As a little girl, the Janet Jackson was one of the first albums I purchased. Years later I purchased Janet. That will always be my favorite album. Rhythm Nation 1814 would probably be a close second from her albums. The Pleasure Principle, Funny How Time Flies, Let’s Wait a While are probably my favorite from the Control Album.
I got the opportunity to see Janet live too! Man, was it crazy. The mic was on, and the production was excellent. Shout out to Jimmy and Terry, though. Them outtakes made the records sound better. Every artist deserves a team like this around them.. I will give it to control, it is a timeless record.
Oh my gosh! Do Rhythm Nation next! I love the details you put in this mini documentary Control is such an iconic blueprint album Janet really is the artist of ERAS ALBUM … each album she does is uniquely different with its own theme Love Janet 😍 saw her recently at MSG! Together Again your
I love the Control album. It's her declaration of independence album from her family. My favorite songs on this album are in the order of Control, The Pleasure Principle, What Have You Done For Me Lately, Nasty, Let's Wait Awhile, Funny How Time Flies When You're Having Fun, When I Think Of You, He Doesn't Even Know That I'm Alive and You Can Be Mine. This is my favorite Janet Jackson album because of the boldness of the messages and styles of the music in the album. The 2nd favorite Janet Jackson album is Rhythm Nation 1814. Other albums that have changed the culture for me are True Blue and Like A Virgin in addition to Like A Virgin by Madonna. I know that you focus on black artists but can you do a video on Madonna's eras and her impact on music and the culture please?
That’s a really good idea. I am a Madonna stan so a video about her will definitely be coming. I briefly touched on her Ray of Light era in my hiatus video too. Thank you for watching!
@@ashleykaira I see a lot of similarities between Janet and Madonna. They both came from the Midwest, a large family and they had controlling and strict fathers. The differences between them are that Janet's the youngest of the children and Madonna's the 3rd child of 8 siblings and the oldest daughter of the sisters. And Madonna was the first in the family to go to college but dropped out and the only one who became an international pop star and cultural icon among other things. I love both of them but l haven't been following Janet's music career for her since Damita Jo or Discipline album. As for Madonna I have been liking less and less of her music for the last 3 albums. I like a handful of songs from MDNA and Rebel Heart each. I only like a 2 songs from Madame X: Come Alive and Faz Gostoso. I a ticket for the January 15th 2024 SF show for Madonna's Celebration Tour. I'm gonna try to get a ticket for Janet's Together Again Tour in Mountain View, CA. If you go to any of their shows it would be great if you made a video about your experience of the show/s.
Great video! Janet set the bar and inspired many other artists to come. I was fortunate to attend her very first concert in Miami. It was ALL that and left us in awe of her sheer talent. "Control" has sold over 100 million copies to date, WORLDWIDE. Other countries adored her and supported her faithfully.
Janet ‘s contol had so much impact because of production and entertainment.janet ushered in the beginning of female dance videos .we had many great artist with dance songs but they were giving model poses in the videos .janet came in with production concepts and so much energy .what really set the world ablaze pleasure principle that video had everybody on notice that a new queen was in town ready 2 take the throne
1000% this album and truly just her presence in the industry was a huge cultural shift from the messaging, visuals, concepts, choreography. I think she deserves even more flowers than she gets.
What have you done for me lately is my favorite song from the Control album because the beat, bass and lead melody was perfection and it spoke to where I was at the time I heard it. A true icon, Janet is!
🇿🇦 My favourite Janet Jackson album is "All For You". I will say though that "The Velvet Rope" has a special place because it marked her first ever tour in 🇿🇦South Africa in 1998 and she also met our then president the late Nelson Mandela shortly after Michael Jackson did during his "History" tour 👍🏾💯 I digress. Now to the topic 🤣 My there favourite songs from Control are: Let's Wait Awhile He Doesn't Know That I'm Alive When I Think of You
Janet is not only a legend but an icon that continues to influence generations of artists and I feel like Michaels thriller album has also had a huge impact it’s literally the biggest selling album of all time

Shout out to Paula Abdul who was also resposible for the Choreography on this Album which also helped lauch Janet's Carrer at the time. Thanks Paula!!!
Paula didn't help launch Janet's career, Janet chose Paula who was a Laker cheerleader and dating her brother Jackie at the time. Janet actually launched Paula's career. Paula only helped with the choreography which all entertainers employ to get ideas for routines , Paula only choreographed 3 video's from the album.

@@mannydem1 Yes, you are correct ,there were 4 videos. HOWEVER , if Janet had not HIRED Paula for the job she would have remained a Laker Cheerleader during that time . Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis did help take her singing career to another level but Janet started her career at age 7 dancing and singing with her siblings in Las Vegas as well as her acting career at age 11. I have followed her career since the 70's .

Control by Janet was the beginning of a legendary career. Control, RN1814, janet., TVR, and AFY was a crazy five album run 😮💨.
Truly an incredible run!
I was 17 when Control was released. It took her career beyond the next level and she became the blueprint!
