This will be my second recipe to try! The blueberry pie was excellent! Bought 6” pans to make the apple cake. Cooked professionally for 10 years. You are an inspiration to enjoy ☺️
I made this - DELICIOUS. I'm hooked on your channel. This is the second cake I made watching your video. Your cakes are not yucky sweet - Perfect. Thanks for the wonderful videos and recipes
Yay! I made this today and it came out so yummy 👍 instead of sour cream I used lemon Greek yogurt (because that’s all I had without going to the store lol) and it came out so lemoney with still moisture and delish😆 I love your vids and found myself in the kitchen baking more 😊♥️
Made this last night. Sooo good. That lavender really amped up the flavo r. I used 1/2 cup milk for the infusion. I also used 1.5 stick of butter (3/4 cup). The hard part was zesting the lemons but it was all worth it.
Hi guys, I made this cake and followed it to the T. It was absolutely delicious. I make a lot of his recipes coz I trust him blindly now and keep recommending him as my go to chef.
Just made this with a bunch of Meyer lemons and it is divine! That little bit of lavender really does something special, so unexpected but subtle. I've tried so many of your recipes, but this video is one of the older ones...it's so cool to see your evolution and all of your success! Thanks for sharing your passions ✨
love the way you put the measuremeants on the bottom of your videos and two different types of measurements it really helps us australians!! your cooking is amazing, made a cake for my mums birthday following your recepie and it turned out beautiful
I made this yesterday and it was scrumptious!! I did leave out the lavender because while I do enjoy the scent of it, I am not a fan of the taste of it. This is so easy to make and soooo yummy! Thanks for a great recipe John! :)
Amazing! You just got a new fan! I love how you have the measurements in grams as well , rather than just cups. I live in Asia so the conversion is very much appreciated. Will be perfect if you can include the temperature in degrees Celsius in your future videos. Thank you again ! Cheers! Justin
John must spend a lot of time in the gym. He should be 500lbs from taste-testing all of his awesome recipes. :-) Great work! I thoroughly enjoy every tutorial.
Thank you for a great sounding, and looking, recipe, - and so simple too (less than three and half minutes to make! I know it will take longer in real time but even so it must be one of your shortest films)! Do you know if Himalayan salt makes a good substitute for kosha salt? Kosha salt is not available here in the Swedish countryside - though oddly Himalayan salt is! All the best!
I have made many of your recipes and never have a problem. But as tasty as this was my husband and I called it a lemony jell cake. Not sure what went wrong. Too much liquid? 🤷♀️ have to try it again.
P.S. If I use mini loaf pans 6"x3", how long would you bake them for? And would I have to completely line my pans with parchment paper? Thanks so much!
wow, no mixer! I tried making another lemon poppy seed cake recipe and it came out dense and heavy. I'm using a new mixer and thought maybe the paddle attachment was the wrong tool to use as it doesn't really whip but you did it by hand and it turned out fine. Maybe hand power is better than electric power ;-)
I tried this recipe but my cake turned out too moist and dense... how do i fix it? I looked it up on google and it said it is because there's too much fat or liquid
I have tried making this recipe several times and it always turns out wet and under inside. It taste and smells wonderful but I really don’t know what is wrong. Can anyone advice? I followed the recipe exactly and I have increased the bake time to 90mins. Please help!
Hello thanks for the recipe! I have made this 3 times and I don’t know why the last two just came out really wet! Any tip to save us :( I really hope to master this pound cake. The only difference is I only reduced the sugar to 1 cup.
I just made this cake and the recipe is in many ways off. Too much sugar and too much wet ingredients resulted in zero crumb structure. The finished cake had the consistency of a brick-shaped fudge. Also, to give the estimated baking time a 30 minute window makes me wonder how well this recipe was tested before publication.
Hi! I tried making this cake! Twice! :) Tastes really nice but for both times, the cake came out undercooked at the bottom of the cake. Would you have any advice? :) Also I noticed your cup and grams measurements doesn't really measure out for me. For eg: when i measured out 1 2/3 cup sugar, it weighted around 250g (instead of your listed 379g)..is that normal? Thanks for sharing your recipes! will try one of our cupcakes ones soon!
I went to the full recipe link and there it says 3/4 cup butter is 190 g and made it with 190g butter and I though that was a little too greasy… and here in the video, it says 3/4 cup butter 175g… please fix that so other people will know. ..
Hiii.. your lemon poppy seed cake looks awesome. I want to try it. But from this part of india i am staying, i dont get lavender. What can i substitute i stead
What a coincidence, I was hoping for the same thing. It's my favourite and the only bakery here that sells this is very expensive. There's a recipe for Orange Pound Cake on his website that uses the same ingredients, that could work, just add the poppyseed. I might try this tomorrow 😊
I tried doing this and the recipe is a BIG FAIL. I followed all the measurements in metric and the cake ended up completely wet inside despite baking for 1.5hrs at 180c and almost looking burnt.
I think it’s because in his older videos he got more to the point and talked to the cameras less, he started talking more throughout the recipe only recently

Just made this tonight sooo good. I didn’t use lavender and I added raspberries to the batter!
I made this yesterday and it was scrumptious!! I did leave out the lavender because while I do enjoy the scent of it, I am not a fan of the taste of it. This is so easy to make and soooo yummy! Thanks for a great recipe John! :)
I’m def trying this recipe. I never line my bread pans but I did notice less caramelization. Thanks for the tip.
John, Thank For The Great Recipe
I made this tonight and it came out delicious. Thank you.
Made this and it came out great! Will be keeping this one. Thanks so much for sharing.

Manicotti with cream chicken and artichokes would go great with this... huckleberry marmalade on the side
John I'm so happy I found your channel. Your cakes look amazing. You've inspired me to start baking again.
Love al your recipes ❤️ do you have a lemon rosemary olive oil cake recipe please please please share
Where's the huckleberry marmalade?
MANICOTTI WITH CREAM CHICKEN AND ARTICHOKES!!!
LEMON POPPY SEED POUND CAKE WITH HUCKLEBERRY MARMALADE!!!
Can we get an updated version of this recipe @preppykitchen
Now just add the huckleberry marmalade
Will Earl Grey tea work as a replacement for the lavender?
No
I don't see why not. Earl grey and lemon go great together. Try it!
I am SO making this - love your offhand style :)
Hello from Spain, i Just discovered your channel and think is amazing. You are so kind, I send you a biggggggg kiss, thanks!
Thank you for a great sounding, and looking, recipe, - and so simple too (less than three and half minutes to make! I know it will take longer in real time but even so it must be one of your shortest films)!

For any culinary geniuses out there, I recommend pairing this dessert with manicotti and cream chicken with artichokes.
So good. So easy.
Wolfing this down!! Haha..I love it! ❤️
The background music for this recipe is perfect. I’ve watched this video like 14 times 😭
This is my favorite!! Could you do a tutorial of cinnamon rolls please?
Mmmm! Yummers! Thank you!, ~Jules in RI
This was waaaaaaaaaaay too sweet.
I love your recipes, I have tried the lemon curd one of yours and it was Devine. where can I get lavender? to use for baking?
I have made many of your recipes and never have a problem. But as tasty as this was my husband and I called it a lemony jell cake. Not sure what went wrong. Too much liquid? 🤷♀️ have to try it again.
I’m going to make this!!!!!!
Will do!
love your videos! keep the great work!
Hello.. in my country you can't find fresh sour cream of buttermilk... What can i use instead??
It looks delicious! The sour cream can be replaced with another ingredient?
Yes, you can sub the same amount of plain greek yogurt for the sour cream.
Eggs
gonna make this tomorrow! mom loves lemon
Does anyone know what the real milk measurement is? He says 1/2 cup milk but the screen says a cup and the the written instructions also say 1/2 cup.
Thanks for a great super easy cake recipe. I made it to take to a lunch today, and it was delicious!
Would I need to double the recipe for Bundt cake
P.S. If I use mini loaf pans 6"x3", how long would you bake them for? And would I have to completely line my pans with parchment paper? Thanks so much!
No where do you state what size loaf pan; 8x4 or 9x5!
Poppy seeds can be and often are bitter. Any work-around slash "hack" for this?
LEMON POPPYSEED POUNDCAKE WITH HUCKLEBERRY MARMALADE
One question, do you think this cake will be good to make as a mirror glaze cake by chance?
would this still be good without the lavender?
I added baking soda, hope that's OK. However, mine never baked. it was wet all the way
For the glaze can I use a little bit of lavender extract?? Or it will be very intense??
ILOVE your channel ... Amazing .. so easy and fast

I'm using a new mixer and thought maybe the paddle attachment was the wrong tool to use as it doesn't really whip but you did it by hand and it turned out fine. Can somebody please tell me the measurements for the baking thingy please!!!
I tried this recipe but my cake turned out too moist and dense... how do i fix it? I looked it up on google and it said it is because there's too much fat or liquid
I might make this in a lime version. 🤤
Hey John l love your videos so much! I was wondering if I could use stevia instead of sugar and if yes how much i need
Please respond quickly if you see this
Oi will be making this!

I have tried making this recipe several times and it always turns out wet and under inside. It taste and smells wonderful but I really don’t know what is wrong. Can anyone advice? I followed the recipe exactly and I have increased the bake time to 90mins. Please help!
same thing happened to me
@@meagansookdeo7189 I used muffin tins to make this recipe and it turned out really well perhaps u can try it. Doesn’t work in a loaf tin...
So doing this tomorrow 🤤
What lavender do you use? And is it store-bought?
Hello thanks for the recipe! I have made this 3 times and I don’t know why the last two just came out really wet! Any tip to save us :( I really hope to master this pound cake. The only difference is I only reduced the sugar to 1 cup.
Hey Michelle, I made this recipe 2 times and the same thing happened to me! I’m really trying to figure out what am I missing. 😭
I've been searching for people who failed like me 😓

Can I use a round cake tin for this? Baking time?
What can we use instead of lavender?
Yummy
379g of sugar? That’s crazy for one pound cake. I reduced it 1/2 to 190g and it’s still sweet....
Hi! I tried making this cake! Twice! :) Tastes really nice but for both times, the cake came out undercooked at the bottom of the cake. Same as far as the measurements, his grams measurements are totally off
SO YUMMY 😋
Lol I ate most of the frosting before I could frost the cake

I don't have culinary lavender, Can i do?
Is it dried or fresh lavender?
Hiii.. your lemon poppy seed cake looks awesome. I want to try it. But from this part of india i am staying, i dont get lavender. What can i substitute i stead
You can simply leave it out. I did and the cake was delicious!!
💜 really nice
Preppy Kitchen you inspire me to go and find lavander to make this cake
Can i use yoghurt to replace sour cream?
Yes. Plain Greek yogurt is a great substitute for sour cream. Sub in equal measure.
What's with the huge amount of sugar!!
Yeah that's the plan, thank you
Hi John, can you do a recipe for orange poppy seed cake? 😊

Nom nom nom 🤤
Can you skip the lavender?
Just made it and it came out wet inside 😭😭😭😭😭
It's too buttery for my taste

I’m a bit disappointed. The pound cake was moist, but a little gummy, and it lacked flavor. Not enough lemon or sweetness.
