Soubin Shahir should have won a national award for this performance. Even though Fahad Faasil took most of the limelight, Soubin gave an amazing, controlled and moving performance.
Pradeep bhai, do you know how many states India has and in how many languages films are made? Before you say, a single performance of a guy in one film is good for National award, you should bother to look at at least 300-400 films that are released in a year and see how other actors have performed in other films. Oru National award alle ulloo...ithrakku excited aavan maathramulla abhinamonnum e cinimayil aarum nadathiyittilla. There is a lot of difference between good and better..There is an ocean of difference between better and "the best." The best actor should get National Award😀

I'm assuming you might have seen the rest of the 300/400 odd films to suggest this was not good enough. and going by your own statement "how many states India has and in how many languages films are made?" Do you know that the national awards are actually given to singular performances and not multiple actors in one category. With all those states and languages you still get awarded for one best actor or one best supporting actor etc... and what I mentioned was this performance by Soubin was national award worthy.... I thought that was obvious. you might not agree and that's perfectly fine. Even Akshay Kumar has won national award :) not many will agree to that also... Soubin's performance was very subtle and nuanced unlike the loud and over the top characters we get to see regularly in our films and also I did not mention the award should be for male lead.... as this movie does not have one particular lead. it was an ensemble cast but still this performance is worthy of a national award. I don't know which language films you prefer so you might have your own list.... cheers :)

Kumbalangi Nights had one of the most moving scenes from recent cinema - when Shaji (Soubin Shahir) consults a psychiatrist. Shaji is suffering from depression and asks his younger brother to help him. Soubin portrays the condition beautifully and is able to induce empathy for the character. The movie opens up a conversation about the importance of consulting a mental health professional and gives us a better understanding of depression.

Recently I watched manjumel boys, Premalu ,kannur squad ,aattam, bramayugam ,Abraham ozler , neru, anweshippin Kandethum and many more cult movies like the great Indian kitchen, premam , Bangalore days, irratta, mahishinte, home, kappela, forensic THIS LIST GOES ON...I loved all of them and i am a huge huge fan of Mammoty sir..I don't know how you come up with such good stories and then the inch perfect execution.. malyalam cinema is pride of India. But I have a complain too.. why man why you don't release in Hindi.. for God sake please release the the movies in Hindi also so that we can enjoy it in theatres and not on OTT...we don't watch Bollywood anymore..only you are our hope..thanks for entertaining us I am your no.1 fan

Purely cinematic! Got introduced to malayalam films 3 years ago with this true-blue masterpiece. Back then, i had never watched such a film and still this one is unrivalled (as most of the malayalam films are). One of my all time favourites. Only malayalam cinema can create such a heart-warming film having realistic as well as artistic elements. They captured the beauty of kerala in a surreal way that each and every frame looks like an art. Especially, the frame when shoubin shahir is rowing the boat (bringing her to his home) and "cheratukal" plays in the background. Like WOW. The feeling at that point is truly inexplicable.

Although others find the sequence from 1:29:48 their favourite, my biggest getaway was at the time shuji is taken to a psychiatrist for his mental check up, given his vulnerable position,for all that has happened before, my heart felt a pounce when I was seeing him sobbing inconsolably on the laps.
Least people may notice it but, After their parents left four children, they used medium to forget it. First one use alcohol, second one use music, friends and may be alcoholic. Third one use music in boombox & alcohol, & last one use football. Just watch today , such a simple story but still one of my favourite. Love from Neighbouring country.

Before you say, a single performance of a guy in one film is good for National award, you should bother to look at at least 300-400 films that are released in a year and see how other actors have performed in other films. I'm assuming you might have seen the rest of the 300/400 odd films to suggest this was not good enough. and going by your own statement "how many states India has and in how many languages films are made?" Do you know that the national awards are actually given to singular performances and not multiple actors in one category. With all those states and languages you still get awarded for one best actor or one best supporting actor etc... and what I mentioned was this performance by Soubin was national award worthy.... I thought that was obvious. you might not agree and that's perfectly fine. Even Akshay Kumar has won national award :) not many will agree to that also... Soubin's performance was very subtle and nuanced unlike the loud and over the top characters we get to see regularly in our films and also I did not mention the award should be for male lead.... as this movie does not have one particular lead. it was an ensemble cast but still this performance is worthy of a national award. I don't know which language films you prefer so you might have your own list.... cheers :)

Recently I watched manjumel boys, Premalu ,kannur squad ,aattam, bramayugam ,Abraham ozler , neru, anweshippin Kandethum and many more cult movies like the great Indian kitchen, premam , Bangalore days, irratta, mahishinte, home, kappela, forensic THIS LIST GOES ON...I loved all of them and i am a huge huge fan of Mammoty sir..I don't know how you come up with such good stories and then the inch perfect execution.. malyalam cinema is pride of India. But I have a complain too.. why man why you don't release in Hindi.. for God sake please release the the movies in Hindi also so that we can enjoy it in theatres and not on OTT...we don't watch Bollywood anymore..only you are our hope..thanks for entertaining us I am your no.1 fan

Got introduced to malayalam films 3 years ago with this true-blue masterpiece. Back then, i had never watched such a film and still this one is unrivalled (as most of the malayalam films are). One of my all time favourites. Only malayalam cinema can create such a heart-warming film having realistic as well as artistic elements. They captured the beauty of kerala in a surreal way that each and every frame looks like an art. Especially, the frame when shoubin shahir is rowing the boat (bringing her to his home) and "cheratukal" plays in the background. Like WOW. The feeling at that point is truly inexplicable.
