What's your favorite song/ album by Janet Jackson? Janet Jackson's influence is obvious throughout pop music: the way stars choreograph their videos, their vocal intonations, their visual presentation... But today, she's rarely considered at the level of her musical peers from the '80s and '90s, such as Prince, Madonna, and her brother Michael. And the moral uproar that followed her performance at the Super Bowl in 2004 showed all the ways popular culture can erase Black women and their accomplishments. Now, as society reconsiders the ways it has treated celebrities like Britney Spears, let's re-evaluate Janet Jackson's legacy and body of work.
A lot of people are going to say The Velvet Rope (rightfully so), but it will always be Rhythm Nation for me. Rhythm Nation is still iconic to this very day. The album is seen as a concept album (discussing race relations, love, heartbreak, etc) but what makes me love the album even more is the time when Janet is starting to come into her womanhood as a Black woman. Janet reaching her mid 20s, was starting to embrace her sexuality and she was being a little bit more showing in terms of appearances i.e the Love Will Never Do (Without You) video. That video alone was a precursor of her becoming a sex symbol to me. All in all, the RN album has one of her best music videos in her career, and furthering the New Jack Swing era.
super difficult to pick just one. i admire janet's catalog because depending on my current state in life, different albums resonant most. I would say now, All for You. The way she writes about love is so beautiful. Also, given the cultural context at the time of its release, a mid thirties black women having an optimistic and hopeful view on love especially after a damaging divorce (im sure we will get into this in her documentary) is quite inspiring. The song itself, "All for you" is the eptiome of POP. A perfect pop song. The whole album has a carpe diem vibe to it.
@@amanichabikuli7125 That's a very interesting idea! I don't talk too much about All for You in the video but it's true that her mood seems more positive than in The Velvet Rope. It's true that the range of emotions she can convey through her music and her overall versatility as a performer are definitely some of her main assets as an artist!
One thing I will always love about Janet is her individuality. Since she came from the musical dynasty that is the Jackson family, she always made sure not to ride the coattails of her brother Michael ever since he reached superstar status as a pop artist. She wanted her success to be based around her hard work and dedication, and not because she had an older brother who was breaking records and winning accolades left and right. Another thing to mention is that people don’t talk about how Janet can evolve with times. Janet Jackson could never be seen as a nostalgic act despite Nipplegate, because to me she wasn’t the one who followed trends. What makes her and Michael the top entertainers/artists ever is their way to be ahead of the game.
And imagine if the coca cola commercial happen back then to compete with mj Pepsi commercial but because of allegations of mj never happen and also sa superbowl what if all of that did not happen
@@Whitechapelchap it really was and no disrespect to any other entertainers, but I don’t think anyone else nailed it like Janet did. It was a totally different experience every time with no echoes of her previous works. She is the blueprint… greatest female entertainer hands down
Janet did an amazing job reinventing herself, but she only reinvented herself successfully for 5 albums from Control to All for you whereas Madonna did it successfully 12 times from her debut to Hard Candy/MDNA (mdna was a moderate hit) and has explored a much wider range of musical genres than Janet. Janet’s discography is a great history lesson in how rnb music has changed over the past 3 decades but Madonna covered Debut - true blue - 80's synth pop like a prayer - fusion of church music, acoustic and 80's pop Im breathless - 1930's jazz Erotica - mix of 90's house, porn soundtrack and jazz Bedtime stories - 90's rnb and house Evita - Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Ray of Light - 90's electronica and eastern music Music - Fusion of early 00's club music and acoustic/country American Life - Early 00's electronic music and folk Confessions - Edm and disco Hard Candy - 00's timbaland rnb MDNA - 2010's edm They are both in my top 5 favourite singers of all time but Madonna’s ability and success at reinvention has been much greater than Janet’s. I dont even think Michael Jackson's or prince's careers of reinvention have been as diverse and sucessful as madonna's (I'm not saying madge is better than them but just that her ability to reinvent is the best in music history, although maybe michael's would be just as good if he was able to release more than 6 albums in his adult career).
she never evolved. She just kept dancing in videos like it was still 1987 and so when J. Lo was created to nuke Mariah, Janet was the first casualty. Her talking like Minnie Mouse in interviews only made her downfall faster as Mariah strives to dethrone Madonna, who created Britney and Xtina to sink Mariah to oblivion, one flop to another.
even her influence on alternative RNB marvels me because even emerging acts today are impact by this inlfuence. kelela, one of my favourite artists, mentioned janet jackson's heavy influence on her "take me apart" album. arguably, one of the best albums of the 2010s.
@@malou1563 Rhythm Nation 1814 still today is the only album everrr with 7 top 5 singles, and makes Janet the only female pop artist everrr with a number one rock chart with Black cat !
Madonna sold more, but she as a white woman was expected to do so. People tend do discredit the weight of race and color when discussing pop music, especially during the 1980s. Janet is truly revolutionary.
Being a white woman in USA where whites are majority means that she had a much bigger competition than Janet, and yet she is way more relevant and successful than Janet. Janet actually had the advantage to sell more especially considering her last name is Jackson, her brother was the king of pop and the best selling artist of that time, but she just wasn't that good and her music aged horribly. Madonna is the one and only Queen of pop. Get over it.
The strongest of all the Jackson family. Never did anything to dishonor her family. Carried herself as a lady of self respect and didn't get caught up in "leaked sex tapes" or that WAP mess. Forgave LaToya Jackson for all the lies LaToya told about the family. Always supported Michael and never left his side throughout the false allegations and legal problems. Forged her own legacy on her terms and that alone says a lot.
Thank you for acknowledging Janet. Too many people have forgotten about her or do not know much about her. She had a prolific career especially in the 80s and 90s. Many artists after her copied her or were influenced by her but she is the original.
Janet was/is known for being HER. Not just riding her Mega star brother's coattail. And if you can come out of your brother's shadow like that, you have made it! I'm just happy she's getting her credit (no matter how late). The stans of people like Beyonce, Rihanna, Nicki, Ariana etc are always like they're the blueprint. Meanwhile, the women before that are like, "Been there, done that" from voice to performances. Janet, Mariah, Whitney, Aretha, Tina Turner, Madonna, MJ etc are the blueprints people. Y'all better learn to recognize and show respect.
I was always so weirded out the narrative that Janet as being in the shadow of her brother constantly pushed by mainstream media. I never saw this and I feel like most within the black community don’t either. I always saw this as just always a lazy way to reduce her legacy and impact. She is her brothers sister and they did influence EACH OTHER but I always saw them as completely different.
Well, everybody was in the shadow of MJ til the moment the media used false allegations to crucify him. And the same media used another false allegation/fake scandal to crucify Janet.
Same! I never thought of Janet as Michael little sister or associated with Michael! Janet was Janet and Michael was Michael, and they both made NOISE. Rhythm Nation influenced Michael big time for his dangerous tour era. You're right, the black community always acknowledged Janet as Janet.
Exactly....Janet knew this going in that she would be compared to Mike, and she worked hard to make sure she made her own lane, and in my opinion she did and worked hard to be the biggest female performer in history. Friendly competition between them, but totally two different entertainers, but GREATNESS In those Genes for sure, they both are equally impressive with their craft.
@@OctoberLibra1 the thing is that MJ is arguably the biggest recording artist in the history of popular music(only Elvis Presley and The Beatles can compete) there are plenty of female artist above Janet, like: Madonna, Withney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Britney Spears(she sucks but sold way more records than Janet), modern stars like Taylor Swift and Adele....
ALL OF THIS! I always paid attention to the choreographers. Even when I was a kid I was the one who knew the names of the choreographers and backup dancers.
Janet is my favorite artist of all times,She reinvents herself ,down through the years,Janet has a great influence on artists today especially the dance moves.❤
As a super Janet fan, I’ve also loved and admired her knack to switch it up w/ each era starting with Control. I can look at a picture of her and know exactly which album was out at that time.
Empress of music, everything she touches becomes gold. She is the alpha and the omega when it comes to the music industry. She created so much of what we call the music scene today.
Janet Jackson has Grammy Awards and Nominations in 5 music genres, POP, R&B, DANCE, HIP-HOP, and ROCK ( Her song Black Cat received a Grammy Nomination for Best Female Rock vocal performance) she wrote the lyrics and guitar riffs for the song. Janets Rhythm Nation Album was inducted into The National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress because of its socially conscious content. She also has had #1 albums in each of the last 4 decades. Janet is currently on The " Together Again " Tour in 2024 at 58 years old, which has been very successful with rave reviews by both fans and critics. In regard to Madonna, who is more of a prancer and using hand gestures than a true dancer. Janet is a phenomenal dancer , a Grammy nominated song writer, singer , television, and movie actress , spanning 51 years in entertainment. Most female artists have said in countless interviews that Janet was their inspiration to be in the industry .
I have loved her since the early 80's, and never would deny her influence on me as an artist, I'm in the hard Rock/metal genre but it was Ms Jackson not Michael not Madonna but Ms Jackson that taught me about hooks and lyrical content and the importance of what you say no longer Belongs to you but to those who are receiving the music. That's why you'll never hear a Rock act argue her place in the Rock and roll Hall of Fame like they have with another pop female act from Ms Jackson's time. She is the Blueprint! She's legend!!
That's very interesting! I knew she had influence on many different artists but I didn't know she was viewed highly even among Rock/Metal fans. Thank you for your comment!
@@daniellarkins3849 of course not, I'm talking about my experience and her impact on me personally, I know the impact that all three of them has had on popular culture, I can't take that away from any one of them.
@@jeremyallennossette6426 Thanks for responding. I guess I just took your comment a bit personal because those to MJ and Madonna worked hard and it sucks to sometimes run into people who want to strip them of their successes.
As of late, I've finally gotten into Janet's discography (up to "All For You" thus far). Being a 90s kid, I had totally forgotten about songs that were legit hits like "Got Til It's Gone" and "Doesn't Really Matter". She's a queen and I'm so glad we're giving her the flowers she most certainly deserves.
Absolutely agreed with the message of this video. Janet set the stage for our generational influences to date. Go Janet! She rocks!! One of my favorite artists of all time.
Everyone has their own opinion, and preference. But for me, although MJ is the undisputed King .. I prefer Janet over him as an artist. She felt in my opinion more versatile and with each album she would just get better. The shift from control to RN1814 to Janet and so on, is astonishing. MJ always stuck to his formula which of course worked for him. In other words janet took more risk. In my eyes she is the queen of pop.
@@nah....6151 Good thing it’s your opinion but most wouldn’t agree. MJ has a multitude of different hits that showcase his overall versatility ie Smooth Criminal, Dirty Diana, Earth Song and so forth. Janet is great but she’s not touching MJ vocally or as an overall artist.
i always rly connected w janets music but never totally understood why other the music itself being gorgeous and fun. thx for making this video. definitely makes me appreciate janet jackson’s impact on music and pop culture even more
Janet is the kind of success story that encourages me as a underground artist with a small following. Seeing how he’s developed his skills and slowly blown up after seizing each and every opportunity he’s been giving has been inspirational! Mans has quickly become a mainstay in the industry and for good reason. Dude is too nice! I know if I put in the work, I can reach a larger audience some day too, but for now, I’m happy being a supporter. My turn will come too. Salute to Janet🔥

Soz, stats and sales don’t lie, as much as I love Janet, Madonna has sold way more and made a greater cultural impact, even Michael at the height of his fame wanted to duet with her because he recognised she was the closest female artist who could rival his fame.
Sorry I don't understand videos like this. It's weird people and journalists are suddenly now pretending Janet was just sitting on her ass doing nothing these past 15 years to try to overvictimize her. Janet has been winning legend awards since 1999 and never stopped. The industry has always showered her with accolades, yes even in the 3 year period she was blacklisted (she was blackballed by MTV not the entire music industry as MTV got in trouble for the Superbowl incident).
Thank you for your comment. The intent of the video actually wasn't to discuss the wardrobe malfunction. I only used the event to frame the video essay (addressing it at the beginning and the end) but the essay was about her career and impact on the following generations of artists. Of course, Janet Jackson hasn't been "just sitting on her ass" over the past 15 years (I've mentioned that she kept releasing music after the wardrobe malfunction) but it's undeniable that she didn't enjoy the same level of success and exposure after 2004. She wasn't only blacklisted by MTV but by the entire ViacomCBS conglomerate as well as Clear Channel Communications, and Infinity Broadcasting, which are two of the largest radio broadcasters in the US. Also, as far as award shows are involved, if you take a look at the nominations she's received at the American Music Awards, the BET Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, and the MTV VMAs, she didn't receive a single nomination at any of these award shows between 2005 and 2015 even though she released 3 albums over that time period and I don't think it is a coincidence. The nipplegate remained a stain on her career and affected her during the years that followed. In any case, her documentary will soon be released so we'll get to discover what she thinks about all of that :)
She was blackballed from all Viacom platforms she was banned from the Grammys her statue at Disneyland was removed and she was boycotted on radio stations, Janets All For You album in 2001 was number 1 sold over 7 million copies and produced 2 number 1 singles, not to mention one of those singles was the longest number 1 single of 2001 staying at number 1 for 7 consecutive weeks then boom 2004 the Superbowl happens she gets blackballed and she cant even produce a top 10 hit and she had to cancel her tour, she never recovered after that no matter how hard she tried she didnt start winning legend awards again until 2015 when she stepped back in the spotlight and was honered by BET so no she wasnt Sitting on her ass but she DEFINITELY was a victim
@@emaniprince7203 Yes she was blackballed and the industry heads knew this...but Janet made it her business to keep focus and keep working. When they went after Janet it was because of her stance of supporting her brother, she's said this on three different occasions. It is apparent that she has other ventures behind the scenes because she's always done an album, promoted, toured and went into hiding for a few years and then come back so I'm sure she was working on other things outside of music. However, anyone saying she was not black balled or some people black balled and others didn't is a lie. When that Les Moonves went after her, he went after her Just like Gil Garcetti went after Mike during those child molestation charges, RELENTLESSLY. They both were going to make examples out of Mike and Janet....so his influence on ruining her career was SWIFT. Everyone was involved in trying to destroy her career...but by the grace of God and Janet's spirituality got her through those rough times, and even so they still go after her, case and point her BILLBOARD Performance, the camera man was all over the place instead of on the stage focused on Janet...so you didn't really get to see her, but more of the audience because that's where he was focused. Luckily and thank God, someone recorded the entire performance with no views of the audience, and put it on youtube and so what was shown on television diminished her performance and let people who saw it scratching their heads like she didn't do anything...but the recorded video that's on youtube gave a perfect view of why she is the greatest female entertaining in the world. So that in itself lets me know that they still want to ruin her, but Janet is a powerhouse, who doesn't give in or give up....That's why I love her.
@@nah....6151 Mariah had like 5 good years after 2004. Beautiful was almost a comeback but it failed. Will never understand what went wrong with her success
This is actually not true. CBS Les Moonves had Janet blackballed on TV and Radio. There was a detailed report of him even being upset at Janet being allowed to write a book. He was ultimately thrown out at CBS after it was revealed he had sexually assaulted people and what he had done to Janet by the Huffington Post and The New York Times.
Pretty good vid essay. Janet was also one of the consistent trailblazers for Black women being multipassionate with genres incl incorporating rock (yes of course Tina a generation b4, led this) - think "Black Cat". Can't pick a fav - too many!
To me...she was the female Pop/R&B Blueprint. I noticed a lot of people ignored the fact that you put in your title R&B. They were focused on the "pop" part. I think this is very important to mention and I don't think many people in the comments caught it. It is important to make the distinction because back in the day "pop" was associated with white audiences/a mainstream audience. It was rare for a black artist to become "pop". It also must be noted that "pop" is technically not a genre itself. It stands for popULAR. So, technically any song that became POPULAR is a pop song - whether it was country, rock, or jazz. So, again, back in the day, few black artists became popULAR. R&B was considered a black genre. Most black artists were automatically placed in the R&B category. Now, onto explaining Janet. People have to understand this is the world Janet came into. She started her music career in a world that very much tried to separate black music and mainstream music. It was assumed that black people listen to R&B and white people were pop and the two rarely mixed. You have to remember this was even before Thriller. So, Michael does his 5th solo album, "Off the Wall". "Off the Wall" became a huge hit for R&B - the black audience. White mainstream wasn't paying attention to his solo career yet. That's the part people leave out. Michael intentionally left R&B to do music that he knew would get the attention of the mainstream. He knew he needed a wider/more white audience. So...the rest is history with Thriller. Janet was in a unique situation as a black woman. Michael had to fight even as a black man for the mainstream radio/TV/media to pay attention to him when Thriller first came out. That's the story people like to leave out. Those of us old enough know the truth. He had to fight! They weren't trying to play MJ on the radio except the R&B stations. I think Janet's influence will make more sense in a year or two after this documentary. I think people will start making the connections. The issue for Janet is that her early career was so tied to her brothers. So...I think it was hard for her to be respected outside being the little sister of the Jackson 5 members. So, she had to fight past that. Then she had to fight past MJ's HUGE career the way it took off after Thriller. I think she was unfortunately always in the shadow of her brothers. I don't think people started to really pay attention to her away from them until the Janet album. Janet helped usher in the New Jack Swing sound...but nobody talks about that. This was a woman doing this kind of music that people were used to hearing from men. Nobody breaks those things down when it comes to her career. She was doing things men had been doing when it came to her performances. People don't talk about those things. I don't think she really had many women she could look up to that were performing in the way she wanted to. I would say the closest woman that performed that major dancing she did was Tina Turner. Most women weren't dancing like that before Tina or even after Tina... until Janet came along. Most women sang and did a little shimmy and that's about it. Tina Turner was in her own league in the early 1960s. Most of the women...especially black women were more like Diana Ross when it came to performing. Diana Ross was the standard back then for black women performers. So....to go from Diana Ross to what Janet was doing by the 1980s....that was HUGE. I don't think people truly understand how big of a deal that was. I think the young generation are so used to seeing the Rihannas and Beyonce's....they don't truly understand how much had to happen for us to get to a Janet-type performer. So with all of that being said... Yes...Janet was The Blueprint for women who were doing Pop/R&B (because Janet really did both). Madonna was pure pop and didn't have to jump through some of those hoops as a white woman. So, yes, Madonna was a bigger star sales-wise but that was to be expected of her. Even Whitney understood she had to sing certain songs to become popULAR! That's why it took a while for her to earn her stripes with the black community. For the black community - going mainstream was becoming less and less of an honor by the late 1980s. The irony is that it was the complete opposite in the 1960s and 1970s. But...that's a different discussion for another day.
Janet Jackson is the Queen of Pop! Her music, from the lyrics to the videos to the sounds, she bridged all different types of music into one sound. Plus, she is one of very few child actors who managed to transition to a hugely successful career as an adult.
The Groove I think Janet has the most impressive and well rounded music catalog of all of her peers and followers. She literally has done it all and really pushed multiple genres of music forward as a trendsetter

I love that video; it came out around the same time as madonna’s “cherish,” also in black-and-white, and I love that one too! Both videos and songs had such a fresh, should I say it? Clean and innocent sound and vision to them, like a spray of mouthwash after a pepperoni pizza lol.😅
I love both ladies but to magically pretend that Madonna was the only top music performer made me shake my head. A lot of younger folks seemed shocked that Janet was that big in the past. But she was and really set a standard!
Janet has been flyer than mj since 86. She knows it And he did too. Even though I literally grew up with penny, Charlene, Cleo and then best street, control, and then on, she was better after thriller. She also had control as her "thriller". Every song banged and most charted. It was perfect. Mike catapulted off of his brothers music and fame (look at timelines). Janet made it cause she was soooo fly.
Michael was the reason the whole family got signed and became famous. Please. Berry Gordy said that. He was NOT interested in ANY Jackson, except Michael.
Yikes, reading through the comments and never realized how many people actively try to discredit any achievement of Janet’s. It’s a shame everyone going back and forth in these comments
Janet, Madonna, Michael, Prince.. What a time in pop music. Funny how it's only Janet and Madonna left... Janet jackson and Madonna where equally the blueprint for all female artists in pop music today and over the last thirty years. They both have identical styles of music and have both played with different genres. And they can both dance the house down. To discredit one of them as better than the other due to skin colour has always been an issue with people. Sad but true
@@milesthehousecollection4153 A lot of people discredit Janet Jackson more than Madonna, and the motive behind this is RACISM! People said that she never crossed over to the mainstream or to the world, and they said that she’s only famous in the black community, and that is not true. To me, that’s racist. You can always know where racism comes to play the moment you said that two obviously looking black women like Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston are the Queens of Pop, they lose their shit and will be quick to say that white women like Madonna and Celine Dion and racially ambiguous white looking women like Mariah Carey are the Queens of Pop. They don’t want no black women to top white women. Racism is the main culprit for this.
Don’t forget, how many artists start off acting on tv, gain fans from that, and then move into music gain success by already having fans from their tv acting days. Penny to Janet: Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, etc…
I speak from an unbiased standpoint and wish that folks would just give these innovative, legendary, and iconic female artists their flowers without trying to discredit what they’ve individually contributed to the music industry. I personally feel that “queen of pop” is very subjective as this title isn’t solely based on albums sales. It’s the same as “queen of R&B” which is also subjective as artists like Mariah and Whitney would fall into that category along with Janet as they’ve all uniquely contributed to R&B music fused with pop and hip/hop. They’re all queens in their own right with unbroken records and musical impact, but this video was specifically about the highlights and accolades of Janet’s career. Even though it’s subjective, I feel that the “queen of r&b and pop” video title is a suiting description of Janet. Great video!
Janet is a top tier and a pioneer in the world of pop music and that has been proven time and time again. But let’s get some things straight and clear Madonna is as influential if not more so influential in the Music industry. Let’s not act like Madonna was not battling the big names in the 80s such as Bruce Springfield, Prince and Mj at their and also held her own and in many cases surpassed them. On top of that she changed the idea of what a concert could and should look like and was very successful with it for 3 decades selling out Stadiums. In the year 1992 Madonna released Erotica and foreshadowed and opened the door for women to be explicit and owning their sexuality without the approval of Men. These are just a small amount of ways of how Madonna also. Does she dance like Janet No but then again her music does not call for it. What I can say for Madge is she can write her ass off and is also a genius when it comes to the visual arts aspect. Let’s not write off Madonna just because it’s popular to do so the ladies records and relevance speaks for itself just like it does for Janet
Thank you for your comment. My intent was not in any way to dismiss Madonna's impact and legacy or to claim that she did not deserve the title of Queen of Pop but instead to argue that Janet is the Queen of Pop AND R&B given how she's impacted those two genres.
Absolutely. Madonna blew the doors off the music industry totally trailblazing the way women would from then on tap into their sexual personas via performance and lyrics unapologetically. She was the bold one, and I remember people trying to call her a sl"t and wh*"e whole giving Prince a pass for the exact same. She was a powerhouse and still is!

What makes her and Michael the top entertainers/artists ever is their way to be ahead of the game.
I couldn't have said it better myself :)
And imagine if the coca cola commercial happen back then to compete with mj Pepsi commercial but because of allegations of mj never happen and also sa superbowl what if all of that did not happen
Janet is one of the very few superstars that started out huge being 100 percent authentic. That’s rare af.
The way she consistently reinvented herself is unmatched… She is the blueprint
Now that is a fact. Each time she came out, there was a whole new aesthetic with her look and videos, and it was always electric.

Janet’s discography is a great history lesson in how rnb music has changed over the past 3 decades but Madonna covered
Debut - true blue - 80's synth pop
like a prayer - fusion of church music, acoustic and 80's pop
Im breathless - 1930's jazz
Erotica - mix of 90's house, porn soundtrack and jazz
Bedtime stories - 90's rnb and house
Evita - Andrew Lloyd Webber musical
Ray of Light - 90's electronica and eastern music
Music - Fusion of early 00's club music and acoustic/country
American Life - Early 00's electronic music and folk
Confessions - Edm and disco
Hard Candy - 00's timbaland rnb
MDNA - 2010's edm
They are both in my top 5 favourite singers of all time but Madonna’s ability and success at reinvention has been much greater than Janet’s.
Janet Jackson is not appreciated enough for her career. Her influence in the music industry cant be matched.

she never evolved.

@@chanelnorth1785 she was important to the black community, for everyone else she was MJ's little sister.

You are absolutely correct about all of this

Great video!
listen baby, this video was soooo good. the breakdown was very easy to follow.. i love me some ms jackson!!!!
Even though she was Born in to a Magnificent Astonishing Amazing Music Ledgend Icon Dynasty 🌹🔥🌹. She earn in her own right to be Respected as one of the Greatest Female Recording Artist ever 🤍🌹🔥👑🤍🌹🤗
favorite album: Janet
favorite song: come back to me
i can see and hear clearly now. thank u janet
Janet is the queen of pop and the queen of the industry and the greatest female performer of all time. Period. . She's better than the ones came before her and the ones came after her
I wholeheartedly agree!
There's nothing wrong with giving props and this is such a reach
@@wilsondwight7817 why u feel it's a reach
@@ladymarie3357 Undermining all the women who came before her (Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Donna Summer...) and the ones that came after her (Britney, Beyoncé, JLo, Aaliyah, Ciara....). It's just NOT it. TF. There's room for all them. They all deserve their flowers but we don't need put them down to uplift Janet. Especially Tina Turner and Beyoncé when it comes to iconic black female performers
She is in every since of the word. BLUEPRINT!♥️
They robbed us of 17 years of joy, good music etc... They tried to destroy janet's career, but with God's help and like a good phoenix, janet is slowly returning to the place she belongs. Generations lost with her departure from the industry. No matter how much she lost financially.
Velvet Rope album. Song “ Spending time with you “ from Damita Jo album
