Asian inspired: Pattern review S8983 and NewLook6625 ep14-24

- We thrifted all our fabric that we used in this weeks challenge of Asian Inspired. Dory got hers from an estate sale and Dee got hers at a thrift store.
Dory used New Look 6625 which was an interesting pattern. Pay attention to which side you are sewing down first as that will affect which side overlaps the other side. The cape is cute on one side. The only thing is wearing it with a coat is near to impossible. It's definitely one to wear when the weather allows. Dory didn't add the zipper in the back as the pattern shows. @vivmomsews4962 you can see another sew of this pattern. She had it in her March makes.
Dee made Simplicity 8983. It was intriguing as to how to put the collar on with the neck dart. But fairly easy to make.

The rabbit was made from a jacket I bought at a yard sale for $5... The entire project was thrifted or reused.

Poor Dory! Your experience is the stuff of nightmares. I love your fabric and the sophisticated kimono variation. Finally you'll be able to play around with that sway back adjustment that will enhance your fit

Well, Dory - I think you were brave to get into the 7foot part of the pool in the first place! I learned to swim as a child but never really trusted my ability or that the water would hold me up as they kept telling us - if my feet can't touch bottom, it's all over - they would have had to come in and get me out! Both your makes were fantastic - so pretty! I made that same Simplicity pattern as Dee several years ago with a heavily textured, crinkly dark green rayon fabric and always get compliments when I wear it - it's a great pattern and looks like it was hard when it isn't - a very nice feature. The viewer makes this week are also great!!!

Beautiful makes! Dee, i have the same issue with front facings with one particular pattern. It fits when you lay it out but not when you sew it. I just added an inch to the pattern piece and then cut it to fit. Also… if you had enough fabric, you could have used a facing on the sleeve to match. Just my opinion. Thanks for sharing each week!

@@sewingfun yeah, you have to ask either the fabric checkout and they will mark down or ask the manager. I went to 2 separate stores & ran into both scenarios. Should be all stores since they are getting rid of New Look patterns. Lots of other you tuber sewing channels are reporting the same issue. It’s not advertised..
