That was great, I really enjoyed it. Good job on cleaning up inside the headstock gearbox. It is a really nice lathe. I like Colchester machines. My brother would give his left arm for one. What you did there reminded me of stripping my Harrison Mill gearbox. If you do decide to go down that route then I can recommend Japanese made Koyo bearings. They are good quality but value for money too. Not after market shite. My brother has used them a lot on old British bikes and swears by them. For the main spindle on my mill though I'm using genuine SKF. They aren't too expensive. I know Colchester like Harrison used Gamet bearings on their main spindles and they are an arm and a leg. Good job getting the seal out. Really like the oil filter idea. My Harrison lathe doesn't have an oil pump but relies on splash. It's well known that on Harrison lathes the spindle bearings suffer oil starvation at low speeds. So I want to fit an oil pump that's driven from the main motor. Yet another project to get round to!
Once again great film mate, keep it up!

I have to agree I am partial to a Colchester or three ;) they are extremely well built machines. I've decided to go ahead with buying all genuine SKF bearings and seals to rebuild the headstock. I have no intentions of touching the spindle bearings races so will just clean the cages and be reinstalling the original as they seem to be in good condition still. Regards to your lathe oil system I was watching mark prestlings channel and he has done a oil pump upgrade to his spindle bearings. Highly recommend giving that a watch for some ideas 💡

I too have a T2000 and also like this idea of the oil filter. What type of oil filter did you get? Was there a micron rating on it?
I ask because when I went to buy one the store had filters with different micron ratings.
Thanks for these valuable and well presented videos.

I believe if you pause the video you may be able to harvest the filter code. When I'm next out in the workshop I'll comment the filter code as well but you will then need to get a suitable manifold for the filter to attach to.
I went for a 10 micron hydraulic oil safe filter membrane.
No problem, pleased to be of assistance to any fellow triumph custodians out there .
