    UPDATE DECEMBER: The section with DP's we can now fully AA and Kara with HP Dp due to the system changes so feel free to AA with HP DP. I think that's the biggest point to make without re-doing the video. The other changes are mostly situational quality of life changes.

    I could have made this even bigger, but it was blowing out, I think there's enough here for everyone whilst we fine tune Sagat. I will probably make deeper video's on the V-triggers later.

      Perfect.
      VT1 have combos and uses that I've discovered and if Capcom change it to 2 bars without any nerfs, it would be a bit broken.
      It's "balanced" at 3 bars so Sagat can do more zoning via v-reversal.

    @bridgeburner909 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Another great guide! I feel his throw game isn't the worst. It's nowhere near as good as even Ryu's but there are still options: Most people will push a button after you forward throw them because they know you are likely walking in on them. As you say a lot of Sagat's buttons will hit from here and it is down to us to ensure they don't. You can manually time a sweep here and it will crush giving an easy way to force the V2 unblock-able setup or oki based on a hard KD (Don't know what to do here with Sagat yet). crMK also hits people pushing buttons here and is the safest option so as you say buffer into fireball on that is a safe option. Both of these can be avoided if the opponent back dashes. HK will hit from this range and crush anything other than an invincible, it will also crush back dashers if timed well. If you have V-trigger HP is great. It will beat any button and catch the startup of the back dash leading to a full v-trigger combo. I've been trying to condition people to expect a button at which point and once they are passive I can walk on them without being jabbed and put them in the throw, shimmy or button scenario. As I said, we have tools here. They aren't the greatest but there are options. Lastly on the back throw you can micro walk then exTK which leaves you +3 on block. Burns meter but puts them in a guessing game scenario which I feel is worth it. You probably know all of that but I hope something might be helpful on the off chance you didn't!

    • @TotalSagat
      @TotalSagat  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tested the EX on back throw, I got the feeling that the characters hurt box mattered, for instance if I picked Cammy it whiffed, but Ryu would hit. Also there seemed to be differences if it was crouch block or stand block, in the end I abandoned it. It feels like sagat has tech potential though !

    • @bridgeburner909
      @bridgeburner909 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is interesting to know. I hadn't tried it out on Cammy or some really small to be fair. It's worked in matches against Alex, G and Ryu so far but the situation hasn't arisen against Cammy as of yet.
      I had another thought on the forward throw but it relies entirely on conditioning. Low step kick will be beaten by a jabs but if you have conditioned them to expect a button and they are now passive it is a good button to use a) Some people will attempt to back away because of the threat of the button, shimmy, throw scenario and it will catch them low putting you plus and right next to them or even score you a counter b) if it is blocked you are safe but minus. This might seem bad but if you have meter are you really minus here? The classic -2 trap: Will they respect you or will they take their turn and risk the ex-tiger uppercut to the face? I've found if you steal their turn a couple of times they respect you and it becomes your turn there anyway because of that fear.

    Revisiting SFV in anticipation for the update. All dps do the same damage but offer different invul uses. Why ever use fierce dp except for Vskill 1? I say this because I noticed jab dp puts them the furthest while fierce (with vskill 1) seems to send them off pretty well. Ex is also in general the better choice if available.

    • @TotalSagat
      @TotalSagat  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not a fan of if the opponent does X this works outside of backrise and quickrise, there's also some Meaty's where you can make EX knee plus, but it makes a difference if they are crouching or standing, so it's really not all that useful since you potentially put yourself in a mix up. Sagat's actually got quite a bit more than that's in here, but it's all sort of unreliable.

    Great guide, i've been waiting for this, thank you! But i believe there is a little mistake where you talk about DP antiairs. You say that MP.DP has air invincibility, but it's actually also LP.DP for Sagat. MP.DP is 3-7f invincible to all attacks and projectiles.

    Hi great videos. I'm trying to learn sagat and your content is really helpful.
    Re the different uppercuts though i hope you can help.
    In this video it says not to use hp dp, in your uppercut video though i think it says that hp dp does have invincibility against air attacks from frame 1. Did this change? If so which is right currently? Because hp dp can cover an area that lp dp can't. And kara hp dp can basically aa from half a screen away which is awesome.

    • @TotalSagat
      @TotalSagat  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @knife1406 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    great guide my man, only thing i do differently is on throw shimmies i use crmp instead or crmk cuz its a bit faster.
    also I always end in dp but maybe i should be doing into knee more huh, I dunno, i quite like the meaty high tiger shot.
    also I wanted to ask do you find yourself using crmk much? for me it jsust feels too slow and the range doesnt make up for it I just either opt in for crmp or crlk at those ranges.

    • @TotalSagat
      @TotalSagat  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah cr.mp is probably better. I do like cr.mk though since a lot of people walk back out of pressure. I mean it's not a great button, but it's not worthless.

    • @knife1406
      @knife1406 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      also the only thing i would say about hk into dp is Hdp is preferred because more range, its a tighter link but you can sometimes be pushed out of range where mdp will wiff, generally, if you get two hits of the sthk hdp will always connect, and sometimes will connect with just the one hit although you have to be pretty close. Seems like just something u want to get in habit of doing imo.

    Is it better to play sagat on pad or stick? getting a dp right consistently is a real struggle.

    • @TotalSagat
      @TotalSagat  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, honestly i'm not sure, I've played stick for 20 years. I think maybe Kara uppercuts would be easier on a stick. I guess technically the easiest would be a hit box, but not many people play on those.

  • @riguerraluisfernandoh.6415
    @riguerraluisfernandoh.6415 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a question about the shimmy do you always step back after the lp or mp? Also with the pause??

    • @TotalSagat
      @TotalSagat  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends the other character , if they have a large throw range ( Bison) you probably do need a slight step back. Otherwise you can to the "unmoving" shimmy where you just stay still. The pause is the space where you deliberately do nothing in order to get your opponent to commit to something, like a throw. Then you punish that. A good excerise in the training room is to get the opponent to do a throw or push jab in the "on block " settings, then experiment with different punishes.
