I had many Fujis for the past 10 years and I am pretty sure they can't fix autofocus in the near future. I have Panasonic S9 right now and for video creation it beats X-M5 easily. IBIS and working AF are enough factors to take it over this Fuji any day. Add to this better LCD, 180 degree shutter angle, LUTs which are way more flexible than film sims, wave forms and other neat video features. It's only lacking mic jack and hot shoe to be perfect for vlogging. X-M5 is interesting as a small EDC camera or street shooter. Smaller size (with lenses like 18 f2 or 27 f2.8), less weight, mechanical shutter and you have something fun for photo. In the end I think that X-E5 that is coming next year will be much better for photo and video with EVF and probably IBIS.
IMO, the X-M5 is a far better choice than the x100vi. I'm glad they released this camera (and wasn't even expecting it). I was consider the X-T30ii or X-S20. That being said, I disagree with your statement of the film sim deal needing to be the ISO dial. You need to consider who that target market is - the beginner, content creator, or street photog. Most are going to shoot this in Auto ISO. Furthermore, Fuji is recognizing that film is making money again (esp with the hipsters that want to shoot retro / vintage) and the "film sim" dial is a gateway into selling more film stock.
@@stkuj thanks for the comment, and you may be right about how the target market is thinking - hopefully they will learn quickly that Fuji has all but exited the (non-instax) film business, and that Auto ISO will mess up your video exposure!
The Panasonic s9 is way better than both camera plus it has shutter angle which u conveniently left I can name 5 other features those two others lack …but if u like Sony or Fuji just Say u like that I don’t use view finder I won’t rig a tiny camera so I don’t care about hot shoe either 😂
yes, I do wish all mirrorless cameras used shutter angle, just didn't think it was that important of a feature! Is that an important feature for your workflow? How so?
@@AllCarsUnited I had many Fujis and S9 now. For video creation S9 is far better than X-M5. IBIS and AF alone and you have usable, smooth footage all the time. With X-M5 you will have jerky footage with pulsing AF half of the time. Can't count how many times this rubbish Fuji AF destroyed otherwise good clip. For photo it depends if someone needs mechanical shutter (I don't care that much about this), other than that S9 in my opinion is also better - full frame sensor, also more reliable AF in stills, high resolution photo mode. Small size and weight with lenses like 18 f2 or 27 f2.8 is the most interesting thing in X-M5.
virtually all the successful youtubers use Sony. The fuji is just a stills camera, autofocus is useless as always, the Panasonic isn't much better and irrelevant as the ZVE1 is not much more and has a professional sensor and best in class autofocus. IMO
I misspoke in the video- the X-H2 is only 2 years old, not 4!
