    The method I'm using is just take the vechicle out a lot and see where the limits lie and adjust accordingly. That way you prevent buying unnecessary "upgrades". I mainly use my vehicle on weekends for off roading with planned tours once in a while so I have the luxury to do that. Ofcourse when outfitting for a big trip sometimes you need to do it in one go so good tips for that kind of stuff. Tires and a good air pump are THE best upgrades when starting out by the way. Seen guys with ARB bumpers and expensive lighting getting stuck because they use road tires in the mud :D

    Soft shell tents have their advantages particularly since you can go out to king sized mattress and still not take up the entire length of the roof rack. The best I've seen for a hard shell traditional clam shell tent is a double sized mattress which is barely enough to sleep two comfortably..They may take 10 mins or more to set up..but at least a family of 3 or 4 can sleep comfortably..

    Amazing info and so much good advice, great video!!!
    However, i would not agree about lockers. Lockers can be life savers. If i'm going off road i'm anticipating rough, uneven, muddy, sandy rocky or slippery terrain. Lockers are good for all of it. If you don't want the selectable lockers (ARB or OX) you can at least get the Torsen or Detroit so you don't have to think about it. It's a night and day difference unless you're on a flat terrain with good traction all the time.
    Some of my priorities for my area would be:
    - more ground clearance
    - bigger tires with more grip (mud)
    - lockers (at least the rear)

    • @4xoverland
      @4xoverland  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Look, I don't disagree with you. But lockers often make bad drivers. Yes they can be life savers. But they are a cop out. Drivers who have grown up with them don't learn about effective lines through or over obstacles. This is the point I was trying to make. (IMHO. Larger tires - NOT wider. Its a fallacy that wide tyres are better in sand and mud. They are a disadvantage in most mud and no advantage in sand. Only an advantage in dry ground extreme grip situations like rock crawling. Proof: military and rally drivers use narrow tyres on soft ground. Another argument altogether!)

    good luck breaking a plasma line. when I was a U>S>Army Watercraft operator ( Deck side) on the small (900 Series Tugboats) as well as the bigger tug boats, that's all we used to tow the craziest of things. to date I don't remember hearing of any plasma lone breaking. so its good to hear that you can get plasma's for your vehicle winch. put a winch of the front and rear of your vehicle and set up to pull on both, I will bet that you will rip your vehicle in half before those lines break

    When it comes to air compressors, I would have chosen an ARB product. From personal experience, even the single motor ARB compressor is far better in quality & durability than other brands in the market IMO. You really only need the twin motor model if you have lockers or frequently change air pressures (or use it for cleaning dust). But for use with tyre pressures, the single motor ARB compressor is more than sufficient. I've had other brands and none of them lasted - most common failure is the motor overheating. They just couldn't handle the task. I was lucky to get 2.5 years from one (the other two - different brands each - lasted less). But the ARB, I've had now for over 5yrs and its still going strong - touch wood.

    Great video Mr, but you need to learn to use your indictors at roundabouts some more - old dog tricks etc haha

    I just found out that Camp Cover products are being imported to USA and sold by Ozark Overland Outfitters. They have a website. I am not affiliated with them in any way, just glad to see this product here in the U.S. now.
