My short review on the new small zoom lens from LUMIX: It's small and slow. Not going to use it TBH. Maybe outdoors occasionally, but not good for indoor use.

While it's indeed not very fast, even ISO 51200 is acceptable on the S9 / S5 II so the lack of speed IMHO isn't that big a problem.

I love s9. I have GX85 and G9 along with big Nikon D810. I like S9 because it is compact and provide excellent I.Q. and video. S9's full frame I.Q. provide superb image quality and low light sensitivity. Voitlander Ultron 35mm f/1.7 works amazingly on S9, specially with Leica monochrome profile. Only two complaints are missing EVF and bad simulated shutter sound... I bought cheap $7 View Finder (35mm focal length) that sits on the cold shoe, and works ok with the Voitander 35mm... The Fuji is wayyyyyy smaller, allows the use of a flash, costs a lot less, the kit lens has OIS, can record Open Gate 6K... and because it's made for photography as well as video IT HAS A MECHANICAL SHUTTER (otherwise it could not use a flash). From my point of view (and I work with both Fujifilm an Panasonic)... The question is, Why Panasonic did not make a M43 version of the S9?

After the firmware update, I am getting the S9 . However, the big reason is because I feel like I can use it alongside my S5 IIX. The smaller form factor + LUT button I believe will help me get clients for restaurant photo/video. I like the idea of an ultra fast on site turnover to show a prospective client. However- the fact Lumix decided not to add a headphone jack is just a bad decision on their end. Some of the choices they make are real head scratchers. I can actually live with no EVF (though again- head scratcher. If I wasn't already a Lumix user I would definitely buy the Fuji- as it's giving beginners all the little things they need. Lumix used to do this with their MFT G80/85/95 cameras.

Honestley the Panasonic S9 smokes the XM5. Just a list of a few things that you have mentioned.IBIS, you can just hand hold this camera and it looks like you have a gymbol., Auto Focus on the Panasonic smokes the fuji trust me I also have an X-T5. The Lut ability on it is on an entire diffrent level than fuji's recipes. I find the fuji recipes very gimmicky and I just shoot raw in them. The posibilities with the Luts and the Lumix lab app far exceed anything the fuji can even dream of. Lets' not even mention how much better the Full frame sensor on the Panasonic is, and of cours the color science coming straight out of the Panasonic is pretty much the Leica colors that everyone craves for. Hands down the Pansonic S9 superseeds the XM5 even if it cost a little more. I think you can just use your Iphone if you are thinking of the XM5.

You do have small primes for the lumix, they are from Sigma and they are really very good. I don't know why everybody is ignoring them. The Fuji primes aren't all that small despite being for a smaller sensor. The only viable pancakes for the Fuji are the 18mm (which is arguably not a very good lens) and the 27mm which is better but that's it. Also why does everybody feel the need to compare every camera to the X100 line? The X100 is a rangefinder style fixed lens camera. The X-M5 and the S9 are neither of those things. The X-M5 fills a price gap in the Fuji lineup agreed and it is very competitively priced but it does not compare or try to compete with the X100. Sorry for the rant

"Over-positive" reviews of the S9? Wow! I'm a bit surprised to see you make this comment. It's speaks very loudly to me that your REAL problem with the S9 is two-fold: 1) The price that Lumix put on the S9 because you cannot afford it at this time . 2) Lumix did not invite you to Japan as they did the other "over-positive" TH-camrs. 3) Lumix did not offer to send you an S9 "to test" as you asked them to in your 'non-experienced' review video that you did on the S9 where you were quite "over-positive" about the S9 (even compared to Fuji's offerings) as well. Yet now after you have not received a camera for testing from Lumix, the S9 was then and still is "untenable"??? LMAO! For further context, I observed in a response to a comment on your S5ii video the couple of very small gripes that you had in your assessment of the s5ii, mainly being a bit to slow (initial boot-up) and just a bit too large to be a perfect 'travel camera'.. Interestingly enough, if you could afford to buy the S9 to try it you would see that those 2 gripes have been solved, making it your perfect travel camera and companion to your S5ii, again, according to your S5ii review. In which case you probably would be inspired to publish an "over-positive" review as well, like maybe some of the other influencers who found it to be a great solution for them. Lastly, where are the a7-Cii videos, photos or reviews or comparisons to your S5ii on your page? I don't see any on your page. If you actually own the very cool a7-Cii surely it would be showcased on your channel like the many mobile devices, your S5 and S5ii. You sir, cannot be taken seriously at all! Honestly the S9 would be a dream camera to me had it not been for lacking a real hot shoe... that seems like a massive oversight. It's not that much cheaper than an s5ii, without a mechanical shutter the s9 is not a professional grade camera. Costs around $1500 and can't use it for professional photography. Meanwhile the xm5 seems like a huge tech achievement and like something I really want to have as my carry around camera and could use a flash if I wanted (and the price is good for that). Sigma made the perfect lens for the S9. But it’s not good enough for you? Wtf?

What lens to you is perfect? I guess I need to go for it and give it a shot. LMK what lens is best.

Just look at vitrox and sigma for fuji, f1.4 f2.8 etc range lens, with very good price too. In L mount it simply don't have that competition

The typical user of this camera wont buy any other lens. Stop listing the “buying into fuji lenses” idea as a merit of this camera. In practice, if you want to do that, you dont buy the simplest entry level camera without stabilization and viewfnder.
The S9 is so superior that I would chose it over any Fuji apsc camera, not just this one.

The S9 is not a camera, it’s a video camera. It just happens to do photos.

The Fuji indeed produces better video than the iPhone, apart from AF, stabilization and dynamic range. In the latter, the iPhone (if you shoot at its sweet spots; that is, not using any kind of software zoom) is better than even the S9, let alone the Fuji.

@@HungTran-wf3gu you mean the iPhone isn't better at AF / stab / DR than the (ANY) Fuji or, for that matter, most or even all fullframe cameras? Have you ever shot video with a recent iPhone?

@@mostlyfinnishlifeeventsand5112 iphone using much more DOF so the AF is easier. we talking IQ why u taking the stab here. and also the usable DR in iPhone is not better. And please prove your opinion on detail video comparison or give me some link, anyone in the internet can have such claim, and I don't see any video prove your point anywhere

@@HungTran-wf3gu First, I'm not an Apple fanboy, just compared shooting on the iPhone (most importantly, the 14 Pro Max and the 16 Pro Max) to shooting on quality FF systems (most importantly, the Lumix S5 II).
1, "iphone using much more DOF so the AF is easier" - Lidar is much superior to anything. Try AFing on the sky (birds, airplanes NOT taking up much of the screen) and you'll see what I mean. The Lumix (and, for that matter, ANY FF camera, even Sonys!) will hopelessly hunt. The iPhone won't. And that isn't because of the difference in DoF - when the iPhone focusses wrong (for example, it doesn't regain far focus after quickly focussing to something near), the image also becomes hopelessly unsharp.
2, "also the usable DR in iPhone is not better" - surely the sensor isn't better. But with clever image stacking, even in video mode, the iPhone (Samsung, Pixel etc.) delivers significantly better results, DR-wise. If only FF cameras used the same level of image stacking - they could probably easily reach even 20-30 stops of DR... Currently, phones are doing better because of the massive image postprocessing / stacking. Of course it's an artificicial image - however, they're still way better at, say, preserving the sky.
Note that the IQ of the Lumix is WAAAY better than that of the iPhone 16 PM. I don't debate that. It's just that in these particular areas the iPhone (Pixel etc.) is better than the Lumix (or Sonys etc.) For generic video shooting I almost exclusively use my S5 and only in very special occassions (when I don't want to / can't lug around my Lumix) shoot with the 16 PM.
"and I don't see any video prove your point anywhere" - for example MaxTech has posted comparison videos between phones and FF Sony cameras with the same results; most improtantly, DR.
