      @israelswearingen8219 for how busy he looks with working till dark on half his projects, time is more important than money, so I get it 100% that if something works it works until you decide it's worth the time to do something better. He'd probably just buy a cart to make it faster and easier than fabbin something. But it would be nice if he made something and used his big press brake to make it.

      heavy equipment techs don't give a shit. customer should have greased his equipment. doesn't pay to operate on a breakdown maintenance schedule.

    I am only a handyman. NEVER would i cut out a bearing in this way. Cut the shaft not the bucket. Wtf it confuses my how some people think. ?

      No kidding! Always cut/destroy the cheapest part. They nearly destroyed at many thousand dollar bucket to save a hundred dollar pin. Crazy.

    I thought I had seen it all before. But destroying the mount to remove the pin takes the cake. A pin is much cheaper than the whole unit. That was an amazing repair job. It's like it never happened. Great job making this video as well.

    I’m 68 yrs old AWS certified 1976. Finally some one using a grinder like I was taught. Use the grinder as if it were a milling machine. Wind up with a flat surface and not a U shape crater! Enjoyed your video very much!

    I've done some prity drastic thing's to get pins out but my goodness I would of never ever cut into the ears to knock them out, I have to say I watch all your video's and this one you have made this look absolute factor this is not to say anything about your other work you do because everything you do ends up looking better than it would came out of the factor if not better and stronger than new thanks for another great video Greg and a happy new year to you and the family and your employees.

      Soak the pins for a few days and heat then some kind of press whether it be a very big hydraulic press or a shop manufactured press of some kind, but after soaking and heating a few times the pins might have come out with a big hammer, it's called patience 🙂

    well that's one way of getting a pin out not the preferred way but you have to admit it's out
    the repair just shows us your skill set on thinking out side the box just have no words for it as fro not liking grinding and i am one of them you have mastered that as well you have saved this customer a shit ton of dollars for sure and he has a repair that looks like it was never done for sure just like your videos for the content and the how to get it done you are truly a master of your trade Mate for sure

      But very costly for the customer which bothers me a Lot, I would call the customer and say either I don't have the right equipment or I'm not comfortable with this job and let them decide, I would never destroy something that expensive I'm guessing but that is probably over 10K to buy one if you could find it 🤔

    Really enjoyed your video. I used to be a welder/fabricator before my back went bad. I really miss it. You can damn near do magic with a welder and grinder if you're good at it. I was, and you certainly are.

    Try using a copper backing plate. Unless you really burn it, the plate wont stick.

    That set of re-pads and plate are pretty hefty but it will still shrink and pull. When I fill a big bevel and can only reach it from one side, I
    always peen every pass with an air hammer with a blunted chisel. This is also an effective method of welding cast iron with 7018. I've
    been using this method for 35 years an have had great success. Give it a try.
