A person after seeing this movie told me, that he didn't like it because it's just showing cooking, cleaning and other kitchen stuff repeatedly throughout and is very boring. I told him... If you're feeling bored just by seeing it repeatedly, just imagine how bored your wife or mother would feel doing this work repeatedly throughout their life. He couldn't reply to that. So i said... That is exactly what the film wants to tell you. One of the best movies in recent times...The true condition of a common Indian woman. It's a slap to the face of all people who think that a daughter, wife, or a daughter in law is just a person who is supposed to serve a Man's needs throughout their life. We'll literally feel like telling "Idhulum bedham oru hotel nadathiya naalu paisa engilum sambadhikkayirunnu".
I have seen this in my family. My grandfather was like that. My father was like that. But, thankfully, my husband is the opposite. He not only do the house jobs, but also he encourages his male friends to do household works. After seeing this movie, my father has changed a lot for good.

I am proud to say I taught my 3 year old son to bring his plate to the kitchen after dinner a year ago and he now helps me in bringing everything from dining table to kitchen after a meal, bless his innocent heart ❤️ I wish to teach my boy everything I would have taught a daughter if I had one in his place! This movie is truly remarkable and shows what all a typical housewife has to go through in a house that follows the old ways and yes such families still exist!

Really heart touching moive. It speaks so much in silence. It's a disease so well spread in human civilization that people don't see any wrong in it. Even the victim feels it's ok to be victimized. Even in my own house my mother scolds me if I occasionally forgets to take my dishes to kitchen..but never my brother even though he always leaves it behind. We don't want gender equality but simple manners, respect ,what every living deserves. If women in your house aren't pleasant, no devi you worship in temple will bless you.

The eye opener in this movie is that nothing in the husband's household changed even after the wife left. We see the beginning of season 2 with the same lifestyle/culture in the second last scene. The real message this movie gives, apart from the women to stand up for themselves, is for the society to change. Brilliantly executed!

ഞാനും ഒത്തിരി അനുഭവിച്ചതാണ്... ഇപ്പോൾ മോനെയും കൂട്ടി സമാധാനായി ജീവിക്കുന്നു.. വീട്ടുകാർ പോലും കൂടപ്പിറപ്പ് പോലും കൂടെ നിന്നില്ല.. മോൻ മാത്രം കൂടെ നിന്ന്.. അവന്റെ ബലത്തിൽ ആണ് മുമ്പോട്ടു പോയത്.. മറ്റുള്ളവർ എന്ത് വിചാരിക്കും എന്നോർത്താൽ ഒന്നും ചെയ്യാൻ പറ്റില്ല. നമ്മുടെ ശെരികളിൽ കൂടി മുമ്പോട്ടു പോവുക.. അടുക്കളയിൽ ഒതുങ്ങി പോകുമായിരുന്ന എന്നിലെ കലാകാരി ഇപ്പോഴാണ് പടവുകൾ ഓരോന്നായി കയറുന്നതു..എല്ലാറ്റിനും hus നോടും വീട്ടുകാരോടും നന്ദി.. അവരാണ് എന്നെ ചവിട്ടി തേയ്ച്ചു എന്നെ വളർത്തിയത്.. Singer ആയിരുന്ന എന്റെ മൈക്ക് മാറ്റി വെപ്പിച്ചു.. അപ്പോൾ വാശി യോടെ പാട്ട് പഠിക്കാൻപോയി. പിന്നെ ഡബ്ബിങ് artist ആയി. ഇപ്പോൾ actress ഉം ആയി... ഈ വാശി ഇല്ലായിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ അടുക്കളയിൽ പാത്രം കഴുകി മാത്രം നടന്നു എന്റെ ജീവിതം പോയേനെ..
Great movie! The way it has touched every hidden sensitive issues in marriage life, is unimaginable. I think this is kind a movie that everyone should watch. Love from Sri Lanka.
It's too much. I agree there is discrimination faced by women but this is just extreme. Literally they are showing 1980's. now in 2022 such things are very very rare especially in Kerala. Even I am from a middle class family and every person I have seen in my 28 years of life, they all respect their wives and 95 per cent of them goes for work too because it's impossible nowadays to live with only a single persons income. These things happen only in the house of the poorest of the poor(less than 2% of total population in kerala) and criminals and adivasis. Even the poor gives much much more respect to women in Kerala.

This is actually a story of some housewives in rural Indonesia as well. Although not really like this in our major religion, but the duty of a housewife hits too close to home. I'm just glad my husband allowed me to work & have a me-time, otherwise I might go crazy as well. I can feel myself in her place, exactly the same feeling and same emotions, but now I'm happy as I followed my path and reached my goal as teacher. The movie made me remember my days and nights in the kitchen, the same dirty water from sintex dripping and makes me believe I have failed in choosing the correct partner. When I visit American homes here, their cooking is really simple. Often involves very few pots or pans. So easy to clean. No stains of masala or such. And ingredients are readily available or steamed or consumed raw (like salads). They put dinner on the stove and it’s ready with such little effort as compared to our cooking. Here our women really toil for all 3 meals. The kitchen itself resembles a junkyard after a meal with lots of utensils to clean.
@@prasadvalappil6094 Not much of those either. They consume chicken, veggies etc which are lightly cooked / steamed (usually everything goes into one instant pot on different racks). Incidentally they are 60-80 year olds who don’t have pressure, diabetes or other lifestyle diseases which we Indians get as a birthright once we cross a certain age. Maybe it’s their consistent level of physical activity (swimming, jogging, kayaking, ice-fishing etc which they do year round) or maybe just some good genes! 😅
I felt my heart weight and painful after watching this movie.. Couldn't realise that it is a movie.. So much effort was there to make it so real.. I would like to send lots of love and strength for those woman who are still going through this.. Thank you for this eye opener.. A huge respect from Tamil nadu..
Well this made me a lot more appreciative of my life. I’m surrounded by people and a community that says “if your parents chose to have you, then the bare minimum they can offer is provide food and shelter” This movie, was rather humbling. I remember my grandma calling herself a “yandram” before and now I see it. Your expected to work devoid of all emotional baggage. If I were to be in Nimishas position, I would literally have to detach myself of all feelings or I’d burst from anger and sadness. I feel for my ancestors. I hope they all rest in peace.
Don't people never think the mistake made by mother in law, giving even brush to his husband who is simply sitting and enjoying newspaper. If she would have stopped it earlier during her marriage days..her son won't expect the same from his wife. It's nothing but slavery under the mask of customs. Also never blame a girl who broke her marriage bcoz of this slavery.
Not every women...maybe some women....only after seeing this movie I came to realise that such practices do exist in our society. Maybe I was just lucky enough to be born in a progressive family and also to get an equally supportive life partner...

A person after seeing this movie told me, that he didn't like it because it's just showing cooking, cleaning and other kitchen stuff repeatedly throughout and is very boring.
I told him... If you're feeling bored just by seeing it repeatedly, just imagine how bored your wife or mother would feel doing this work repeatedly throughout their life.
He couldn't reply to that.
So i said... That is exactly what the film wants to tell you.
One of the best movies in recent times...The true condition of a common Indian woman. It's a slap to the face of all people who think that a daughter, wife, or a daughter in law is just a person who is supposed to serve a Man's needs throughout their life.

The eye opener in this movie is that nothing in the husband's household changed even after the wife left. We see the beginning of season 2 with the same lifestyle/culture in the second last scene. It's too much. I agree there is discrimination faced by women but this is just extreme. Literally they are showing 1980's. now in 2022 such things are very very rare especially in Kerala. Even I am from a middle class family and every person I have seen in my 28 years of life, they all respect their wives and 95 per cent of them goes for work too because it's impossible nowadays to live with only a single persons income. These things happen only in the house of the poorest of the poor(less than 2% of total population in kerala) and criminals and adivasis. Even the poor gives much much more respect to women in Kerala.

When I visit American homes here, their cooking is really simple. Often involves very few pots or pans. So easy to clean. No stains of masala or such. And ingredients are readily available or steamed or consumed raw (like salads). They put dinner on the stove and it’s ready with such little effort as compared to our cooking. Here our women really toil for all 3 meals. The kitchen itself resembles a junkyard after a meal with lots of utensils to clean.

@@prasadvalappil6094 Not much of those either. They consume chicken, veggies etc which are lightly cooked / steamed (usually everything goes into one instant pot on different racks). Incidentally they are 60-80 year olds who don’t have pressure, diabetes or other lifestyle diseases which we Indians get as a birthright once we cross a certain age. Maybe it’s their consistent level of physical activity (swimming, jogging, kayaking, ice-fishing etc which they do year round) or maybe just some good genes! 😅

This movie, was rather humbling. I remember my grandma calling herself a “yandram” before and now I see it. Your expected to work devoid of all emotional baggage. If I were to be in Nimishas position, I would literally have to detach myself of all feelings or I’d burst from anger and sadness.
