I 100% agree with you. I was looking at many different cars like e92 m3, Porsche 911, Jaguar F type, M4, c63. However, i wanted something unique and that would stand out from the rest. I already had a c class sedan and was behind Mercedes due to their comfort and amazing drivability. So I went and got an 2014 cls 63s amg. This car is absolutely amazing and i am glad with my purchase.
I can only imagine what that S-class coupe ride is like. I have an E-class coupe and it rides like a dream. It is such a different ride from the C-class.
I have had a E55, E63, (2) S550 sedans. I currently have a 2016 S550 Coupe, stock Matt white with designó cinnamin color interior and carbón fiber accents with custom Matt white and gloss blk 20" lambo looking wheels. I Purchased with 4000 miles and now 42000. I only jacked up the ECU and K&N air filters. Its a smooth riding rocket and always gets compliments. Best Benz for the money for sure. He explained this car very well and sccurately.
I have had 3 and let me tell you, the only way to own one is the S500 or S63 but only with the EVERY SINGLE option. Don't buy one without the 3D sound system of the base interior. If you buy a base the interior is only leather seating. The rest of the interior is MB tex. You are the only person that actually knows this. I laugh when I listen to people that actually don't know what they are talking about. The one to own if you buy a 550 is the Edition 1. It's has everything PLUS!!! Enjoy. I will keep buying them as long as I can find them with NO miles. I have had all mine tuned because the car isn't that powerful but once its tuned it's as fast as the 63 if not faster. I also have VIM done and I watch videos all the time. As for the pre-facelift, I find it as beautiful as any other, It's just a preference. The only downfall is you can't have a 550 and the newer upgraded infotainment but hey, it's still finer than 99% of any cars of the road. DO NOT change out the exhaust. If you use OETUNING they can fix the exhaust to sound like a 63. I've had 3 GT's and they aren't any greater and in fact will eat you alive in repairs after you are out of warranty. These cars are completely reliable. I always buy high end extended warranties but have NEVER had to use them, they will make your car worth more money at resale.

Couldn’t agree more. Have the S63 coupe with every single option. Burmester high end, magic sky, carbon ceramics, driver assistance, split view, night vision, heated windshield, warmth and weather package, dynamica heated steering wheel, designo mocha black exterior, designo saddle brown interior, crystal headlights, and to top it off. Installed one of the invisible radar/laser detectors/jammers. Thing has been a dream to own. Plus it’s going up in used car value. Think people are starting to realize it’s most likely the last of an era (last of their flagship luxury coupes i mean). I’m not flexing here. Just love cars and love what this thing can do. Drives on clouds and is also just a monster with that 4Matic system and all that. Also, i didn’t know they even made the s coupe in the states with rwd
Edit: the upgraded burmester high end stereo is the best I’ve ever heard in my life
I have the S63 Coupe and the thing rides like a rolls and in sport rides like a Continental coupe. It has the best of both of them into one. The high end stereo is the best I’ve ever heard in a vehicle. You have good taste my friend. Stay classy 😎
P.S. Bentley just doesn’t match up altogether. Wraith does luxury better of course but that’s where it ends.

If you do end up getting the AMG variant then at least make sure it comes with the high-end stereo , the carbon ceramics, and the designo upgraded upholstery. Also I won’t lie the magic sky roof is pretty damn cool too but certainly not a game changer🍻
As a e 53 coupe owner, s coupe is my dream car,I must say, for me s class + e coupe + c coupe = s coupe. I was a Audi wagon fan before, but s coupe turn me to Mercedes side. Porsche is nice , but I am not a big fan of it interior.
Congratulations. A truly stunning car ,,, that original model has a stunning chrome splitter on the front end which you don’t get on a facelift model.
Such a rare car and only made for 5 years, so it’s booing to become a collectors piece. Stunning just stunning

The unspoken benefit of buying this model second hand is that Mercedes have carried the design language through to the recent launch of the CL. So it is still very current 9 years since it was launched in 2015. How unusual is that!!
This is the perfect car, the car I expect kids in school are being taught as the prime example how car used to look like.
I got the w2017 s550 sedan for about 2 years. The only issue that I experience so far is the sensitive sensor if you leave the car undrive for about 3 weeks. Those warning lights will automatically come off after a day or so.

Thank you for this video I've been car shopping for one and finally got to drive a couple coupes and im sold on the feeling. Coming from a m4 its a completely different ride.

@@eusdeenius ill make a video reviewing my s class, how kt compares to my m4. But in a short answer, its almost un comparable. It two completely different classes in the coupe world. You dont buy a sclass to do the things in M.

Totally agree about the different characters. I got a bad taste after driving BMW the last few years. It drove me nuts that the car tries to be sportive while being a fat fuck and a diesel. I want comfort but a sound of V8 now. Or some distinct character.

I absolutely love the S Coupe, but unfortunately im a huge interior critique in the sense that I cant see myself getting the S coupe because my E class has the same interior and I dont wanna have the same interior for a decade in 2 different cars. So any S class, cls, or amg gt 4dr is a no go for me :( Im looking at Panamera 4S's, 911 CS's or even AMG GTS as my next car. Shame that I have to depart the brand bc of this! 3 benzes in a row and I cant see myself in a 4th one unless its the AMG GT 2dr. Beautiful S Coupe tho

Maybe thats what happened. My 2017 AMG S63 Cab has been (knock on my wooden head) problem-free. I'm only at 16,000 miles, but so far not so much as a wobble. @@JamesSalvatore
i was thinking of an M4 or 911 but they just dont make sense when this exists. Why sit in cheaper interior when you get gapped by a guy in a s63 sitting in the best interior cars have to offer, plus that v8, its just a no brainer

I'm 25 and am in this exact car predicament. Choosing between this, an MC Stradale, or just get a big body 2018+ Range Rover. This video is definitely making me think that this S550 is the way to go. Thanks for the help. I imagine yearly maintenance costs aren't horrible.

@@JamesSalvatore the S class? So since you made this video would you say you’ve changed your mind about getting the car because of maintenance issues? I’ve been looking at ones around $45-50k with under 50k miles. MC Stradale would be the sports car option, Range Rover would be the cruiser option. This car seems like the middle ground.
As long as you have a warranty go for it but just don't go for it without a third party warranty. Every car you mentioned is a high maintenance vehicle so you have an idea of what your getting used to

I'm 28 insurance is 3400 a year for me in CT, fidelity warranty is what I have
I have the S63 coupe with all options and it’s a hell of a car. I just went with the Renntech exhaust module that allows remote control of the exhaust valves sounds great at idle with valves open
I was thinking of getting that module so it's worth it

Oh damn for real??! I currently own a 2014 CL 550 that I bought about 5yrs ago with 30k miles. Since them Ive put thousands and thousands of dollars into it. I love it but its turned into a money pit. Was hoping to sell it and get the newer version just like yours sometime this summer. Cant wait to see your vid, thx!

The Coupe will most likely be my next upgrade to my S-Class saloon. I will aim for a fully loaded example or the highest spec I can afford depending on availability.
As a result I may have to settle for a pre-facelift S63/S500 although I may push the boat out a bit for a S560

I own two, the 2015 550 and the 2020 560 both loaded and love this model, when I purchased the first one I knew I wouldn’t buy anything else again, now that they aren’t available I’m looking at Rolls Royce Wraith or Maybe Aston Martin for a similar body style and comfort / features but they don’t compare in features and tech.
I feel that this truly is a unique offering. Is the facelift 560 version worth upgrading to considering selling for a newer one
@@JamesSalvatore I bought the 2020 560 because I was told they may no longer be offered and found one with 2000 miles used at a huge discount (close friends with owners of a massive dealership), but I’d buy another one if they were available; there isn’t a suitable replacement on the market.
I feel the same way I want to find a low 18-21 model because I love the car so much. I feel like there isn't anything I could replace this with. It's the perfect balance
@@JamesSalvatore there are two 2021 S63 on the market now, but one has a totaled title and the other had water damage in the Florida Hurricane. There are is one S560 as of yesterday available on MBUSA, selling with low miles, but the market is bringing very high money on these cars and believe they’ll come down by fall; finding them is the challenge.

It just looks so perfect, the proportions that is. Other Mercedes convertible, especially the older ones look weird. This, just perfect. S-Class is my dream attainable car. Currently own an LS460 fully optioned out and I'm happy with this until I am more wealthy in sha ALLAH

So bro! I have had a 2021 e 53 coupe for a year now and i love it! But im wanting more luxury now. With 13k miles on it now, do u think i should switch to a used s class coupe? I found one right at 13k miles as well. Ive never had a used mercedes so im a bit hesitant on it

I ended up buying a prefacelift s63 because I had a good trade in and just so happened to get one exactly the way I would order one. I like the 5.5 sound, I like the tail lights, and the classic bullseye Mercedes grill has grown on me. Its a carbon fiber package so that may make a difference. I wasn’t in the market but I certainly wasn’t going to spend 20k more for a raspy exhaust, carplay, and Panamera grill.
The 5.5 is the stronger motor, and I like the 7 speed trans much better than the nine. You can add carplay and theyres a million panamericana grills you can get to replace the stock one. Hope that helps I'm just going to do carplay

Don't be afraid of it maintience isn't bad be sure to look for wrinkles lifting leather dash those are expensive issues

Among other factors, the "visibility/statement" is an issue for me. Nobody notices my AMG S63 Cab, but almost everybody notices the Bentley. I prefer to fly a little bit under the radar. It does seem like you could pull off the Bentley with ease.

How much maintenance a yr
Varies you need minimum 6 k a year for random things that can go. Under warranty I changed the vacuum pump high pressure fuel pumps fuel pump and tank 12 k

Gives you nothing of an AMG actually... you cant even cmpare it.. Its a nice car one of the best but s63 AMG is THE coupe to own.
As an S63 AMG Cab owner, I can say that it is the way to go if you can afford it. But James is under half my age and I sure as hell wasn't able to afford a stunning used S-Class at his age. I was driving a sh*t box at 25. So, well played, James.
