what already was there ( great all metal construction). Sad but true.

    Very dissappointing camera, even lowering the build quality with more plastic parts and removing important functions, shame on you Oly! The only reason to buy this camera over the Mark II is if you really need the 4K recording. It still has crappy C-AF in video mode so buying this camera just for 4K doesn't make much sense to me. Just buy the Mark II and use the saved money to buy a cheap Panasonic camera that shoots 4K if you really need it.
