So one thing I noticed in your video is the image is flipped. What's on the left is really on the right and vice versa. This is because the threaded nipple and wire should be facing upward as noted on their website. I know your mounting options are limited and different from a stock Tacoma front end, but hopefully you can find a good location to mount it vertically. Maybe you could have a nice bracket made for your front hoop bar and run your wire back along the backside of the hoop bar in place of bridging it over straight from your grille like you mentioned in the vid. In any case, great vid and I just placed my order for it. Been meaning to grab this for general use and off-roading.

I could never get the front camera to come on but yours it a little different than my kit because I think I was sent an upgraded kit the has a black and red wire coming off the camera with a RCA connector to where yours has only a red wire coming off the RCA.
Hey bud the blue and grey are actually for switch illumination I have the same set up on my 2017 taco blue is positive grey is ground the switch will glow a blue color when ignition is on for night time if you wish
Great video. I just installed this kit in my 2015. The blue and grey wires on the switch are now used in this second gen kit if we want the illumination. Question for you, did you get around to changing the bulb in the A-Trac switch? I can’t see any bulbs in that switch. Any ideas? Thanks for great how to’s brother, keep it up. 👍

In general, it has 5 wires which are camera power, camera ground, video power, video ground and shield wire. What voltage readings should be on the video power? Is video ground always constant ground or it still carries some negative voltage signal too? Can you please make new videos especially on identifying these 5 wires with digital multimeter when no wiring diagrams are available at all??? Please 🙏
No. This video is the closest I have which lets you access those bottom switches from behind once all the other stereo and climate control stuff is removed.
I already have a rear camera, it comes on when I shift into reverse. Question, with this 2 camera kit, can I place one camera front facing, and the second to the right side, blind spot.. instead of rear, since I already have one.

Where did you settle on your camera location? I am about ready to do the mod. I am not looking for the front view as much as the view when my nose is in the air and I am not exactly sure where I need to go. (or I want to see the spotter)
@@Tacomaholic it came with one, but I got a new head unit. Came with a better camera. The camera I have now is through my rear view mirror. The new camera will be on the head unit itself.
@@JacobLee2154 You can run the wire along the floorboard in the cab and through the floor with one of the rear floor grommets ... then maybe along the frame or another wire cluster to the back of the truck.
I always cringe when listening to videos made in the USA when someone says.. soddering.. the word is SOLD ering.. not SODDering.. sheesshh. The word has an L in it.. not double DD because you are using... SoLder to join the wires. It is a good informative video otherwise... I am wanting to install a backup camera in my 1992 Landcruiser that has barn doors and not being connected to a stereo with a head unit display just a separate screen to view the footage all the time when driving. Yes definitely put the front camera up higher so you see further infront. This is a good idea and something I have been thinking of installing seeing my Landcruiser is lifted and therefore higher than most vehicles towballs/bumpers.

Yeah I noticed that as well. I'm going to see if I can get it to cleanly mount with the thread part vertical through top center of my grill.

I just installed mine. The blue and Gray wire are to illuminate the switch. I just found that out I wish I knew where to tie it into The Ignition.

That's how my switch is even without those wires. I guess they are just needed for the 3rd Gens.

Thanks man! I pulled the A-Trac switch but the bulb is soldered inside ... so can' t be swapped without soldering a new one.

Does the rear camera automatically come one when shifted into reverse? Or do I need to hit that button every time?
Mine still comes on automatically when in reverse just like it did before doing this mod. 👍
On your steering wheel I noticed the Toyota badge is black was the black stock on yours or did you paint it.
I actually swapped in an entirely different steering wheel, but before I did that I plasti-dipped the Toyota logo on the airbag.
How you put cable through firewall?
Anytime I run something through the firewall I tape it to a straightened hanger to carefully push it through.

They have a kit for 3rd Gen but the installation is probably a little different.
