Unfortunately people like to compare black women and act as if there can only be one big female rapper when there was always place for all. And nicki fell into the trap of clapping back to the haters and industry plants created to take her place. I don't like some of Nick's more recent antics but no doubt she's a trend setter and one of the most talented rappers (male or female) and got unwarrant hatred by the industry and haters in general.
They saw Beyoncé and Rihanna take hate and never clap back, so they thought nicki would do the same. And when she didn’t, they didn’t like it. People don’t like when these artists stand up for themselves. Especially the black woman.
One thing to note - female rap was more collaborative in the 90s. We had tracks like Ladies Night where artists came together to shine and each had their own lane. Nicki's dominance and monopoly was in part to her mainstream media and pop crossover success; the fact that mainstream media outlets pushed the narrative that there could be only one black female hip hop artist with such prominence.
Yeah but why was foxy brown excluded from the ladies night song? Lol please, the 90s were so clicky 😹. Lil Kim only collaborated with her tomboy, non-threatening close friends
@@ajat3202 They were also not her "competition" because they looked, rapped, and dressed like lesbians/man, her "competition" was Foxy who was as s**ually charged and fem as her 🥱
Bouncyshak… you do know that Lik Kim sent shooters after foxy brown during their beef, right! Don’t make it seem like it was all kumbaya! It’s human nature to be competitive, as far as you’re not killing anyone for it.
The craziest thing about nicki minaj to me. Is that people claim she sells sex in her music when in reality her biggest album sales wise, her debut didn’t have a single sex song. If anything she’s a true braggadocio rapper in female form. She has a few sexual songs but compared to her entire discography it’s such a minority. Another thing I’ve noticed, a lot of people discredit her simply because she is a feminine rapper. If you rap her lyrics of songs without people knowing it’s Nicki Minaj they praise it but, in public and knowing it’s her they trash it. Or her use of feminine beats and voices they completely skip over the lyricism. Sexism in hip hop is a thing you don’t get credit unless you’re hyper masculine or in super close proximity to a male great.
Thank you for this! It never was and still to this day, Nicki being on the wrong side. Hip-Hop culture and the industry was mad a black woman dominated the game and was able to amass quick success, diversity, and longevity 🙌🏾
Even though I’m not a fan of her, I do have to put some respect on her name though, if it weren’t for her, we wouldn’t have Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, or any of today’s female rappers, she pave the way for everyone.

I really enjoyed this ☺ Nicki is definitely a icon and a trendsetter. I do think the females in the industry are jealous. Nicki has reached heights that other female rappers haven't. I think that makes people mad 😠 to the point that they lie and spread negativity. Nicki has always been a person who spoke up for herself. She will never really get the respect she deserves. She is a true Queen ❤️ sometimes being the leader means you will be the example of how to do it.
Just to correct you, at the 2012 GRammys she wasn't playing a woman but her alter ego Roman, a gay man who basically is "Nicki's Slim Shady" (Roman and Slim have a song together btw, it's "Roman's Revenge) Voilà
Aww always love your videos! I'm getting a little emo watching this. She deserves MORE videos like this. No she has not been perfect, no she is not the first to do certain things, and female rappers where a thing LONG before her. But for some people to pretend like the only female rappers that matter are from the 90's or early 00's and too discount what Nicki has done is disrespectful.
CORRECTION: she played 'Roman' on her grammy performance and Roman is a gay guy, not a woman. The whole concept of the performance was about church trying to "pray the gay away".
Nicki Minaj is the queen of rap! Like yes these other female rappers are great but they do not have the diversity nicki has. She is always changing it up with her flows, beats, and notes!
I think with Nicki, I have to approach her with a “yes and…” mentality. Yes, she is a pioneer, she is iconic, there are countless receipts for the many records she has set, she is (to an extent) a target of Americas anti-blackness AND she has not (always) played nice with the other rap girlies, has supported many questionable men, has had a few bad takes throughout the years. When I look at it like this, I can definitely humanize her in my mind. I do understand that as a public figure there is more responsibility to be held on Nicki’s part, but the politics of the music industry or the academy can definitely add a new level of difficulty to it.
What questionable man has she supported? What bad take has she had? Yall really be making up crap to support your lies about her. If you dont like her fine then just say that. Instead of making up false lies and accusations about her. Its sad what yall will do and say just to diminish what this women has done.
Hasn’t played nice with rap girlies yet she has a song with all these main rap girls??. This bitter, stopping the bag narrative has never been true. She always gave props to the earlier rap women who paved the way and worked with cardi and shouted out when she got her first no 1. Publicly congratulated Doja for getting a grammy and gave her first #1. Gave Megan her break into her mainstream career and for many more upcoming rappers such as bia, coi etc. But she’s somehow the bitter one when she claps back at these opportunistic women who used her to succeed in their careers. Interesting
@@yourmomschesthair8233 what questionable men? 🤔 Ummm her husband?! Her brother?! Tekashi 6ix9ine. I mean, she has been involved with and defended a lot of alleged sex offenders.
@@yourmomschesthair8233 Y’all are really gassing the situation with her doing those tracks with Megan and Cardi. If y’all can’t see how that was mutually beneficial on both occasions, then y’all are in crazy denial that Nicki’s popularity was declining and she was getting a bad rep for having a 10-year rap career before collaborating with other female rappers (esp skilled ones). Working with Cardi helped her re-establish herself during a long time of no albums when Cardi was shaking the charts with a no. 1 - a feat Nicki herself didn’t do yet - and also was a way to show she can work with women. Kinda got ruined bc then it got exposed that she actually didn’t like Cardi (which I get, bc she writes her raps and it’s def bs for someone else to get put on her level without writing). Megan Thee Stallion did NOT - I repeat did NOT - NEED Nicki on that song at all. It certainly helped to get her song on the chart and it was a great look to get a co-sign from Nicki but again, y’all ain’t looking at what the time period was. Megan already got on the Billboard BEFORE that song and she was already making buzz and making moves. Her hustle was reminding me of how Nicki Minaj USED to be. Nicki knew this girl was gonna rise up so she hopped on the track. It was once again, a way to recover from the Cardi situation (which again made ppl think she doesn’t like other rap girls) and prove she can work with women, and reintroduce herself to a crowd of younger fanbase. I mean, Nicki ain’t old, but Megan is literally about 15 years younger. Come on y’all. We gotta be honest about motivations.
I like this video. You talked about all the negatives. But I could barely hear you. I don't know if it's problem from my phone but I had to use my earphone and had my volume up before I could hear the sound. But good video and keep on with your good work.
Taylor has crossed two black icon women people don’t see a pattern Beyoncé and nicki whole discography is more meaningful and has more longevity than Taylor but Taylor always somehow get the accolades they are supposed to win
This was a very well made video. Wow! Nicki is viciously underrated, while at the same time still being considered an icon and living legend with 15 years in the game.
Your timeline is not correct though. Nicki didn’t delegitimise her until AFTER. She attacked her at fashion week. (Cardi is on record saying how much she likes to fight) but you missed that as well as the fashion week situation. AND it has been proven time and time again that CBs writing contribution to her debut album are due to Pardison. Part of her pink print is writing. Which is why so many fizzle out. (That and crap record deals) if you’re just speaking what someone else has written how can you be considered a rapper? Isnt that just a Cabaret performer with a record deal?
Here's the thing, today's technology and social media platforms (ie TH-cam) have made it not only easy but ALMOST NECESSARY for rap music to be interchangeable with pop and hip hop. I mean, EVERYTHING EVOLVES and if haters and misogynist MUST hate and place blame, make sure you are not leaving out any demons like the industry itself, radio saturation, etc. I personally feel like the industry, today's most popular female rap artists, the whole popularized pole niche, twerking and big booty niche that is now ubiquitous globally, from American tweens to Jamaica Queens to every fake music awards CEO in between, should ALL be kissing Nikki big creative ass since she popularized an entire multi billion dollar booty empire that everybody can get rich off, but she still taking these racial hits from. I mean IT'S OBVIOUS! I love Taylor swift but the song she won an award for I NEVER HEARD UNTIL THAT NIGHT! MEANWHILE, I been jamming all year long to Nikki. LETS GO!!!
People had the nerve to come at Nicki for going hard for her career, but she had to, since everybody was so willing to slight her while propping up other mediocre people. Nicki writes her raps and takes her craft seriously, but gets compared to Lil Kim just because of clothes and wigs, cause their music definitely sounds nothing alike. Nicki even gets compared to mediocre newbies that came after her that are nowhere near being on her level and the new girls are basically free to not write their raps, but when Safaree was lying about writing for Nicki, everybody ate that up quickly to discredit Nicki. Nicki got blackballed by the Grammys for a fake exorcism, yet Gaga got praised for fake blood and hanging herself as a sacrifice. Make it make sense. Nicki got bashed for Anaconda's vulgarity, calling it "softcore porn", but Megan and Cardi got way more people excusing their raunchy WAP video as being "empowering for women" and "liberating". Pink Friday broke records for female rappers, being the first #1 album in 11 years since Foxy's 1999 album, having debuted with 375K pure sales (the second highest debut week sales for a female rapper after Lauryn's 425K), having sold 1.93M copies in under 1 year, having charted for almost 80 weeks on Billboard, having been the first ever female rap album with 7 singles simultaneously on Billboard, having spawned a now Diamond certified song (Super Bass, which came out in 2011 and went 8x Platinum by 2013, just 2 years, now having sold over 25M copies worldwide, the highest selling song by a female MC), yet Pink Friday got snubbed and so did Nicki for Best New Artist for Bon Iver, who's irrelevant AF. Nicki has faced so many biases, double standards and mass hate, yet she still rose above it all, which is probably why she's now sitting on her third number one single, which makes her the first female MC since Lauryn to debut at #1 with a solo song.
It’s probably because Lady Gaga’s performances were actually good performances…. Love Nicki but performing is not her strong suit. So it becomes confusing and offensive. I love how much of a trailblazer she is though. She has done A LOT for female rap. Rap in general… bars unmatched and beauty too!
that was NOT a shade towards IGGY I repeat that was NOT A SHADE TOWARDS IGGY. that was directed to SAFAREE, her ex who was claiming that he wrote raps for her. I REPEAT, THAT WAS NOT A SHADE TOWARDS IGGY.
Of course Nicki is a pioneer but it’s not us who need convincing, it’s her. Opening doors, breaking down barriers & creating a better working environment for future generations is a good thing isn’t it? Yet time after time Nicki has let herself become consumed by this “well if I had it bad than so should they” mentality. It’s the same mentality we see in boomers who rally against student loan forgiveness lol like what’s the point of any of this if we’re just gonna continue the struggle cycle? What’s anyone fighting for? Why do we want young people to carry our pain? And I know it sucks but being a pioneer is a thankless job & if she keeps waiting on every new girl to bow down & kiss the ring, she’s gonna be waiting a long time. Don’t even start me on her Twitter antics either lol everyday is scorched earth day over there. And over what? Industry shit? Nobody cares about industry shit. She needs to learn to be comfortable with herself because she’s very obviously struggling with that.

Did you hear Lil Kim and Others talking about the ladies night remake with the new female rappers ?
Yeah but why was foxy brown excluded from the ladies night song? Lol please, the 90s were so clicky 😹. Lil Kim only collaborated with her tomboy, non-threatening close friends
@@AG-fg1uk missy, Lisa left eye, and Queen Latifa, & da brat were good rappers tho
Thanks for honouring her career in this video! It has been made beautifully, reminding me why my teen self loved this queen at the first place💕
She is an Icon and her name will live on.
Love her or hate her you can’t deny that Nicki is a trailblazer
I love Nicki Minaj 💯🔥✅
Thank you for this! It never was and still to this day, Nicki being on the wrong side. Hip-Hop culture and the industry was mad a black woman dominated the game and was able to amass quick success, diversity, and longevity 🙌🏾
its all racism
Correct
Yupppp! They’re ALWAYS mad that a Black Woman can do it better than a BM, WM, or WW (especially this).
Nicki Minaj is the Queen of Rap no doubt
She's a powerful woman . can't be intimidated or push around.
Even though I’m not a fan of her, I do have to put some respect on her name though, if it weren’t for her, we wouldn’t have Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, or any of today’s female rappers, she pave the way for everyone.
Nicki is so Advanced at her time, the industry is just starting and lagging for her thats why. But look at these female who fast paced thier career, i think getting jailed. Chiiii 13 years still dominating. Periodt
The way this man says “genre” always gets me!!!
Nicki minaj is the Queen of rap i love Her so much go stream super freaky girls on all plateforme please 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Correct
nicki minaj is hands down the best rapper of our generation 🙌🏼
I love your vid. I watched till the end. Thank you for acknowledging the Queen ♾
Very well said, that's why Nicki doesn't even need a grammy. She is the prototype. She is the original. And she is one and only.
Love this video thank you for posting. Nicki is the queen!
Just to correct you, at the 2012 GRammys she wasn't playing a woman but her alter ego Roman, a gay man who basically is "Nicki's Slim Shady" (Roman and Slim have a song together btw, it's "Roman's Revenge)
Voilà
Aww always love your videos! I'm getting a little emo watching this. She deserves MORE videos like this. No she has not been perfect, no she is not the first to do certain things, and female rappers where a thing LONG before her. But for some people to pretend like the only female rappers that matter are from the 90's or early 00's and too discount what Nicki has done is disrespectful.
You left out Motor sport and how Nicki had no issue until Cardi went around saying there was beef first
Sidenote: "Yikes" is such a good track from her.
I had to come back and visit this video again. Her talent is undeniable!
When she cutely lifted her leg up like a 1 and it looked like she was L for Legend 🤩 @0.51
Nicki paved the way just for the industry to try and disrespect her smh.
Doja cat and Lauryn hill are right there
One of a kind and that’s why they can’t take her. Periodt
No one wants garbage
Soo she’s has ALWAYS thanked women in rap who paved the way
I'm not a huge fan of ms nicki. But this is why I have a big respect to her
U earned your self a subscriber with this video 😣❤
This is why i love Nicki the same way i love Gaga, they're so theatrical, the characters, the personas... Ugh their minds ❤️
Great video!
@@PrimeEvans her husband and her brother don't be that dumb
We gotta be honest about motivations.
she is an icon undisputed
I like this video. You talked about all the negatives. But I could barely hear you. I don't know if it's problem from my phone but I had to use my earphone and had my volume up before I could hear the sound. But good video and keep on with your good work.
Very well done video 👏
Nice video. Please speak up a little louder in these videos though. I had turn my tv volume up really high.
Missing a lot of information especially with the Grammy situation.
Nicki is the queen of rap unlike payola b and flopy thee horse.
I have always thought that Nicki was trolling Miley, and Miley took it seriously 🤣🤣
Nicki Minaj is still outselling these new Female Rappers
Excellent video!👑❤️🔥👑❤️🔥
Wow such great video
Now THAT is a gripping title!
Nicki. That's it.
Nicki Minaj will forever be the greatest female rapper to have ever lived because of her contributions to HipHop!
Ummmmm no. You must be very young. Please don’t disrespect female rappers who helped Nicki become who she is. Lil Kim is still considered the greatest
THIS CHANNEL NEVER MISSES 🤌🏽💋
@2:39... see...
@2:55 Stellar Album from a *Stellar* Woman! *Ms. Hill!*
FANTASTIC DOCUMENTARY
Nicki still has a monopoly on the game tf... these girls ain't even selling 😂
Nicki is a serious legend 👑🏆🦄
I thank remy for writing shether so we could have no frauds cus Nicki ate her up to the point everyone forgot about her and her trash diss track🤣🤣🤣
Great video 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Taylor has crossed two black icon women people don’t see a pattern Beyoncé and nicki whole discography is more meaningful and has more longevity than Taylor but Taylor always somehow get the accolades they are supposed to win
I love Nicki so so much, but the Hollyweird full of narc and demons
Nice video! Thank you.
I never realized this until now that her Grammy performance was a pretty clear copy of Lady Gaga’s VMAS performance from a few years prior
P
This was a very well made video. Wow! Nicki is viciously underrated, while at the same time still being considered an icon and living legend with 15 years in the game.
“They'll never thank me for opening doors. But they ain't even thank Jesus when he died on the cross”
Great video :)
Well said
Watch that YT video: the non-existent feud between Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea"
She thanked Deb 😊
Your timeline is not correct though.
Nicki didn’t delegitimise her until AFTER. She attacked her at fashion week. (Cardi is on record saying how much she likes to fight) but you missed that as well as the fashion week situation.
AND it has been proven time and time again that CBs writing contribution to her debut album are due to Pardison. Part of her pink print is writing. Which is why so many fizzle out. (That and crap record deals) if you’re just speaking what someone else has written how can you be considered a rapper? Isnt that just a Cabaret performer with a record deal?
If I was emotional today , this prolly would've made me cry 😂😂😂
Bravo.. Amazing Video...
LETS GO!!!
Thank you for saying Michael Jackson’s, name, before saying, MTV Vanguard Award.
"The Revolutionary Never Benefits From The Revolution"
Ricky Martin so casual

It’s probably because Lady Gaga’s performances were actually good performances…. Love Nicki but performing is not her strong suit. So it becomes confusing and offensive. I love how much of a trailblazer she is though. She has done A LOT for female rap. Rap in general… bars unmatched and beauty too!
Why do we have to vs Nicki minaj with other female?? Stop comparing
In the name of Roman , barbie and Onika we pray
that was NOT a shade towards IGGY I repeat that was NOT A SHADE TOWARDS IGGY.
that was directed to SAFAREE, her ex who was claiming that he wrote raps for her. I REPEAT, THAT WAS NOT A SHADE TOWARDS IGGY.
Cardi B’s hype was short lived.
Pioneer?!? 🤭 This woman is the original industry plant. She cut deals with Fendi and Dirty Money and urban content makers from the mid 2000's like Sub Zero DVD and other PAYOLA services Young Money was able to keep paying for until she got her foot in. She took over from there and had been paying blogs and her street team to keep her image relevant.
"she cut deals woth fendi and young money"
Loves thats called a record deal
I wouldn’t say Pioneer but definitely filled a void for awhile
@@jeo5198 Exactly 😏 The word "Record" wasnt included because I wasn't talking about anything pertaining to a recording contract. 🤭 Please stay in school! 😎👍
@@bloop8051 That's fair but it still wasn't an organic process once Drake's deals were out in the open and we saw how these people got relevant and known we found out they came in the game with the financial backing. This is not a pioneer story it's a Payola fame scheme. 😏🤭
Meanwhile, who tf is remy ma?
Lady Gaga’s performance was ALSO disrespectful to Christianity.
